Restaurants: For the thin crust pizza, Little Italian won the lottery. The list of restaurants was passed out and each of their requested items was discussed. Little Italian Pizza is the pizza vendor Continental Restaurant Cravings Dairy Queen Lou's Malinati's Subway Village Tavern Yen Yen There is no pizza vender for Thursday night yet. The list of restaurants was approved with modifications except for the pizza issue. Reasons that BG restaurants do not get involved in BG Days: 1. Restaurants want to be able to sell soda. They state that they can't make money if they can't sell soda. 2. In town, small restaurants have staffing problems. They can't handle the festival and keep their restaurant open. 3. The economy has been bad and some may have problems just staying open. Steve requests permission to go outside BG so that we can reach a total of 14-15 restaurants as long as restaurants in BG have had the opportunity to be involved and have declined. The restaurants that previously participated will get first choice to return. Then, Steve will go to all other restaurants. The participating restaurants outside of BG would have to understand that participation in BG Days is not an ongoing process for each year. If they participate this year, there is no guarantee that they will be invited next year. Mo wants to be well assured the BG restaurants have been contacted, have had the chance to participate and have declined. Next year we may have to have a lottery for the hot dogs vender, as hot dogs are a popular item for the restaurants. Pam made a motion to accept outside restaurants, with approval on a single basis item. Included in her motion was not to have more outside venders than BG venders. Motion was passed with one opposed. The Business Fair is doing fine with 20 booths. Ray will set up the power for the booths. Food Tent: Tom Johns: Everything is fine. Arts and Crafts: Nicki Lee/Glenda Hoelting not present, no report. Mo tried to contact Nicki but was unable to reach her. Carnival: Paulette Greenberg Children's Fair: There have been 10 booths sold for the Children's Fair. Paulette has received 2-3 calls for applications and money. Paulette states that we will get 12-15 booths. Her goal is 18 booths. Carnival: There will be 17 rides total, with 3 new adult rides. The smaller children will have the same rides. Pre-carnival sales should go into the newsletter and paper Entertainment: Rhonda Corchin Rhonda stated that she needs 90 parking passes, other than that no report, Fund Raisin: Sara Herman Fund raising is progressing well. We have $29,250 pledged with $27,500 received. She got a CDW commitment, plus 12 new companies. The big board is going well. A suggestion was made for Sara to talk to Karen and jazz up Friends of the Festival and the Big Board a bit. Publicity: Karen Danenberg Publicity is under way. Karen needs a release from Rhonda and Paulette. She is just at the beginning stage for publicity. An insert will run the 3rd week of August in the Daily Herald. The Countryside will run features the week before and the week of the festival. We will be having the same ad idea as last year. The entertainment glossies are available; we need the press releases. Karen hopes to contact the TV stations to get them to do a remote broadcast for publicity. Karen also needs a feature story for the festival and is requesting ideas -possibly the disability program. Radio station WTMX, 101 FM is willing to broadcast from the festival on September 1st 7-9 PM. There will be no cost to us. The promotional value for the radio broadcast is $21,000.
