III. Approval of Minutes
a. 11/9/2011— motion to approve by Morton, second Klassman. Motion carried.
IV. Chair Report
Chair Swieca indicated he is working with the Village's Emergency Agency on evacuation plans at
Buffalo Grove High School.
V. Vice Chair Report
Vice Chair Sussman summarized an article about enforcing handicap parking rules and the number of
stolen or false handicap placards that are utilized by individuals.
Vice Chair Sussman indicated that a response from Mr. Doug Gamble to the Village's letter came very
quickly. Gamble confirmed receipt of the letter and indicated that the items noted will be
considered.
An inquiry was made if the CRD should request consideration of an ordinance to require curb cuts
near entrances at new construction projects or rehabilitation projects, such as Plaza Verde. It was
agreed that an amendment to the code should not be pursued at this time. The CRD will work with
the Plan Commission and staff and address each project as it is considered.
VI. Commissioner Reports
BG Invitational Fine Art Festival - Commissioner Garfield reported on behalf of Commissioner Weiner
that the CRD will start working in January to promote the Unique Expressions program at the Art
Festival. Commissioner Klassman suggested placing photos and videos on the Village's web site.
Commissioner Sussman suggested a videotape of the Unique Expressions program to show potential
artists the layout and opportunity for artists with special needs.
VII. Staff Report
No report
Vill. Trustee Report
It was reported that the Village's budget was approved at the last Village Board meeting. The budget
is available for public review at www.vbg.org.
IX. Disability Awareness Committee Report—Geri Miller-Brown
Commissioner Miller-Brown reported that poster distribution should resume with two new posters in
January and April, 2012.
It was reported that preliminary discussion has begun with the Vernon Area and Indian Trails Library
Districts regarding educational bookmarks.

It was suggested that Robin Jones be considered to present at a Chamber monthly meeting.
It was reported that the November/December Village newsletter included information from the CRD
Disability Awareness Campaign. The regulation relating to clearing handicap parking of snow, ice and
other obstructions was featured (page 5).
X. Web site content and promotion
It was suggested that the "Who We Are" section of the web site should feature a list of
accomplishments of the CRD and highlight the programs and services that the Commission offers.
XI. Unfinished Business
Commissioner Klassman suggested that an interior designer be invited to the February 22, 2012
meeting to discuss the subject matter targeting individuals with special needs. The program could be
videotaped and then posted to the Village's web site.
XII. New Business
Commissioner Miller-Brown reported that a group of parents — "Best Futures — have identified a lack
of programs and housing for disabled adults after high school. They are seeking volunteers starting
in January, 2012 to assist with housing search and promotion. The group is a 501(c)3.
Commissioner Samuels reported that Avi is doing well and wishes everyone a happy holiday.
The Park District's Senior Expo will be held on April 24, 2012 from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm. A
registration form will be completed for the CRD to have a table and presence at the Expo.
It was discussed that the CRD could have a New Year/ holiday celebration before the next meeting in
January, tentatively at 6:00 pm. The celebration could be at a local restaurant or at Village Hall.
Further information will be forthcoming about the celebration.
