CALL TO ORDER and ROLL :The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by Chairman Jackson at the
Village of Buffalo Grove,Police Department Library.Acting Secretary Karge called the roll.Acting Secretary
Karge noted for the record that a quorum of the Commissioners was present at the meeting. The Commissioners
present were Chairman JwJmQn,.Camnissionm Andmoo,.CQmnissigner Lobe,Commissioner Vidhmon and
Commissioner Karge. Also,in attendance wcm Polies Chief Balinski,Deputy Fire--ChiefPearsen and Village !
Staff Liaison MAlinowski.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Commissioner Jackson stated the minutwofthe-March2,28@swere unavuilabh at this time.Commissioner
Anderson made the motion to approve the minutes of April 6.2005 and seconded by Commissioner Viehman j
The mimes were anamlod by Commissioner-Anderson to correct statemseartmiamrview 22.25 candidates each f
week for 3-4 weeks is to much of a burden on the commissioners. The commissioners voted Aye,with the
correction. The motioned carried

CHAIRMAN'S REPORT:
Chairman Jackson mtroducednew Commissioner Jerod Loeb and-is considenng-Commissioner Anderson as
Vice-Chairman of the Fire and Police Commission.
COMMISSIONER'S REPORT:
Commissioner Loeb thanked PolimW-HEW Btrlinski and Fire Chief Sasldto fev do time they spent with him to
better understand his position as a commissioner on the Fire and Police Commission.-
OLD BUSINESS:
Chairman Jackson had spoken to JdwC Brodmr,Counsel Ilibmirftu commissioners Association,
who informed that the commission could,if desired,interview any amount of candidates.The commission will
interview 117 police officer candidates on Am 4 andSM,2WS-and`durbilimce within the next four weeks.
Police Department Lateral Entry PrQecss,Phases 1-8 Program will be tabled.We will receive,via email,the
schedule from Village Staff Ma1uwwski for the ZWS-Sergeant's Ftomotional Examination.
VIEW BUSINESS:
Police Chief Balinski stated he will be.requiring in the next several months 7-9 replacement police officers to
replace the following officers.Mark Shreeves-arready retired,ref `MedeFalready retired,Ed Szos-will retire on
June 3, 2005-Steve Haislay-willxetim on August 19, 2005,.ChritSccesc-pm rig.disability,Rich Clybum-
considering retiring,and Bob Leake-considering retiring.
EXECUTIVE SESSION:
9:43 PM motioned by Commissioner Loeb snd sided by Oommissioner Anderson tot go into Executive
Session.
NEW BUSINESS Cont:
8:43 PM returned to public session. Motion mad b, C ;iissiontx Viehman and seconded by Commissioner
Anderson to make a conditional offer of employment to the-Fire Department to James Donald Vena. All
Commissioners vote yes.
ADJOURNMENT: Motion was made by Commissioner Viehman and seconded by Commissioner Loeb to
adjourn the meeting at-11-55 PM; �41E Commissioners present voted in
favor of the nation.The motion passed.
