JV states he knows of one person who is interested in joining the committee.
The BG Festival will be September 1-5 this year.
JV stated that one mainstay of the carnival is present at the meeting tonight. He wished to
welcome Chillie Willie back to the festival again this year. Last year Chillie Willie had two
stands. Willie stated it was his wife who manned one of the stands. JV thanked Chillie Willie
for coming, saying that he is a mainstay of the carnival.
Police: Mike Millett-
Mike stated that it is great to be back again this year. He had a lot of fun last year and looks
forward to this year.
Mike has no report except that he wishes to reconsider the parking passes. He asked if the
committee really needs multiple colored parking passes for entertainment, food, etc. With the
various colors of the parking passes, Mike states that the enforcement is non existent.
JV suggested having parking passes versus drop off passes.
Pam asked about examining who gets the parking passes and if that many people really need
the passes.
Mike also stated that a high number of officers commented that everyone on the committee
went out of their way to be welcoming and polite to them. He appreciates the courtesy
offered to his officers.

Children's Expo: Nikki Lee -
JV asked if the Children's Expo was dead. Paulette said yes.
Karen asked if we can continue the Expo without the booths. She would still like to have a
family afternoon on Saturday.
Paulette said that is where the Park District should come in.
JV stated that the selling of booths for the Children's Expo is dead.
Karen suggested that we have more of a fair, than commercial booths.
She suggested making it not-for-profit.
Carnival: Paulette Greenberg -
George brought up that the Fire Department did not receive any layout of how the carnival
would be set up, as in where each of the rides would go. George stated that we need some
level of set back from the street for the rides. The slide was too close to Lake Cook Road, in
case someone veers off the road into the rides. George stated that there was some level of
discomfort from the members of the Fire Department
JV stated that we will address that issue later.
Rick mentioned that people drive too fast down Lake Cook Road with all of the people on the
corners.
Mike stated that they cannot decrease the speed limit during the festival.
Rick suggested they use the smart trailer, during the festival. Mike will look into it.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—
Karen stated that she has one act already booked. American English will perform Saturday
night.
For Saturday afternoon, she will consider revamping the BG Idol contest.
She said that the Teen Stage will be changed for this year and wanted the Police to know this.
She plans on having high school bands from area, provide live music on Friday and Saturday.
Karen also mentioned that that last year, she was kind enough to give hours on Saturday and
Sunday to the Park District. The Park District notified her, last year, On Saturday at 10 AM,
that they were canceling their programs. The Park District had a number of groups lined up
to perform those days. She feels that they did not want to run the programs. As a result,
Karen does not wish to not give any time to the Park District for programs. If they wish to
run any programs, Karen wants them to come to her directly and request the time from the
entertainment committee. The question was raised if Karen had a contract with the Park
District. Karen stated that she did have a contract but the Park District did not honor it.
Karen does not plan on getting a national act this year. She said that she is tired of dealing
with the egos and the want lists from the national acts. She felt that it would be nice to get a
variety of entertainment and some bands are a bigger draw than others.
In response to a committee member question, the bands auditioning for the Teen Stage must
submit a video audition tape to be considered for the performance.
Karen also stated that she wants to revamp the entertainment for the Fun and Food day.
People are now staying until 3:30 in the food tent and she wishes to provide entertainment for
them.
Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe—
Doug mentioned that with the change of entertainment for the Teen Stage (DJ to live bands),
we will need to budget for real sound equipment this year.
He suggested that we get a sponsor for the Teen Stage, to help supply a sound system. Adam
recommended that we supply a backline to minimize time between Teen Stage acts. JV stated
that he would talk to Sara about a possible sponsor for the Teen Stage.
