Commissioner Oibborn called the roll and noted for the record that o quorum was present ot the meeting. Present were Chairman Viohnnon. Commissioners Korgo. Loeb, Lukotaky. and Oibborn. Also in attendance were Police Chief Cosstovons. Fire Chief Vovro, Trustee Liaison Trilling, and HR OirootorMo|inovvski. APPROVAL OFMINUTES: A. Commissioner Lukatsky made a motion to approve the minutes of the BFPC Regular Meeting of August G. 2O13. seconded by Commissioner Korgo. Commissioners Korgo. Loeb, Lukotaky. Oibborn and Viohnnon voted in favor of the motion. The motion passed. CHAIRMAN'S REPORT: A. Chairman Viohnnon congratulated Lt. Kent Brecht on his 25 years of service. The vvo|k out for Lt. Brecht ot Station 2S was very well attended. B. Chairman Viehman noted that the Fire Department will have an open house on September 21 from 10-2 ot Station 2G. C. Chairman Viohnnon asked Mr. Mo|inovvskito look into the email for the Board. Ho understands o conversion to a new system has taken place but he is unable to access the mail. O. Chairman Viehman had a meeting with Chief Casstevens on August 15 th and discussed current issues, the function of the board, and where vvogo moving forward. ChoirnnonViohnnon appreciated the visit. E. Chairman Viehman reported that he has received authorization to move forward with a Fire Department Lieutenant promotion. He will meet with Chief Vovrotodiscuss. F. Chief Casstevens noted that a Police Sergeant will be retiring in October and the position is not going tobo filled ot this time. COMMISSIONER'S REPORTS: A. Commissioner Lukatsky thanked Chief Vavra and the Fire Department for responding to his home to check for carbon monoxide. CHIEF AND TRUSTEE REPORTS POLICE DEPARTMENT A. ChiofCosstovons reported one officer is returning to full duty today, one officer should be returning to full duty on September 13 and one officer is still on light duty. B. Chief Casstevens complemented the Police and Fire Departments as well as the volunteers on the handling of the storm evacuations that occurred during BG Days. FIRE DEPARTMENT A. Chief Vovro reported that two FF/PM are off onmedical. B. Chief Vavra echoed Chief Casstevens assessment of a well planned and executed evacuation atBGDays. He noted that the main tent actually lifted 18'' off the ground. The |AP (Incident Accident Plan)was well executed. C. BC Weiser will be retiring at the end of September and DC Postma will be retiring Novonnbor17. Page 1of2 D. Chief Vavra reported that there are eight candidates for the Deputy Chief's position. They will be undergoing assessments and Interviews from September 18-20. The Battalion Chief's position will not be filled at this QUESTIONS FROM THE AUDIENCE: There were no questions from the audience. OLD BUSINESS: A. Chairmen Viehman reported that he was contacted by a Police Officer candidate on the Eligibility List requesting a review of his preference points. He said he had sent in two pages of transcripts without a cover letter asking for both educational and veteran points. It was determined that he did indeed send both documents so he was granted additional points. He moved from 29th to 15th on the list. B. Chairman Viehman sent out the revised draft#2 of the Rules and Regulations for review. A major change was in the listing of preference points and promotional percentages. He requested any feedback in the next 10 days. He will then send them to the Village Attorney for review. NEW BUSINESS: A. A motion was made by Commissioner Loeb, seconded by Commissioner Karge, to approve the 2013 REVISED Police Officer Final Eligibility Register, (effective August 5, 2013, expires August 5, 2015), Revised 9/2/2013. Commissioners Karge, Loeb, Lukatsky, Dibbern and Viehman voted in favor of the motion. The motion passed. B. Chairman Viehman provided tentative draft calendars for the 2014 Police Sergeant testing and 2014 FF/PM testing for review and discussion. ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Commissioner Lukatsky, seconded by Commissioner Karge, to adjourn the meeting at 7:46 p.m. The motion was approved by voice vote. Respectfully submitted, Jane L.
