The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM.
Chairman's Report:
Dean had no report
Police: Jim Newton—no report
Park District: Ryan Risinger - not present
The Climbing Wall will run
Friday 4 p.m. to dark
Saturday 4 p.m. to dark
Sunday 4 p.m. to dark
Monday 10 a.m. to 12 noon
The Home Run Derby will be held at the Emmerich Park baseball diamond.
The Park District will be moving the Park District show to Willow Stream park with a Dog Day
Afternoon theme. They will starting the Home Run Derby on Saturday afternoon which will
generate a lot of traffic at a good time for vendors, rides etc.
Parade: Joe Tenerelli—
There will be a Committee of 4 people, to include DeAnn, Joe and two others to make the
selection for Grand Marshal. Mo suggested that we use the overall theme of honoring our
hometown heroes, including one serviceman, honoring the 9/11 event.
This year there will be three co-Marshals honoring hometown heroes
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake—not present
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen—not present
Fire Department: Troy Shannon—no report
Public Works; Ray Rigsby—not present
Trustee Liason: DeAnn Glover—
The Co-Grand Marshals will be honoring the police and fire departments, with a primary Grand
Marshal representative of the servicemen. DeAnn stated that she felt that this person is a Grand
Marshal in his own right, but will represent all service men and women as Co-Grand Marshal in
the parade
Chamber: Steve Panitch—
On Thursday we will have 2 more restaurants. Steve stated that we need 4 more for
Saturday/Sunday and one more for Thursday.
Steve presently has 10 restaurants.
July 15 is the deadline for the for BG restaurants, need 3-4 more restaurants.
The Business Fair has sold out the 20 booths. A double booth was sold to Arlington Toyota, as
they are bringing car.
We have 2 new businesses this year
There is an issue for the arts and craft vendors in getting them back to campus quicker. They are
waiting too long for buses. It was suggested that we might be able to use a passenger van for the
use of transporting the vendors. Arlington Toyota has agreed to provide a van. It is up to the
committee to work out the timing and the insurance. Finding a driver needs to be a job of the
committee.
Food Tent: Tom Johns —
All but one booth. is filled. That one is pending.
In the selling of soda by the Boy Scouts, there will be pop on both sides of the tent, with the same
boy scout troop selling at each booth. Another Boy Scout group was approached but they were
not interested in selling soda.
Arts and Crafts: Nikki Lee/Glenda Hoelting—not present
Nikki left a message that she has 20 checks in thus far, and hopes to get 10-12 more.
Carnival: Paulette Greenberg—
Paulette stated that she has 5 booths, including the library, for the Children's Expo.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—
She has a karaoke DJ, Robert Devine, who does Bumpers. He will bring the equipment over, and
leave it for the weekend.
Karen is still working on a Jazz band for Saturday
Fund Raisin: Sara Herman—
Money continues to be pledged and is coming in.
In regards to Friends of the Festival, one check came in.
Publicity: - Chantal Davidson
Chantal needs:
List of vendors for business fair
List of rides for carnival
Names of who will be in the booths for the Children's Expo booths.
Paulette will give a blurb for the Village newsletter.
Carrie at the Herald is working on the Supplement for the Herald. She must have information of
all areas about the festival. She needs to fill it up with articles and also needs areas of sponsorship
from publicity.
It was suggested that Mo's letter from last year be reprinted. Carrie may want to do the history
of BG days. The Herald has hired a free lance writer who may be able to help with some of the
writing. Karen Danenberg wrote her own articles last year.
The Herald must sell advertising for the insert.
The Tribune also needs advertisement and articles for the BG and Lake Zurich inserts.
Mo stated that each department head in charge of their own area of interest should be responsible
in getting the needed information to Chantal.
Mo suggested that the department heads use last year's supplement and mark it up and fix for this
year.
Chantal stated that she also needed photos for the article. The Park District has the pictures of
the headliners right now
It was noted that the Pioneer Press gave 2 pages to Frontier Days
Village Liaison: Bill Brimm - no report
Ken Lazar made a motion to adjourn.
