Minutes of the Regular Meeting on Tuesday, February 3, 2004
CALL TO ORDER and ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order at
7 : 30PM by Chairman Jackson at the village of Buffalo Grove Police
Headquarters Building. Secretary Lane called roll . Secretary
Lane noted for the record that a quorum of the commissioners were
present at the meeting. The commissioners present were Chairman
Jackson, Commissioner Karge, Commissioner Anderson, and
Commissioner Rubin . Also in attendance at the meeting were
Police Chief Balinski, Fire Chief Sashko and Village Staff
Liaison Art Malinowski
APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF TUESDAY, JANUARY 6, 2004
Commissioner Karge made the motion to approve the minutes and
seconded by Commissioner Rubin subject to the corrections which
are : Adding motion carried after the approved minutes, Change
complaintive to complainant and include military duty instead of
just duty. The motion carried.
CHAIRMAN' S REPORT: None
COMMISSIONERS' REPORT: None
OLD BUSINESS: Commissioner Karge made the motion to approve the
testing schedule dates and times for the Fire Department, with
the place to be determined. The motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS . The motion was made by Commissioner Anderson
and seconded by Commissioner Lane to approve the 2003 BFPC' s
Annual Report.
Chairman Jackson states that if a letter is sent to any members
of the Board, that letter should be delivered to the
commissioner.
Chief Sashko informed the Board that January 2005 the list is
finished. The 90 days written exams are still in negotiation.
EXECUTIVE SESSION: At 7 : 55PM Commissioner Rubin made a motion to
go into Executive Session. It was seconded by Commissioner
Anderson.
NEW BUSINESS cont. : Executive session ended at 8 : 23PM.
Commissioner Anderson made a motion and seconded by Commissioner
Lane that we make a final offer to Nicholas Otto for Firefighter
and Paramedic. A roll call vote was taken and all commissioners
voted Aye . The motion carried.
Commissioner Rubin made a motion to make a conditional offer to
Adam Higdon as a police officer. It was seconded by Commissioner
Anderson. A roll call vote was taken and all commissioners voted
nay. The motion failed.
Swearing in of Nicholas Otto will be on February 25 at 7 : OOPM.
ADJOURNMENT: At 8 : 27PM Commissioner Anderson made a motion to
adjourn. It was seconded by Commissioner Karge .
