Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Mobile Com: Roger stated that a functional disaster planning committee was being created by the
village. This committee was sanctioned by the village and would help in the case of telephone
outages in the village, since it takes time to repair the lines. In conjunction with this committee,
Roger stated that since the Buffalo Grove Days Committee was already organized and cohesive,
and knew how to use the radios, he asked for volunteers to man the temporary emergency centers
for 911 calls, Fire and Police emergencies. Roger stated that there would be 4 emergency sites,
manned for 4-6 hour shifts, with 2 people per site. A sheet was passed around for sign-up.
Approximately 15 volunteers signed up.
Chairman's Report
Mo stated that from now on, committee meetings will be on the 2nd Tuesday of the month.
When the committee starts to meet twice a month, the meetings would be the 2nd and 4th
Tuesdays of the month. Next meeting April 10, 2001.
Mo stated that Nikki Lee was the new Arts and Crafts Co-Chairman with Glenda. Penny has told
Mo that this was not something she wanted to do at this time. Mo stated that we may move the
craft fair to Church street and make it a drop-off location for the festival bus. Mo also requested
that if any committee members goes to craft shows, to try to get some of the crafters business
cards so that they can be contacted. Schaumberg also has a craft show the same weekend.
/Sub-Committee Reports:
Police Department-Jim Newton: Jim Newton called Mo prior to the meeting with No Report.
Park District-Ryan Risinger: No Report
Parade-Joe Tenerelli: No Report
Fun and Food-Rick Kahen: Sandy Theaboult from the carnival had requested that the Fun and
Food be moved to Saturday. Mo talked to Sandy and the Fun and Food will remain on Monday
from 10-12. The carnival will open to the general public at 12:30.
Fire Department-Troy Shannon: No Report
Public Works-Ray Rigsby: No Report
Trustee Liason-DeAnn Glover: DeAnn stated that she has been assigned to the committee on a
permanent basis.
Chamber-Steve Panitch: The sponsor letter has been sent out to all of last years sponsors, with
some responses already coming in. Steve also stated that in April the letters for the Business Fair
vendors and restaurants would be going out. When Mike Jonas returns, he would lead the
restaurant aspect of the sub-committee's duties.
Food Tent-Tom Johns: Indestructo will supply the same tents as last year. The letters to the
non-profits will go out prior to the next meeting.
Arts and Crafts-Nikki Lee: No Report.
Carnival-Paulette Greenberg: No Report.
Entertainment-Rhonda Corchin: Rhonda confirmed that she had gotten the Saturday night line
up, but no contract is yet signed. The Saturday night line-up is scheduled to play from 7:30-10:30
p.m.
Rhonda stated that she looking into a possible group for Sunday, for the Children's Fair. that
would be for the whole day with(1) 1/z hour warm up show on the Main Stage in the evening plus
lots of little shows throughout the day.
Fundraising-Sara Herman: Sara handed out a sheet of Sponsorship Opportunities. We hope to
get more Friends of the Festival donations for people to have their name placed on the board. A
suggestion was made that going door to door may increase sponsorship in this area.
Pam presented to the committee the possibility of selling cheesecakes at the information booth.
People could sign up to purchase the cheesecakes, which would be picked up at a later date,
possibly at the Village Hall. The cheesecakes would cost $15-18 each. Pam had samples for the
committee to taste. Steve voiced concerns regarding competing with the food tent vendors and
possible liability issues. The general opinion of the committee was that there would be no conflict
because the cheesecakes would not be delivered until a later date. DeAnn will investigate the
liability issues and report back to the committee at the next meeting. It was decided to table this
until the next meeting.
Chilly Willy will again be selling ice cream at the carnival.
Publicity-Karen Danenberg: Was not present. Mo stated that she would contact Karen.
Mo announced that July 16th was the deadline for articles for the village newsletter.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00.
