The meeting was moved to downstairs. Restaurant vendors would continue to meet upstairs.
Buffaloes on Parade: The Village is going to be auctioning off only three and they will stay where
they are for the auction. The auction will be at 4:00 PM on Sunday. This should bring a few
people in to see what they are going for and what the buyers are going to do with them
Fireworks are going to be bigger this year. There should be about 22 minutes of the show, with
some really good shells - even better than last year. The Village Board is raising their donation
for the fireworks for a grand total of$20,000.
Police: Jim Newton - Not present.
Jim gave Mo the parking tickets prior to the meeting. Mo will pass them out closer to the event.
Everyone will get a parking pass.
Park District: Ryan Reinberg
The Dunk Tank will be operating on Saturday and Sunday, and the Climbing Wall on Friday,
Saturday and Sunday. The Stampede will be on Sunday in the morning. The runners will come
over for the pancake breakfast afterwards. The Park District will have a couple of booths at the
Children's Expo. On Saturday from 12-1 Elliot Hartstein will be in the Dunk Tank.

Mobile Com: Roger Remblake not present
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen not present
Mo stated that we cleaned out the cage last year and we don't have a lot of give-aways. We need
volunteers to help shop and/or pick up food/prizes. Jackie Greenberg volunteered.
Debbie Jess asked about whether the person driving the handicapped cart can be notified if a
person with a disability is in need of a ride. Possibly we can have pick up and drop off sites for
the handicapped. The idea was passed onto Ray. Mo suggested that Karen incorporate into the
article for the paper that there will be a designated pick-up and drop- off site for the handicapped.
Fire Department: Troy Shannon
Troy was upstairs with the vendors. No report.
Public Works: Ray Rigsby
Ray stated that the entertainer trailer is now procured. The previous vendor increased the price
by $11,000, so Ray found another vendor. The price given by the new vendor will be the same as
last year. There will be 7 buses again this year. Ray is working with Laidlaw in Vernon Hills and
Stevenson. Waste Management comes through as usual. The generator has been taken care of
and there will be more lighting on campus. There will be better lighting after the fireworks.
Paulette asked about better lighting for the portapots at the carnival. Ray hopes to move them to
a better location.
Trustee Liason: DeAnn Glover
DeAnn stated that in regards to the Lake Cook Road construction, it is her understanding that the
construction will be shutting down the repairs during the 7 days around the festival. She was
unsure if the intersection of Lake Cook and Raupp will be done or how many lanes will be open
on Lake Cook.
Chamber: Steve Panitch
Steve stated that the restaurant vendors were upstairs, that 11 showed up, plus some non-profits.
Food Tent: Tom Johns
Tom is upstairs with the restaurant vendors. Mo stated that on Monday of the festival, there are
not a lot of vendors serving. There have been complaints regarding this. Mo stated that we have
approached some nonprofit organizations, such as youth groups, about providing food. They
would probably be charged on a prorated basis.
St Mary's youth group. They want donation-only for Krispy Kreme donuts. The committee
voted yes.
Arts and Crafts: Nicki Lee/Glenda Hoelting
24 checks have been received for 25 spaces. One vendor purchased a double space. Three more
people have called that they are sending checks. Nicki sent out reminder postcards last week.
We need to get parking permits out to the vendors. Mo will meet with Nicki about the letter
later.
Carnival/Children's Expo: Paulette Greenberg
There are 13 venders for the Expo. She has gotten more names tonight. Confirmations went out
last week. Paulette stated that she was told that the vendors cannot use St. Mary's parking lot at
all. She plans to come in off Raupp or by Public Works to get in and out. She will work it out
with Jim. For setup, the vendors will be told to come in after 8:30 AM and they must be done by
10:00 AM. Mo asked for as many volunteers as possible with golf carts and hand carts to help
out the vendors for the Children's Expo. Break down is after 4 PM Sunday.
Carnival tickets are on sale at the Village Hall.
Entertainment: Rhonda Corchin
Friday is always a challenge getting the stage set up and entertainment equipment moved in with
the problems with St. Mary's parking lot.
Monday, the St. Mary's football teams practice on the field and they begin to tear down the
fencing.
Fund Raisin: Sara Herman stated that we are past $30,000 and still progressing. The deadline is
the next Tuesday meeting for the Big Board. If anyone wants to donate to the Friends of the
Festival, they must have in their checks by next meeting. Everything is progressing well
Publicity: Karen Danenberg
The Daily Herald is working on the ad. Karen will meet with the Daily Herald tomorrow about
the insert. There are no reporters writing any stories about us. All we see will be what Karen has
written. The Big Board must have the Daily Herald and Pioneer on it. Phil has the logos in his
computer but he is on vacation. Karen also needs the logo for radio station.
Karen needs a picture of Chuck Hendricks. Phil should have it. Mary Libby stated she would see
if she could help get the needed information from Phil's files. The ad will be in the paper August
29 from Wednesday to Sunday for the Daily Herald.
The Pioneer Press will get a booth and will have subscription sheets set out so that people can
subscribe to the paper. No money will be exchanged. The Daily Herald will do the same.
Thursday, August 23 from 6-9 at the Village Grill, under the name of the Residents of Buffalo
Grove, will be the guest bartenders. All proceeds will go to the Committee for Buffalo Grove
Days. They need volunteers for 1 hour shifts. The bartenders will wear T shirts that patrons can
sign on for a donation. The bar has donated three key hours for this cause.
Pam stated that on Friday August 17 at 8 PM, the band Tandem Felix will play. Pam encouraged
everyone to bring friends and family. This is kind of a private party and everyone "invited" is
asked for a $6 dollar donation
Additional comments
Paulette stated that next week she will bring sign up sheets for the carnival ticket booth.
T shirts: Mo stated that it is getting hotter and hotter on the weekends. She is allowing
volunteers to wear teal blue tank tops/sleeveless shirts with their name tag that weekend. K-mart
has some, Wal Mart has them in the exercise department, and Sam's Club also has some.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:20.
Respectfully submitted,
Jane Primack, Secretary
