Chariman's Report:
Mo stated that this would be the official wrap up meeting for the 2001 Buffalo Grove Days
committee. Bill Brimm is out of town so we still do not have the final numbers.
The official finances for Buffalo Grove Days will be discussed at the next Village Board
meeting on October 15. We will know the bottom line at that time. Mo instructed the
committee members to watch for it on cable.
Mo stated that everyone had copies of the minutes of the meeting with the volunteers for BG
Days. The minutes include everything discussed at that time. Mo has talked to Steve about
the chamber, and minor things to address and work on for next year.
Police: Jim Newton: Not present
Park District: Ryan Risinger: Not present
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake
No issues occurred. Among activities monitored by Mobile Com were: lost children,
ambulance calls, code blues, and monitoring all police calls, cell phones and radio
transmissions.
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen
Everything went well. We distributed 425 lunches at the Fun and Food.
There was a glitch with one of the food vendors who did not know he was suppose to have the
food there, but everything worked out OK.
Rick also wished to thanked everyone who helped drive the Handicapped carts and who helped
out Monday morning for the Fun and Food.
Rick noted that there have never been any injuries for the Fun and Food in it's history.
It was suggested that there be bigger signage to inform the public of a"private party" and that
the Food Tent would be closed until 12:30 P.M. on Monday.
The Village of Northbrook had contacted Rick in regards to cloning the Fun and Food
program for their festival. Rick found out that Astro also provided their carnival rides. Rick
made a demonstration to the commission of Northbrook, who then had their first Fun and
Food program this year.
Mo went to the Chamber luncheon day after the festival. She received the member of the
month for the Chamber award, which was very well deserved.
Fire Department: Troy Shannon: Not present
Public Works: Ray Rigsby: Not Present
Trustee Liason: DeAnn Glover
DeAnn stated that there is going to be a workshop between the Village Board and the Park
District, per Park Districts request, about changing the site of the BG Days Festival to Busch
Grove Park at 83 and Deerfield Parkway.
Chamber: Steve Panitch Steve reviewed comments from the Chamber wrap up meeting.
1. The Chamber would like to schedule a meeting in January with all the Chairpersons from
BG Days to discuss the upcoming year.
2. The Chamber suggested a"contact sheet"with who is in charge of what for all committee
people, liaisons, and village personnel.
3. The Beer Garden entertainment was vastly improved this year, but it went a bit late. The
chamber would like more visible security late at night in the area, i.e. 12-6.
4. Drainage and the beer truck pickup issues need to be addressed with Town and Country.
5. There was a problem with restaurant permit parking on Sunday, in regards to a conflict
with the pancake breakfast attendee cars.
6. A. Business Fair Hours: suggest 11-7 on Sat and Sunday and 12-4 on Monday.
B. Better signage is needed stating NO BEER, NO BICYCLES in the Business Fair area
7. The Fundraising went well. There were conflicts only with the Chamber's Golf Outing
efforts. The Chamber needs to coordinate better with the Village and Publicity.
8. The VIP party made no major impact this year on the festival. Some attendees felt it an
inconvenience to walk to the tent and back to get food. Maybe next year, the food could be
brought from the food could be brought from the restaurants and served buffet style in the tent
OR maybe an after the event appreciation party (not during Labor Day weekend). Chamber
will play a role if requested. Mo stated that the party went much better this year.
9. A suggestion came from a resident who called the Chamber office, requesting benches or
chairs in the carnival area for seniors that accompany children. A rest area of sort. Mo stated
that there were chairs over by the calliope.
10. Steve stated that the Village publicity needs to have a proofreader and/or more Chamber
input.
