Chairman's Report:
Phone update: The person with the original company who was going to donate the phones, is no
longer with the company. The company's representative got a hold of Mo, who requested 10
phones. They will only be able to give us six phones with unlimited calls. We are still 4 short.
Roger stated that we could go to the people who provide the radios. We would have to rent the
phones but it would be a contingency plan. Roger might be able to work out a deal. Mo states
that we need another three phones. We need 10 phones just for the weekend with unlimited local
service only. We need 7 for the bus drivers, and then 3 for the general public. We could use
Nextel for the buses.
Police: Jim Newton - No report
Mo talked about the parking permits. All police officers will know who will have what parking
permits.
Park District: Ryan Risinger
Last week there was some discussion about a soccer team that wanted to sponsor a food booth.
Ryan indicated that there are 30 traveling teams in the park district. If the coaches see that one
team is being allowed to have a food booth for fund raising, we may have excessive requests for
the next few years. Mo will speak with Tom about this issue.
Parade: Joe Tenerelli
Joe stated we have four fewer floats than last year because of budget cuts. The good news is that
Sara found a sponsor for the parade. We will have a sign made up for Hamilton Partners as the
sponsor for the parade.
Mo stated that Ray can make a sign. We could have kids carry the banner in the parade and
maybe have them wear the BG Days shirts.
Shirts are in. Joe will order extra shirts, three of each: large, extra large and medium.
Joe has received 53 applications but we are behind in the number of entries compared to previous
years. Joe is trying special interest groups and possibly specialty cars from the auto show.
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake
Roger states that he will get a price on the phones
He states that he has gotten 20 radios. Roger reminded volunteers to check in with Mobile Com
at the start and the finish of your shift.
Mobile Com Hours for the festival:
Thursday and Friday 5-12.
Saturday and Sunday - all day.
Monday - 9 to close.
Roger will have site maps closer to the festival. He will bring the map in next week for revisions.
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen
Food commitments have been received from Outback Steak House, The Village Grill, Craving,
the Jaycees, Jewel, and McDonald's for cookies. Phil checked and there are about 200 bags
down in the cage. We will have enough stuff for the bags.
Rick stated that he would need someone on Saturday to get the pop.
There will be two handicap carts this year. Anyone who can give an hour or two all day Saturday
and Sunday afternoon would be appreciated.
Rick stated that as long as we keep the carts moving, no special stops will be needed.
On Monday, volunteers need to be at the food tent by 10:15A.M to pack food boxes. The Boy
Scouts are to provide the pop.
Fire Department: Troy Shannon - No report
Troy stated that he gave his list to Ray.
Public Works; Ray Rigsby - No report
Trustee Liason: DeAnn Glover - No report
Chamber: Steve Panitch- Not present
The Food Tent is filled up. One restaurant has dropped out but they are trying to fill the spot.
Food Tent: Tom Johns - Not present
Arts and Crafts: Nicki Lee/Glenda Hoelting
Nicki stated that she has 34 applications for 36 spaces. She anticipates she will have a few more
in the next week. Letters will go out this week with the parking permits.
Carnival: Paulette Greenberg Paulette stated that there are 14 booths for the Children's Expo.
We will need extra chairs and tables for the Expo. Per Dean, we will take them out of the food
tent. Paulette stated that she has the sign up sheet for the ticket booth tonight.
Entertainment: Rhonda Corchin
Water is ordered. Rhonda will need to go over the last minute food and drinks for the
entertainers.
Fund Raisin: Sara Herman
Sara stated that she has taken in $35,250. She will have banners made up for the main stage.
Pioneer Press and Daily Herald will have their logos on the Big Board.
Sara stated that she has four sponsors for the handicapped shuttle.
Publicity: Karen Danenberg
Per Phil, the newsletter is at the printer and will be in homes by this Saturday.
A maximum of 300 extra flyers are to be printed for passing out at the festival.
The Village web site has lots of new information. Channel 6 is also being fed with information.
Marquis will start advertising the festival. Daily Herald is working to get the ads done. Pioneer
Press will print their ads August 29-30. The Daily Herald will print their ads August 23 and 30.
Working to get the cable TV to cover the parade. Dean will pick up the cable guys from the
Alcott Center and bring them in.
Bill Brimm: BG Days will have expanded fireworks with a longer program. This means that the
fireworks company will be on site longer. Buffaloes on Parade auction will be on Sunday at 4
P.M. The Arts Commission wants tables for that.
Other issues:
Guest bartending night is set up with posters already printed up. There will be a meeting after the
BG days meeting next week for volunteer bartenders. Michelle stated that this is not a BG days
event, but a Residents of Buffalo Grove event. The Friday night concert is all set per Pam. The
VIP invitations have all been sent out. Mo states that we may have a big turn out.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:40.
Respectfully submitted.
