Chairman's Report:
Mo states that we are getting closer to the event. She requests that all publicity be given to
Karen ASAP if you want it in the newspaper. Drop dead date for the newspaper is July 1. Phil
Verstan placed an article in the July Buffalo Grove newsletter asking for donations for the
Friends of the Festival. Drop dead date for information for the newsletter is July 15.
Police: Jim Newton: Any issues and concerns need to be forwarded to Jim so he can start
working on it. Jim questioned if the Big Board would be in place by the food tent this year.
Park District: Ryan Reinberg: The Climbing Wall and Dunk Tank are confirmed attractions.
Victims for the Dunk Tank are still being lined up.
Parade: Joe Tenerelli: We need to start working on the Grand Marshall for the parade this
year. The candidate cannot be an employee of the village, or serving on a committee or
commission. He/she must live in the Village of Buffalo Grove. Mo questioned if a request
could be placed in the paper for candidates for the Grand Marshall.. Previous candidates from
last year can also be part of the list. July 15 is the date to have the final decision for the Grand
Marshall. Nominations need to be in to the committee by July 10, the next meeting.
Joe also needs to know who needs a Buffalo Grove Days shirt and what size
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake: No report
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen: No Report, not present
Fire Department: Troy Shannon: Troy has given list of necessities to Ray.
Public Works; Ray Rigsby: No Report. Not present
Trustee Liason: DeAnn Glover: No Report
Chamber: Steve Panitch: Copies were submitted for the preliminary restaurants now signed
on. Seven have signed up for the weekend. Dominick's has signed up for Bingo Night on
Thursday. There is space for 20 restaurants/venders..
Softball game on Thursday between the Village and the Chamber will be the unofficial start of
the Festival
Food Tent: Tom Johns: We will be having the same vendors and the same products. The
contract has been signed for the maintenance/clean up people. Mo said that she was
approached about serving coffee, ice tea, and Snapple on Thursday night for the bingo. This,
in additional to the soda already being sold. Mo suggested that we bring in some of the other
not for profit/charitable groups to sell these products, i. e. another Boy Scout Troop group.
Arts and Crafts: Nicki Lee/Glenda Hoelting: Seven crafters checked in/confirmed. 15-20
applications have been sent out. Nicki will put another classified ad in the paper and on the
Internet. She will also be talking to crafters at the Alpine Festival in Lake Zurich. There are
30-35 openings possible for the craft fair at the present. We presently have room for at least
35-40 crafters
Carnival: Paulette Greenberg No list of rides have been received from Sandy yet. Some
children have requested specific rides.
Children Fair
55 applications sent out for the Children's Fair. Five have been returned. Paulette has received
lots of phone calls regarding the Fair. The library has signed up, but we did not charge for
their booth.
Exhibitors for the Children's Fair will come in off St. Mary's driveway/parking lot, to help
prevent too much congestion. No one will be allowed up on the Main Stage if the Children's
Show is not on. There will be no power to the booths for the Children's Fair.
Entertainment: Rhonda Corchin Final schedules are here and handed out at the meeting.
Mo spoke about an article in the Daily Herald Article about area festivals. Many communities
are starting to use good local bands from the area, rather that a big band, for big bucks.
Fund Raisin: Sara Herman At this point $25,150 has been pledged. They have collected
$18,000.
Joe questioned about getting specific sponsors for the parade to help offset the cost.
Publicity: Karen Danenberg : Get articles to Karen for the newspaper by July 1 st.
Bob Perna and Persistence, with a DePaul musician to back him up, puts on a great show.
Make it a mini Ravinia, no food or coolers and audience can only bring blankets and chairs.
If cheesecakes were sold during Buffalo Grove days, and the person got sick, the Village could
be held liable. The idea would be to take orders during the Festival and have a specific
delivery date. DeAnn stated that if there is a liability issue, that the Village Board would want
to know about it. The idea of the sale would be to help to raise funds. This might be a project
for the Youth commission during the Arts and Crafts Fair.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50.
Respectfully submitted.
Jane Primack, Secretary
