The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM.
Chairman's Report:
Tom states that his is the last meeting before the big show begins. He wishes to thank the entire
committee for all their work. He states that this should be a short meeting. JV stated that he is
glad to see Mo and Dean present at the meeting and asked for any words of wisdom at this stage.
Mo emphasized that everyone needs to have fun. She told all committee members that if
something goes wrong don't let the patrons know. Keep smiling. JV apologies for any
transgressions he or Tom might do over the weekend. He reminded the committee members that
we are ambassadors of the Village for the weekend. JV also wishes to thank everyone for all the
work they have done. He reminded the members to remember that this is the big picnic for the
Village. JV also wished to thank all the village employees who worked on the committee. Lastly,
JV reminded everyone to enjoy each day, take some time off, and go on some rides. JV stated
that there are a limited number of golf carts. He reminds everyone to use caution on the carts.
He does not want any accidents. There are 10 phones. Six go to the buses. Others will be at the
information booth, etc. The lost and found will be at the information booth. Items will be taken
over to the police department later.
Police: Jim Newton -
Everything is all set.
Park District: Ryan Risinger -
Everything is all set.
Parade: Joe Tenerelli -
Joe states that he has 85 units for the parade. He stated that he already has 6 parade marshals, but
would like 2 more. He will meet with the marshals after the meeting. Other than that, everything
is all set.
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake -
Roger states that he does not have too many radios. JV will decide who gets a radio. Members
are to check at the information booth to see if they get one. There will be a radio in the Beer tent.
Mobile Com will be working Thursday, through Monday during the festival. Mobile Com is the
call name to use if trying to call that unit. Roger requests that his proper name not be used on the
radio when calling Mobile Com. If you need the police or fire, call Mobile Com. Mobile Com is
to be called for all emergency departments. Mobil Com is also to be called if you have a lost child
or parent. When information of a lost child is put out over radio, listen to the information to help
find the child. Roger requests that the members let Mobile Com know what is happening on the
grounds. Members are to bring pertinent information back to the information booth or to the
Mobile Com unit.
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen -
Rick states that he is all ready to go. Ryan will bring the hoops in for the basketball game on
Monday. Ryan will set them up. The police will have the area roped off. Rick reminded
members of lunch box duty at the food tent starting 10-10:30 for the Fun and Food program on
Monday. Other than that, Rick has no report.
Fire Department: Troy Shannon -
No report
Public Works; Ray Rigsby -
Ray states that he has the proofs for the signage. Ray states that he is all set.
Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover -
DeAnn stated that she wanted to emphasize that the committee members need to have a good
time this weekend. If we have a good time, then the people attending will have fun also.
Remember to smile. We are ambassadors for the Village this weekend. DeAnn stated that we
will have a great time and we will be tired. Remember that we need a breather for ourselves, also.
Let people see you, check to see if they need help at the ticket booth or at the Information Booth.
It looks like it will be chilly this weekend. This will cool tempers this weekend hopefully. DeAnn
stated that the Board is grateful for the hard work of the committee. We, the committee member,
make the Board members look good.
Chamber: Ron Jess and Sara Herman -
Ron stated that he is set. Sara stated that there is one change in the restaurants, that one of the
restaurants will serve coffee on Thursday night. Also, Tacos El Norte will not be coming as they
could not get a refrigerator for the festival.
Food Tent: Steve Schultz -
Steve has no report.
Setup/Take down: —
No report
Arts and Crafts: Nikki Lee/
Nikki stated that she has 56 booths. She asked that the van information be faxed over to her prior
to the start of the festival. She stated that she has her meeting tomorrow night for all the crafters.
She wishes to have it as close as possible to the festival. Other than that, she is done.
Carnival: Paulette Greenberg -
Paulette stated that the rides have been brought in for the festival. The inspections will take place
on Thursday: the rides at 11 am and the games at 3. We do have the Ferris Wheel this year. Of
course we have the fast rides.
Children`s Expo: Paulette Greenberg -
Paulette stated that the Putt Putt golf unit is coming. All the kids get prizes for playing. The
owner will keep back $50 for the prizes and the rest of the profits will go to the village. Paulette
has 10 booths for the Children's Expo.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—
Karen states that there will be entertainment. Karen mentioned that there was a 12 year old boy
who alerted a family of a fire in their home. He walked by on his way to football practice and saw
the smoke coming out of the garage. He rang the bell and got the family out. He will ride on the
fire truck in the parade in honor of his actions. Sunday night, the Symphonic band will not be able
to play. They have another commitment. Karen states that all the other entertainment will be
there. Karen needs to see all of her people after the meeting.
Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe—
Doug states that the beer tent is set. He states that he got in touch with the sound company and
will have the right equipment. There is a late band entry on the Teen stage. This will require a
sound system. We will try to use the DJ's PA system with additional equipment from Doug and
Adam. Power will be needed on the teen stage Friday and Saturday nights.
Corporate Sponsorship Sara Herman -
Sara states that for the Friends of the Fest, tonight is the last night that members can give her $25
and she will put up their family name as a Friend of the Fest on the big board. Other than that,
she has no report.
Publicity: - Chantal Davidson -
No report.
VIP Party: Pam Soracco —
Pam states that she has had flowers and candy donated. Deerfield Bakery will provide a sheet
cake.
Rosa will deliver the bread. Lou Malinati's will provide a salad.
Sauer's Bakery will donate cookies. Pam still has to buy charcoal and napkins.
She already has cups, plates, and silverware. She will start decorating the tent at 3:30. Anyone
interested in helping please come by the VIP tent. Pam questioned whether she will have
electricity. It was confirmed that she will.
Long Grove Confectionary will provide chocolate. She has requested a permit from the Health
Department and will have it by the end of the week. She will need help on Sunday setting up the
tables and chairs at the VIP tent.
Information Booth: Ken Lazar—
Ken stated that tonight will be the last chance to sign up for the information booth.
Village Liaison: Bill Brimm—
The meeting was adjourned at 7:30.
