Tom Johns,
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM.
A welcome was given by Tom Johns, who stated that he was looking forward to working with the
BG committee group. He stated that he was happy he and JV were chosen to be co-chairpersons
for the committee.
Tom stated that the festival will remain in the same location as previous years. Tom, JV, Bill, and
Ray met with a representative of St. Mary's. St. Mary's has been gracious enough to allow us to
use the property for the festival.
JV stated that he had drawn up organizational charts for the committee for the members and other
outside persons to understand the chain of command and who to go to with specific problems.
He stated that he has added areas to the chart. Most of the same chairpersons are back from last
year. Paulette Greenberg will continue to do the Carnival. Karen Danenberg will continue with
Entertainment. JV hopes that Chantal Davidson will do the PR but he has been unable to contact
her to confirm this. Pam Soracco will continue to organize the VIP party.
Joe Tenerelli will continue to organize the Parade. Nikki Lee will continue with the Arts and
Crafts. Doug Primack will become the new Audio and Visual Chairperson. JV stated that they
are now looking for someone to be in charge of the Food Tent. JV also wants to put someone in
charge of the Information Booth, who will have all the schedules and the list of Chairpersons for
anyone's reference. He wants a master book that has all the events of each day to be kept at the
information booth. He would also like to have someone in charge of the set up and take down.
JV stated that each chairperson is to get someone to back them up in their responsibilities and he
wants the Chairpersons to use those back-up people. He wants them trained so that they can
eventually move up to the Chairperson position.
There are 10 areas of liaison:
Scott Fishkin will organize the Business Fair.
Sara Herman and Ron Jess will be liaisons for the Chamber.
Jim Newton will be liaison for the Police Department.
Troy Shannon will be the liaison for the Fire Department.
Ray Rigsby will be the liaison for the Public Works Department.
Rick Kahen will be the liaison for the Disabilities Program.
Bill Brimm and Jane Olson will be liaisons for the Village.
Roger Remblake will still do the MobileCom.
DeAnn Glover will be the Trustee liaison.
Carmen Molinaro will work with the golf carts.
JV has not heard from Ryan Risinger to find out if he will, again, be the liaison for the Park
District.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—
Karen stated that she brought back the entertainment to the crafts area. The gymnastics did not
work, as there was not enough room. The Beer tent will have 2 nights of karaoke. Karen plans
to use the same entertainment ideas this year. She stated that she is unsure of what happened at
the teen stage when they had their "incident". She plans to keep most the Beer Tent bands from
last year. She has already been in touch with the entertainment booking agent to start contracting
with the bands. She would like to set up a Family Tent on Monday either in the food tent with the
entertainment on one side and the food vendors on the other side, or use the Beer Tent for the
Family Tent on Monday. That can be decided in the future. She plans on having only one big act
per night. That seemed to bring in the people. She hopes not go out of the Chicagoland area for
entertainment. Karen stated that she needs to find someone to act as her back-up for
entertainment.
New ideas:
Tom would like to try to get some type of events that go back to the olden days of festivals, such
as pie eating contests, or baking contests.
He also suggested a Garden walk.
Another idea for the kids would be an egg toss or water balloon toss.
Ideas were give to have kids decorate their bikes for the parade.
Maybe consider an outstanding high school student for a co marshal position, to get more
teenagers involved. The winner could be announced Saturday night and then walk in the parade
on Sunday.
There was a question about if there would be new t-shirts this year. No decision was made at this
time. Rocco will bring a catalog for the next meeting
We also need to recruit additional members for the committee. New members to join the
committee are Lee Orlov and Barry Goodman. Mo Welborn will be back as well as Dean and
Glenda Hoelting. Tracy and Rocco will be back to clean up on Monday. JV stated that members
should bring new people to next meeting if they want to join. They must be at least 18 years old
to be a committee member.
Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover—
DeAnn wishes to welcome everyone back this year. She wishes to congratulate Tom and JV in
their new Co-Chairperson position. They have taken off running since their appointments. Ray
Rigsby, Bill Brimm, Tom, and JV got together with St Mary's church and Father Rezel., and
resolved the issue of the festival location for this year. DeAnn stated that she has been
reappointed as liaison for the committee, but reminded everyone that this is an election year and
she is up for re-election.
Respectively submitted
Jane Primack
