Chairman's Report:
Tom will not be present tonight.
Monday, for this year's festival, pray for good weather. It is a special day for families and kids.
We worked hard to get special entertainment for them so we hope to duplicate it this year.
J.V. stated that he wanted everyone who comes to the festival to enjoy themselves, as well as
everyone who works on the committee. That is why JV and Tom request that every chairperson
has a back up. JV wants everyone to see the fireworks this year, spend time with their families,
and see some of the entertainment.
JV states that we have the best professional staff in our police and fire department to assist with
the festival.
He is still looking for someone to be in charge of the information booth this year.
JV states that we are putting out to bids on the tents and the power, and to let Ray know if
anyone has any ideas.
For the Main stage sound and lighting system, there are people wanting to bid on this, but bids
need to be as a package. We've had a new sound company the last few years.
Bids on the tents will include the tables, chairs and lighting inside the tents. JV is looking into the
possibility of getting ceiling fans along with the lighting. He stated that if lighting is needed in the
VIP tent, he will run a power line from the beer tent.
New business:
Janie, JV's wife, will head up the Rally for Life this year. If anyone is interested in signing up,
each person needs pledges of$100, and we need 10 people minimum per team. If we have
enough, we will staff a second team.
The dates are Junel3-14 at Buffalo Grove high school. JV stated that if you have never been
involved, do so this year. It is a very moving experience.
JV is also looking into ideas to expand the festival, to possibly bring back an old country fair
feeling with a pie eating contest, or hotdog eating contests. There will be more on that in the
coming weeks.
Monday afternoon is very slow and there is no beer tent. Ron Jess stated that the beer truck will
be out before the Monday activities.
In regards to new shirts for the committee members, Ron will bring some information and pictures
to the next meeting. We need to decide on the style and color for the shirts. It was suggested
that we get both men's and women's sizes this time. Debbie Jess suggested that we have the
word Staff on the back of the shirts to make the committee members more visible.
Police: Jim Newton—Not present
Park District: Ryan Risinger -
Ryan stated that the Park District wants to put information regarding the festival along with a
calendar of events into the seasonal brochure. He stated that he would like to run ideas for the
brochure past the committee.
Ryan asked if on Saturday, during the day, is there is a block of time that the park district could
use the main stage. If not, could the committee get an auxiliary stage for their use.
Ryan stated that the BG Park District would like to have the equivalent to American Idol, have a
show of amateur singers, gymnastic groups, etc. Karen stated that she would need the park
district to help audition the kids. This would only be open to BG residents.
Main stage would be available from 12:30-4:30. The program must be done by 4:30. Karen
reminded Ryan that whatever band is booked for the evening will have their own drums on the
back of the stage. The drum set cannot be moved. Ryan stated that they would need only one
hour for the American Idol program.
Ryan said that they might try to do some games on Saturday, and will have the dog show on
Monday.
Ryan asked when the Teen Stage is used. Karen said that the Teen stage was booked Friday and
Saturday nights from 8-10. Ryan stated that there was a request for a home run contest that
would need to be in the area of the Teen Stage.

a 70-80's type band. Karen stated that Sara, also, wanted her to listen to a band, which she has
not yet done.

in touch with Karen.
