Regular Meeting
Tuesday, July 2, 2002
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm in the Fire Department Administration Building.
Present at the meeting were Chairman Walser, Commissioners Anderson, Jackson, Karge and
Rubin. Also present for the meeting were Police Chief McCann, Deputy Chief Balinski, Village
Liaison Malinowski, Fire Chief Sashko, and Deputy Fire Chief Ciecko.
A motion was made and seconded to go to Special Business for the purpose of swearing in
James Hauber as Firefighter/Paramedic with the Village of Buffalo Grove Fire Department.
Motion carried.
A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the June 4, 2002 meeting. A motion
was approved as corrected to reflect that a final offer of employment was made to Shawn
Collins.
A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the Special Meeting on June 20,
2002. Motion carried.
Chairman's Report:
The testing process for Firefighter/Paramedic is complete. The Preliminary Eligibility Register
should be out by July 8, 2002, and Final List will be out by July 22, 2002.
Chairman Walser announced that on July 21, 2002 he will resign as Chairman and member of
the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. "It's been a pleasure to serve the Commission and
I want to thank all the Commissioners that have made life easy."
Commissioner's Report:
Commissioner Rubin stated that he has lived in the Village for 18 years and the contribution
Clark has brought to the Village should be recognized.
Old Business:
A. The Firefighter/Paramedic testing process was covered in the Chairman's report.
B. The Police PPR Document will be revised as changed an brought to the next meeting.
New Business:
Chief Sashko expects to have approval to hire a new Firefighter/Paramedic soon.
Village Liaison Malinowski passed out copies of some recent case laws affecting Fire
Departments. Point of interest NYC made special arrangements for Firefighters who where
called to Bosnia.
Chief McCann decided to postpone replacing Officer Sheen until November due to budget
concerns. He is also working on some Grants.
A motion was made and seconded to go into Executive Session at 8:08pm. Motion carried.
Came out of Executive Session at 8:30pm. A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the
meeting at 8:30pm. Motion carried.
