The meeting was called to order at 7:12 PM
Chariman's Report:
Mo welcomed our guest, Father Mark Rezel from St. Mary's parish.
Regarding the WTMX 101.9 radio station's remote broadcast, Mo went to Vernon Hills days
where WTMX also did a remote broadcast. The station is self contained in a mini van. They do
give-always, spin a wheel for prize. Mo thinks we have found a spot for them. We can try it this
year. We get free publicity from it. It is something new to try this year.
We have phones for the buses, 10 phones right now, hopefully 12 by the festival, with air time
In regards to the tickets for the VIP party, Mo will talk with Pam.
Fund-raiser: Pam stated that she has 2 musicians who will play guitar on August 17 at 8:00 PM,
on the patio of the Village Tavern. This is a private function. Attendance will be by word of
mouth.
Village Liason: Bill Brimm - no report
Police: Jim Newton
A copy of the letter from St. Mary's Parish regarding the parking issues at the church parking lot
was given to Jim. It is the same as every year. The police department takes care of it.
Jim stated that if anyone needs parking permits for the food venders and musicians, to contact
him.
Park District: Ryan Reinberg - no report, not present.
Parade: Joe Tenerelli 25 groups have ordered applications for slots in the parade. 75
applications are still out.
The Grand Marshall will be Chuck Hendricks.
The shirts have been ordered.
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake - no report, not present
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen - not present, no report
Fire Department: Troy Shannon:
Troy submitted a letter requesting if the Fire Department can take donations for MS "Fill the
Boot". A voted was taken and "Fill the Boot"was approved.
Public Works; Ray Rigsby - no report
Trustee Liason: DeAnn Glover - no report
Chamber: Steve Panitch
Michael has the recap of the restaurants.
Pizza: Little Italian will be the pizza vendor for Thursday night. The teen stage will have
Wa-Pa-ghetti Pizza. On the weekend, the thin crust vendor will be Domino's and the thick crust
vendor will be Lou Malnati's.
Wa-pa-ghetti's needs to be approved for the teen stage.
We have I I food vendors for the weekend, with 4 remaining slots open yet. Two slots that are
not filled possibly will be filled by Friday
The food venders that need to be approved by the committee are as follows:
Big Bowl
I Am Siam
The Melting Pot
Michael requested permission to give Mo the right to approve any food vendors that are signed
up by this Friday so that their names can go in the Village Newsletter. This was approved by
vote.
The softball game between the Chamber and the Village will be the Thursday before the Festival
Food Tent: Tom Johns - no report
Arts and Crafts: Nicki Lee/Glenda Hoelting - no report, not present
Carnival: Paulette Greenberg
Children's fair: no more applications have been received.
Posters have been ordered with the starting time of the festival and "to close".
The carnival is all set.
Entertainment: Rhonda Corchin
Rhonda stated that at the beginning of August, she will send out information to the entertainers,
including parking permits, maps, schedule, information about access and parking in the church
parking lot, i.e. watching for church services and for weddings and letter with their appearance
time
We will need a few more hotel rooms, because of Scooby Doo, They are requiring 2 nights of
rooms. Mo stated to call the Wyndom about the issue to see how many he can donate Saturday
night. We will need 10 rooms, and 4 rooms for Friday.
Fund Raisin: Sara Herman Sara was not present.
Publicity: Karen Danenberg
Karen has talked to one person at the Daily Herald and has started on the special insert for the
Buffalo Grove Days in the Herald She has also talked to one person at the Pioneer Press about
the articles they publish about Buffalo Grove Days.
We gave the Herald a tent in the business fair last year for their donations, and they did not show
up.
The drop dead deadline for Karen for all the articles was July 15, and Karen only got 3 items. She
took information off the minutes of the meetings. She will use the Grand Marshall as another
item.
Friday July 13 is the newsletter final drop dead date for the Village of Buffalo Grove. All articles
are also due that date.
Extra Notes:
Village Website: It is hard to find BG Days on the web site. A suggestion was made to change it
to a link that has information on the entertainment.
Father Rezel thanked the committee for the opportunity to attend the meeting and noted that BG
Days use of St. Mary's parking lot was a gift of the church and should be treated as such.
Construction work on Lake Cook Road will not affect the festival per the Department of
Transportation. They stated that the construction will not be in the area at the time of the festival.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45.
