Quarterly Meeting
September 9, 2002

Meeting called to order at 18:01
Motion to accept minutes of the May 20, 2002 meeting made by Raysa,
seconded by Tenerelli. Motion carries.
On July 23, 2002 S. Calibraro, sent a letter to President Wieser resigning
from the pension board.
A special election was held on August 28, 29, and 30, 2002 to fill the
position. There were forty-five vote cast and FF/PM Tom Gough won.
Motion to accept Calibraro's resignation and Goughs election made by
Tenerelli, and seconded by Wieser. Motion Carries.
President Wieser advised the Board that two members have requested a duty
related disability pension.

An application form for disability pensions was created by the Attorneys of
Ottosen, Trevarthen, Britz, Kelly and Cooper and sent to both members.
Carolyn Welch Clifford from Ottosen, Trevarthen, Britz, Kelly & Copper
review the steps required for the members to receive their pension.
We are unable to act on FF/PM Calibraro request because we have not
received his application yet.
In Lt. Deau's case an application was received. Lt. Deau has requested a
duty-related disability and a non-duty related disability pension. Since we
have Lt. Deau's application we will sent out the subpoenas to the Village of
Buffalo Grove, Chief Tim Sashko, The Board of Fire and Police
Commissioners, The Village of Cary Fire Department, and Doctors treating
Lt. Deau. President Wieser has already contacted Dr. Sarno who will submit
the referrals for the three doctors, tests which may include a Function
Capacity Test, which will cost about four hundred dollars ($400) may be
requested.
Carolyn then explained some points about the differences between duty and
non-duty related disabilities and answered questions.
Some of the points were. Duty related must happen on duty or be
aggravating an old injury. Employee has burden of proof. If it is a request
for occupational disease it is imported to have the first physical.
Motion to accept Lt. Deau's application, and send out subpoenas made by
Gough, seconded by Raysa. Roll call vote taken and motion carried
unanimously. Wieser- yes, Raysa- yes, Sirabian- yes, Gough-yes, Harstem-
yes, Anderson- yes, Shurba- yes, Tenerelli- yes.
Motion to retain Ottosen, Trevarthen, Britz, Kelly & Copper, LTD as
hearing officers made by Raysa, seconded by Tenerelli. Roll call vote
taken and motion carried unanimously. Wieser- yes, Raysa- yes,
Sirabian- yes, Gough- yes, Harstein- yes, Anderson- yes, Shurba-yes,
Tenerelli- yes
Motion to send Calibraro another application and letter stating we need this
application prior to any action being taken and give him one week from

receiving it to return it made by Tenerelli, seconded by Sirabian. Motion
carries.
Bob Ackerman arrived to update us on the fund.
At this time Bob suggest we do nothing, our plan in May worked out. We
need to keep things short term by buying six month CD.
With our current cash we should stair step the CDs 6, 12, 18, 24 months.
Motion to invest cash that bob had in the stair step CDs made by Wieser
seconded by Tenerelli. Motion carries.
Motion to adjourn made by Gough second by Wieser. Motion carries. At
