Chairman's Report: Tom stated that the Secretary of State can not accommodate us in providing a booth for driver's license renewal due to the budget constraints of the state. Joe will order shirts for all new members of the committee, the same color as last year. Hopefully, we will get new shirts next year, so only one shirt per person is needed. If anyone needs name tags, sign up for them after the meeting and JV will get them made. Police: Jim Newton—no report Jim has the parking permits to hand out for everyone. Park District: Ryan Risinger—not present Parade: Joe Tenerelli - Joe has received 4 applications for Grand Marshal. John Green will not be able to do the narration of parade. Bill Means will do the narration this year. Joe has 40 to 45 applications for the parade to date. Budget constraints for many groups are limiting applications for the parade. Mobile Com: Roger Remblake - Roger stated that he is good to go. Fun and Food: Rick Kahen—not present Tom states that St. Mary's will provide free parking for the Fun and Food program on Monday Fire Department: Troy Shannon—not present Public Works; Ray Rigsby—not present Per Bill Brimm: Ray reports that contracts are out on the Porta-Potties. Also Karen's trailer is set. The electrical contract is also out. Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover—no report Chamber: Ron Jess and Sara Herman - The Business Fair is full and they have a waiting list. In regards to the Food Tent, all food items have been approved. They now have a waiting list for the food vendors. The meeting with restaurants and the Business Fair vendors will be August 5th. The not-for-profit organizations should plan to come to the restaurant meeting also. Sara stated that she has 4 restaurants for Thursday night, which are: Little Italian, Dominick's, Penguino's, and Outback Steakhouse. The Fox and Hound is also interested in possibly providing food for Thursday night. Food Tent: Steve Schultz - Steve states that he has the not-for-profits lined up for the food tent. The Rotary Club bingo is Thursday night from 6:30 to 11:30. The pancake breakfast will be on Sunday from 8-11 with a raffle between 11 and 11:30. The Youth Commission will sell cotton candy. St Mary's will sell coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fruit juices, and sport drinks. The Girl Scouts will sell the roasted corn this year. The Boy Scouts will sell cans of soda. Kingswood Church will sell baked goods. Na' Amat's will be serving water, Good Humor ice cream, and candy. The Amvets will sell nuts. The Colitis Foundation will sell fresh lemonade and sugar cane juice. The VFW will sell popcorn. It was noted that the overall price of corn in general has gone up and that other festivals are charging more for their corn. Paulette made a motion to approve the not-for-profits as stated by Steve. The motion was approved. Setup/Take down: — Arts and Crafts: Nikki Lee Nikki stated that she has 35 spaces filled for the Arts and Craft Fair, with more coming in. One group wants to sell pastries at the Arts and Craft fair. It is a church group that feels the food tent is too expensive. It was decided that the pastries are not appropriate for the Craft fair. Tom stated that we have a van driver and van available at all times for Nikki this year for the Craft area. Carnival: Paulette Greenberg - Paulette stated that she has the ticket booth signup sheet tonight. She stated that a number of seniors have volunteered to come back this year. Children's Expo: Paulette Greenberg - Paulette stated that she has 5 to 6 booths for the Expo this year. The Taste of Lincolnshire had the Putting Edge and that same group would like to get a booth without cost at the Children's Expo this year. They would charge for the game of miniature golf, with all the money they take in will be donated to the BG Committee. They would set up in the Children's Expo area and charge per game. Entertainment: Karen Danenberg— Karen stated that she received a phone call from Ghida Neukirch who is the Village Staff Liaison to the symphonic band. They have decided to march in the parade and cannot make their 2:30 show time and wish to be re-scheduled for another time frame. Bill Brimm also stated that the Glenbrook band was rained out at the 4th of July and the Village would like them to play at BG Days. It was decided that the Glenbrook band will play at the Rotary Green Park Sunday night before the fireworks from 7-9 PM. The village has already paid them $350 for being rained out. The Committee would be responsible for the remainder of the $350 fee. Karen stated that she has received 26 tapes for the BG Idol contest. There were a great number of tapes in the 10-12 year age group. Karen has chosen 8 finalists. Karen questioned if the committee wishes to see the tapes. Karen will arrange for any committee member to see the tapes after the next meeting. The tapes are 18 minutes total for the 8 finalists. Karen stated that she needs to get the BG Idol logo made into a sign. She will talk to Ray about it. Karen stated that a local DJ would like to provide the karaoke for the contest free of charge. Ron Jess will get T-shirts that the kids will wear on stage for the BG Idol contest. The prizes for the winners are in Karen's budget. Karen will need 3 judges, none of which have been picked yet. The contest is on Saturday from 3 to 4. The entire contest will be video taped to be played on the local access cable channel. CLTV will be running this contest. Karen asked if we want any blow up games on Saturday at the Children's Expo. Karen is considering two games for the kid's entertainment this year, at a cost of approximately $400. Karen needs ideas of what games to order. The committee did not want the Velcro game. It was suggested games for younger children such as a crawling type games. Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe—no report Corporate Sponsorship Sara Herman - Sara continues to take in money from the Corporate Sponsorship. Publicity: - Chantal questioned where she gets the money to pay for the ads. Answer given was from Bill Brimm. Chantal has what will go in the Village newsletter. She states everyone needs to look at and proofread what will go in the newsletter for their specific area. This needs to be reviewed and corrected tonight. Sara requested that she call Chantal tomorrow first thing as all her notes are at home Sara wishes to refer to the notes to assure accuracy. VIP Party: Pam Soracco — Pam stated that she talked to Dorfler's meat market who will supply the meat and some other food for a reduced rate for the VIP party. Pam is not sure how many people will be coming, but expects about 100 people this year. The menu she is considering is skirt steaks, twice baked potatoes and marinated mushrooms. Dorfler's will throw in hot dogs for any possible kids attending. This menu will cost $4.25 per plate. We will have to cook the steak ourselves, which need to be grilled 3-4 minutes each side. Pam stated that Confetti"s may donate the use of a grill. Pam will talk to them about it. 210 invitations were sent out this year. 16 people from the village were invited. 4 or 5 have been invited from St Mary's. Last year she spent $300 total, but she states that the sponsors are expecting more that just pasta dinner, and feels it is time to upgrade the menu. The corporate sponsors will also be invited. Pam hopes to get the drinks from Sam's Club. The beer will come from the Beer Tent.
