MINUTES OF THE BUFFALO GROVE COMMISSION
FOR RESIDENTS WITH DISABILITIES MEETING
May 24, 2006
L Call to Order -Meeting called to order by Chairman Kahen at 19:02 hours.
11. Roll Call -Rick Kahen, Mara Sabath, Debbie Holm, Mark Weiner, Beverly Sussman, Sue
Gottlieb, Judy Samuels, Debbie Verson, Dave Morton, Steve Trilling Larry K. Swieca.
Excused: Brian Rubin, Dean Klassman, Geri Miller-Brown
III. Approval of Minutes -Minutes of April 26, 2006. Motion, Commissioner Sussman
second, Commissioner Weiner Approved.
IV. Chairman's report:
Next month—June Village Manager Brimm &"Deputy Village manager Neukirch will
attend the meeting to introduce themselves, answer questions, and address any concerns
the CRD has.
Art Festival (7/15 & 7/16): Courtesy Shuttle sheets passed out to confirm the driver
rotation.
Chairman Kahen e-mailed Police Chief Balinski and Sgt Bucalo regarding the
intervention training the Police Dept. received. Will try to see if they can address
the CRD in July.
At the June meeting the sign up sheet for BG Days will be available. Will need drivers
during the Buddy Baseball game at 4PM on Sunday. VM Brimm, Deputy VM
Neukirch, Chiefs Balinski and Sashko Rob Giddens, Finance Director
Anderson, Trustee Rubin, & Trustee Trilling have all volunteered to be
buddies for the game.
If the commissioners have ideas for speakers or guests after BG Days please e-mail
Chairman Kahen.
Last month Chairman Kahen received a call from a friend regarding a low-cost method
of escorting his daughter to Prairie School. Trustee Trilling asked for
background - The mother is disabled, the father leaves for work prior to the start
of the school day and the previous escort is no longer available. The resident has
talked to Rene Glass, the District 96 Superintendent& State Rep Kathy Ryg
without succeeding with a no or low cost option. The father had passed out flyers
during Parent-Teacher day, w/o success. Chairman Kahen had suggested
enrolling in the Clubhouse at about $107 month. Family lives on Lyons Ct.
Condell has asked to assist in sponsoring the Buddy Baseball game. Suggested that they
could supply baseball hats as shirts are already in process.
Park District Accessibility Workshop has been moved to Monday June 12ffi 7:30PM at
Alcott. Workshop put on by Bloomington Indiana. Hope to have someone attend.
CRD will not publicize as we believe it is not open to the public.
Ben Sultz called the Chairman- Chairman Kahen gave him information on Special
Kids- Special Needs, and the increase of parking fines to $250.
V. Commissioner's Reports:
Commissioner Miller—Brown—will attend the Wheeling Twp meeting tomorrow
May 25t'. She also has 2 videos from the Secretary of State regarding accessible
parking.
Commissioner Klassman —reported to Chairman Kahen that the signs for Lou
Malnati's are on Mark Malnati's desk.
VI. Sub-Committee Reports:
Business Brochure sub-committee: Commissioner Weiner—Brochure is essentially
done, needs to be proofread then brought to the entire Commission for review.

Buffalo Grove Days:
BG Days- Connie's confirmed they are on-board with chicken fingers again. Outback,
Wiener Take All & Culver's have all confirmed.
Goody Bags: Commissioner Sabath talked to Matt's Cookies; initially they said they
would only charge $0.12/per cookie; she will try to get a better deal. Bubbles,
sunglasses & stuff for kids have been obtained. Chairman Kahen &
Commissioner Verson will work on donations from McDonald's. Goody bags
are at the printer. Hope to have bags back by July. Is'. August meeting will
involve stuffing the bags as usual.
Buddy Baseball is scheduled for 4PM on Sunday at the new Miracle Field — should be
done by 5:30Pm or so. Chairman Kahen has informed the BG Days Committee
that they will need to run the courtesy shuttle during that time period. - Rain
Day is Monday at 3PM

Commissioner Sabath. Adjourned at 1936hrs
Next meeting is on June 28 at 1900hrs - Lower level conference room of the Village
Hall
