Chairman's Report:
JV wished to thank everyone for their participation in a great festival this year.
He stated that there was not a lot of focus on complaints and there were few people hurt.
He said that we will have changes for next year.
Tom and JV will return again next year as co-chairpersons.
JV wanted to thank everyone for their compliance with the issue about alcohol. JV stated that
the response was very positive. JV was grateful that we had good weather. Most of the trustees
were walking after the wheelchair basketball game. Adam did a great job announcing the game.
JV noted that we had a smaller number of lost children this year. He also commented that
Mobile Com's mini jail worked out well.
Tom stated that he and JV have not gotten fired yet so they will give it a try again next year.
Tom wanted to thank the police and fire for all their hard work.
Tom said that they want to talk about what worked and what did not work during the festival.
JV wanted to thank the administration for all their support.
Police: Mike Millett-
Mike stated that he had a lot of discussion and feed back after the festival.
He said that he had nothing but positive comments on the smooth operation of the festival.
Mike stated that the biggest headache is the Teen Stage. They had 4 arrests, all related to each
other but none on festival property. The incidents were spill off from the Teen Stage. Mike
stated that kids will meet up no matter what. He said that his staff is discussing how to usher
people out of the Teen Stage area in a better manner, but it is premature to talk about changes.
He had a couple of lighting issues, possibly due to the portable units. Other than that, there were
no serious issues.
JV stated that the big problem with the Teen Stage is that we are limited where to empty the kids
out of the Ten Stage area. This is either to the carnival or to the woods, as we cannot let them
leave out onto Lake Cook Road.
Mike stated that the Police had a sense of belonging to the festival and he was grateful to be
involved.
JV thanked Mike for all his hard work.
JV then stated that, hopefully, we will be stuck with Mike next year. Mike stated that he will be
back again.

Fun and Food: Rick Kahen -

Rick wished to thank everyone who pitched in all weekend long with the shuttle cart, the Fun
and Food and the Wheelchair Basketball program.
Rick stated that we gave away all of the lunches, which we had prepared 450.
Rick wanted to give thanks to everyone, especially for Monday morning.
He also wished to thank everyone who helped with the basketball game.
If anyone has suggestions for next year, Rick wishes to know.
Rick said that he had a lot of people with questions as to why there are no benches on the
carnival side of the festival. Paulette stated that Astro had metal benches there last year, at the
calliope wagon. JV stated that we have never had them there before that.
JV thanked Rick for all his work.
JV also wished to thank Continental Restaurant, who fed all the basketball players after the
game.
Fire Department: George Michehl

pyrotechnics company and they will be returning next year.
Public Works, Dave HaismaBrett Robinson
Dave stated that they had a meeting at Public Works and the staff, there, wanted to thank the
committee for all their work. The staff members stated that they were frequently receiving
kudo's from committee members for all their hard work and the staff appreciated the recognition
for the work they did. Dave stated that there were some minor problems to be addressed next
year. Dave stated that the extra generator was a good idea. There were no complaints from the
Business Fair and the Food Tent
Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover-
DeAnn stated that this is the first meeting after the BG Days festival. She said that the festival is
the best PR we can give ourselves. We put on the festival with the least number of volunteers
than any community around here. We all have twice as much work to do.
She wanted to give thanks to everyone because we, the committee, make the Village Board look
good. The Police and Public Works do the best job of taking ownership of the festival. Bill
Brimm works all weekend in the Village Hall. She hopes everyone will be back next year.
Deann stated that she is reappointed Village Board Liaison for the BG Days again for next year.
JV thanked DeAnn for watching our back and being the committee advocate.
Chamber: Ron Jess and Sara Herman -
Sara wished to give thanks to PW for all the work in the set up of the festival.
The Beer Tent was fantastic with the police support.
Sara stated that she would appreciate more police at the end of the night. in the beer tent. She
said that it worked out with the bands at the Beer Tent.
Friday night, the bigger tent was better for the VIP Party. The chamber was happy with the food.
JV thanked Sara for all her hard work and for the Corporate Sponsorship work.
JV also wanted to give thanks to Cartwheels for cooking the food for the VIP party and the
Chamber for getting so much of the food donated.
Thanks to Pam and Mary for all their hard work in setting up and running the VIP Party.
It worked well bringing the music into the VIP tent. We may need more lights next year at the
VIP tent.
Dave asked if there were any issues from the Chamber except for t the Oven at the teen stage.
There were no other problems.
Food Tent: Steve Shultz -
Not present
Tom thanked everyone for the helping to transition from Bingo to the Food Tent Thursday night.
Setup/Take down: —
Everything went very smoothly. It would have helped to have gas in running around finding all
the chairs. Tom stated that the take down on Monday was also great. We ended up with the two
extra chairs that we had lost last year.
Arts and Crafts: Nikki Lee -
Nikki stated that there were lots of bodies and lots of crafts. There was just a lack of traffic. All
the vendors were very good. JV thanked Nikki for all her hard work.
Carnival: Paulette Greenberg -
Paulette stated that Astro has merged with other carnival company. They will now be known as
the North American Midway Entertainment Company. They will give us more rides with an
increase in a variety.
Paulette stated that the newly merged company will not affect our contract. They new company
will provide enhanced training for their people.
Paulette stated that we had problems with the tickets sales for the carnival this year.
She stated that she and Debra did an audit which involved purchases made by committee
members for people other than their own immediate families. This included wrist bands for
trustees and committee members' families/friends, which only went on one or two rides. When
the audit was completed, we lost a significant amount of profits in sales, based on the "give
away/pass out" of the sheet tickets and wristbands. This will be addressed next year as the lost
of revenue for the festival has to stop.
They are still working on further changes for next year. The details will be shared at future
meeting for the next festival.
JV wanted to thank Paulette and Debbie for all their hard work at the carnival.
Children's Expo: Nikki Lee -
Paulette thinks that the children's expo should not continue. The last few years, new ideas have
been tried but they did not take off.
Nikki tried some new things this year and they did not work. Paulette stated that we need to
think of something else for next year.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—
Karen stated that she had lots of help. She wanted to give thanks to everyone.
She said that she appreciated the extra presence of the BGPD by the Main Stage.
Karen is thinking of changing the Teen Stage. Previously, she has had a DJ and they have had 2
hours to do what ever. Next year, she hopes to have an actual teen band play, one of their peers.
The BG Idol contest went well.
Karen voiced concerns about the agreement with the Park District. She allows them time for
performances as the contract with us states. This year, she found out the day before the festival
that they had no one to perform. She feels that this needs to be addressed next year.
Karen stated that she already has a band for Saturday night.
Karen stated that in the future, she will be re-thinking booking a band that needs to fly to
perform at the festival.
Karen expressed her disappointment that there was no newsletter this year, stating that it was
terrible misfortune. Next year, the entertainment will be just as good as this year.
She had good help and liked the Police activity around the entertainment events.
JV thanked Karen for her hard work.
Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe—
Doug stated that we had sound and lots of it all over the place. The Beer Tent ran well with no
power problems. We had a good sync up for the fireworks music. Doug wanted to thank
everyone on his committee for all of their hard work. Doug stated that we will have to rent a PA
system for next year's festival.
JV stated that the sound would have been terrible if there were no AV people.
He said that we had more sound in more places this year.
Corporate Sponsorship Sara Herman -
Sara stated that she did not have the final numbers of how much was raised in Corporate
Sponsorship.
Publicity: Penni Jess -

JV stated that he wished to thank Penni for all her hard work.
Glow Necklaces: Lori Hackett

VIP Party: Pam Soracco—
Not present
No report, per Mary
Information Booth: Ken Lazar—
JV stated that there was an info booth, and it was a dry info booth.
JV commented that the money machine worked all weekend. The carnival side ATM also
worked all weekend long.
Tom commented that the ATM at the info booth did not work the first night of the festival. We
had to have them back to repair the machine.
Village Liaison: Bill Brimm—
No report
Bill wanted to thank everyone for their hard work. He said that our hard work made the village
staff job a lot easier.
Deann asked if those were not the best fireworks ever. The entire committee agreed.
JV stated that the first meeting for next year's festival will be in February. He is proposing a
change for the beginning meetings. He is suggesting that we have an executive meeting of the
six major chairs. The meeting is always open for everyone, but that may make it more
convenient for other committee members by not having to attend all the meeting.
JV will let everyone on the committee know when the next meeting will be.
Paulette made a motion to adjourn. Norma seconded the motion.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:58.
Respectfully submitted.
