IL Roll Call - Rick Kahen, Trustee Rubin, Sue Gottlieb, Debbie Holm, Geri
Miller-Brown, Dean Klassman, Mara Sabath, Beverly Sussman, & Larry K. Swieca.

III. Approval of Minutes - Minutes of September 28, 2005. Motion by
Commissioner Sussman, second by Commissioner Sabath.
IV. Chairman's report:
Discussed Citizen Corps Council with commissioners. Discussed reasons to
serve on council. If interested contact Chairman Kahen. Commissioner Sabath
willing to represent CRD on Council, Chairman Kahen to be backup OVM to
be notified.
Wheeling TRIP and Vernon Twp response: Talked with Marla Chorney,
former member of BG CRD who had discussed with Vernon Township, Vernon
Township is not interested in participating in the TRIP pilot program. Vernon
Township Supervisor is also a state senator. Chairman Kahen advises
concerned parties to contact Senator Peterson regarding TRIP.
State Changing Fines for Handicapped Parking Spaces: Change to $250
fine takes effect January 01, 2006. Village has the responsibility to inform
parking lot owners of the increase so they may update signs. B/C Swieca to
e-mail Ed Schar regarding this.
Does the Commission want to pursue recommending to the Village Board a
further increase from $250 to $350 with the extra $100 going to an account for
the CRD to fund capitol improvements?
V. Commissioner's Reports
Commissioner Sabath inquired about the corner of BG Road and Lake—Cook
near Lou Malnati's. Scheduled to be fixed in Spring or Summer 2006.
Commissioner Sabath also inquired because the spaces at the Continental
restaurant are now painted black. Chairman Kahen replied that spaces are no
longer required to be ground striped but must have stand up signage for the
space.
Mirielle has been striped — Commissioner Miller-Brown
Twin Groves Junior High has been striped. Chairman Kahen.
Commissioner Holm, at the request of a resident of Ridgewood, discussed the
possibility of there being an access from the businesses at Lake Cook and
Weiland to Armstrong to allow better access for individuals from the stores
into the subdivision. Trustee Rubin & B/C Swieca reiterated that the reason no
such access exists at this time is directly because of the residents on
Armstrong.
Note: secretarial duties switched to Commissioner Gottlieb at this time
because B/C Swieca needed to leave on emergency calls.
Commissioner Klassman concerned about there being enough handicapped
parking at the new Buddy Baseball field: concerns about safety.
Trustee Rubin suggested writing a letter to Park District Commissioner Mike
Rylko pointing out the specifics of the parking situation. Trustee Rubin also
suggested the CRD should have input on an advisory basis for new
construction.
Commissioner Holm stated that Dan Shimmel would like to hold a special
event at the new park during BG Days. Commissioner Klassman suggested an
"All-Star" game for the Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
Chairman Kahen will e-mail Mike Rylko to let him know about CRD concerns
regarding parking at the Buddy Baseball field.
Commissioner Klassman will call Lou Malnati's asking them to post a sign at
the pick up window to let people with disabilities know they need to go inside
the main entrance for pickups to avoid the stairs.
Commissioners Gottlieb, Holm Sussman, And Sabath will be attending the
Senior Expo on April 25th 2006 to represent the CRD and distribute flyers.
Commissioner Holm: stated that Dan Shimmel wishes to include the RIC
Express in the BG Stampede. Commissioner Verson will forward info to
Commissioner Holm on the RIC so that they may be cordially invited to
participate.
Note: secretarial duties resumed by B/C Swieca
VI. Sub-Committee Reports:
Commissioner Sussman — estimates they are 35% finished with the project.
She and Commissioner Verson will get together with Commissioners Weiner
and Morton to finish up this project.
VII. Items for Discussion:
BG DAYS Wrap U12
Commissioner Sabath feels that the quality of the "goody bags" distributed by
the CRD at BG Days is bad and she can improve their quality. Also she is
concerned that only one child out of three currently gets the "goody bag".
Commissioner Klassman posed the question is it still worthwhile to distribute
the bags?
General consensus — yes but they can be improved.
Perhaps the bags could be made into a family bag as it may be an adult
attending the carnival not a child.
Commissioner Sabath is collecting items that could be given to adults also.
Maybe from local realtors, i.e. Andee Hausmann told Commissioner Sabath to
pick out any item from her catalog and she would put her ad on it.
Some people want to give cash (this is OK per Chairman Kahen). Commissioner
Sabath then asked for letterhead to develop 2 letters — one to solicit donations,
the other to thank the person for heir donation.
Per Chairman Kahen the only limit to our giveaways is what we have.
Commissioner Sabath to draft letter then the CRD can develop the stationery
perhaps using Village letterhead with the CRD logo as a watermark.
Commissioner Sabath feels it is no problem to be able to give something to
everyone. She is an event planner so she has all of her friends and clients
collecting items for her. Examples include t-shirts & candles, - all brand new
never used. She also thinks obtaining these items by BG Days is not a problem.
Commissioner Sussman estimates that based on having 400 to 450 residents
sign up for the carnival, we would need at least 200 of the family size bags.
Note: did the CRD receive any proceeds from the sales of the ART FEST
Posters?
Commissioner Verson has information for AVM Neukirch regarding disabled
artists who could participate at either the Art Fest or BG Days.
VIII. Staff Liaison Report: The Village has a new revamped website- easier to
follow. The CRD should be able to enter the information on their page by
themselves. B/C Swieca is being trained on this now. Possibly this
should be a standing sub-committee.
IX. Other Business Chairman Kahen & Trustee Rubin feel there needs to be
better publicity regarding the courtesy shuttles at the Art Fest.
Chairman Kahen will arrange for a donation to be sent to the RIC
Express.
X. Adjournment - Motion by Commissioner Klassman to adjourn, second by
Commissioner Sussman. Approved. Adjourned 2013hrs.
Next Scheduled Meeting:
Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 7 p.m. in the lower level conference room at
Village Hall.
