checked in at 7lbs 8oz. and 20 inches long.
Welcome back to the world traveler- DeAnn
JV: The last date for information to be in the BG Newsletter is July 15th. All information has to
be given to Phil by this date. He will give the committee heads proofs to read. Last year there
were many errors. Each committee head is being asked to check for errors and report them to
Phil ASAP.
Police: Jim Newton—
St Mary's youth group will charge for parking in the St Mary's parking lot. The price will be
determined by them. Bill Brimm offered to have the Village make the signs posting this
information, to be placed on the fence on St. Mary's property. (The entertainers will be able to
get through to park their cars behind the stage area)
Jim will work with St Mary's to coordinate the access to the public roads. Tom will secure a
copy of their scheduled activities and services for that weekend.
Jim will have the colored parking permits ready for our August 19th meeting. Permits will be for
the entertainers, food vendors, committee members, government officials, and others. There will
be 12 different colors in all.
Park District: Ryan Risinger—not present
Parade: Joe Tenerelli—No report.
JV will contact Joe about the Grand Marshal choice.
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake—
Roger says everything is ok. At the last meeting the 20 radio rentals were approved.
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen—
The location for the wheelchair basketball has been determined to be between the Chamber office
and Building/Zoning office. It's flat and has no sewers in that area. The Park District has agreed
to set up and take down the basketball nets.
The Boy Scouts of Kingswood Church have offered their services for this event.
A suggestion was made for signage to be made leading to this event. Rick says the DJ will be
telling people too.
Fire Department: Troy Shannon—not present
Public Works: Ray Rigsby—not present
Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover—
DeAnn spoke with Elliot prior to this meeting. Discussion ensued about the booth locations for
politicians and other taxing agencies. It was decided that booths/tables would not be provided for
politicians. Their activities would be limited to handing out literature but not from a booth or
table. Taxing districts will be put in a separate area to be determined. There will be no charge,
but we will not provide them with tables and chairs. They will have to supply their own.
The Secretary of State's office is providing a community service. They will be doing children
fingerprinting. We will put the booth in the Children's Expo. (They will need electricity. Doug
Primack can patch the electricity from a generator).
Voter Registration (if scheduled) should be as near as possible to the Information Booth. No
taxing bodies should be located near information booth.
There was additional discussion about the parade marshal selection process as well as the order of
the parade. Due to Joe's absence, DeAnn will be talking to him and more information will be
discussed at the next meeting.
Rick said the Disability Commission and the Fine Arts Commission have discussed sharing a table.
DeAnn will discuss with other trustees where they want to place the Commission's tables possibly
near the Information Booth. She'll advise the Committee at the next meeting.
Chamber: Ron Jess and Sara Herman—
The Business Fair spaces are filled. Two companies are on the waiting list. Ray will be involved
with those booths that need electricity.
The Restaurants have all been approved, with no changes.
Coca-Cola has contacted the Chamber. Forms have been sent to them, but not yet returned. It is
unknown if they want to sell their product at the festival or just distribute the drinks. Hopefully
more information will be available at the next meeting.
Outback Steakhouse will be at BG Days Thursday night. They will donate their profits from that
night to a charity.
Shuttle buses will be available for the business fair vendors and crafters.
Ron has arranged for the phones for the bus drivers but the Chamber will not be responsible for
them this year. The service is from ComCast Cable—Sara is handling this item.
Food Tent: - No report
Setup/Take down: —no report
Arts and Crafts: Nikki Lee - not present
Carnival: Paulette Greenberg - no report
Children's Expo: Paulette Greenberg—
We have 4 paid booths. LeLeche League wants a `free' space near the Information Booth to pass
out literature. Paulette had told the rep they could have a booth in the Children's Expo for $35.
The Committee decided that no free space be given to this group. They are welcome in the
Children's Expo for the non-profit group $35 fee.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—
5 tapes have been received for the BG Idol contest. Karen is contacting the Park District to see if
they can find more kids. No emcee has been hired for this event. The only cost has been the
newspaper advertising.
Perhaps Phil could get the word out on cable TV. They have until the end of July to submit tapes.
We'll see at the next meeting how many tapes have come in then decide.
Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe—no report
Corporate Sponsorship Sara Herman—
Sara stated that she continues to collect corporate sponsorship funds for the festival.
Publicity: - Chantal Davidson - no report
VIP Party: Pam Soracco —
Pam needs an official list from the Village on who to invite, from various departments within the
Village. Bill Brimm wants Janet Sirabian, the Village Clerk, the trustees, and the village president
to be invited.
Corporate sponsors get one ticket for each $100 they donated. Pam reports many people have
offered to help her committee this year.
Information Booth: Ken Lazar—
Ken needs more volunteers to sign up for the Information Booth.
Village Liaison: Bill Brimm—No report
The next meeting will be July 22. There will be a meeting every Tuesday in August
On August 26th, after the meeting we will have a get together for the whole committee.
