Chairman's Report: Tom stated that he noticed that we have new faces in the crowd for the second meeting in the season. Tom stated that we are an informal group, and if any new member is interested in working on any sub-committee, please let the chair person know of their interest in working with them. The sub-committees are listed on the agenda and will tell you who the sub-chairperson is for each committee. The new members introduced themselves to the committee. Police: Mike Millett- Mike stated that at the first meeting, we talked about an idea of beefing up enforcement of the speed limit on Lake Cook Road. Mike will work with Dave and the sign shop to make signs for"Pedestrian Up Ahead" signage. He will also work with the traffic unit to slow down the traffic west bound, by putting up traffic standards, or warning lights to alert drivers of the pedestrian traffic ahead. Park District: Ryan Risinger—Not present Parade: Joe Tenerelli -Not present Tom stated that it is too early for a report on the parade, per Joe. Tom stated that Joe is always looking for help during the year on the parade so if any of the new people are interested, to let Joe know. Tom also stated that 50% of the committee works the parade during the actual event. Mobile Com: Roger Remblake -Not present Per Adam, Roger has no report. Fun and Food: Rick Kahen -Not present Rick e-mailed JV that there was no report Fire Department: George Michehl -Not present JV stated that George will coordinate the inspections of the food tent and carnival, and the inspection of the fireworks. Public Works: Dave HaismaBrett Robinson -Not present Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover—Not present Chamber: Sara Herman—Not present Corporate Sponsorship Sara Herman—Not present Food Tent: Steve Shultz -Not present Tom stated that Steve could use some help in the Food Tent if any of the new members are interested. Setup/Take down: — JV stated that the Setup/Take down is a universal job for all committee members. The most help is needed on Thursday night after bingo and Monday starting around 4, when all the tables and chairs have to be stacked, counted and accounted for. Arts and Crafts: Jim and Joan Pawlak Jim stated that Nikki recommended that we raise the fees from $125 to $150 this year for each crafter. Paulette said that most fees are higher at other festivals. JV asked to put the issue on the table until next month when they have more information regarding what other festivals charge. Jim suggested that we use the extra money to rent space for the crafters to park in St Mary's parking lot and to donate the money to the church. Jim stated that we could avoid the expense of renting the van. Mary mentioned that the van was donated. Jim said that it was a hassle to drive everyone back to their cars at the end of each day. Jim said that he and Joan want to do more advertising for crafters this year. They will be placing ads in the local newspaper. They also plan on taking out an ad in a craft newspaper. They can put an ad in for $300 for 5 months. This would be 3 months to get crafters and 2 months to get buyers. JV suggested that Jim write up a proposal for next meeting regarding all of this. Arlene mentioned that last year, there were complaints of not enough trash cans in the craft area. Children's Expo: Nikki Lee - JV stated that the Children's Expo may be in or may be out. A decision has not been made yet. Paulette stated that there should be no more Children's Expo. She did have a suggestion for Saturday afternoon. The VIP Tent is already up and not being used except for the Friday night VIP party. She suggested that we use the tent for a bake off contest. We could have three levels of competition. It would simply be a make and bring contest, with no baking occurring in the tent. She suggested that we approach Deerfield Bakery to sponsor the event. We would have to find judges for the contest. JV suggested that Paulette talk to Sara about going to Deerfield's bakery for the sponsorship. Mary said that there may be issues with the Health department. JV stated that we have a number of Food Pantries in the area. He said that he would like to coordinate for a lot press regarding a food drive during the festival. He said that many times for bar/bat mitzvahs and for confirmations, the kids must do community service. This would give the kids a chance to fulfill this requirement while working for the community. JV`s wife wants to organize it. The donations will go to other churches and groups to help out the food pantries in the area. Carnival: Paulette Greenberg - Sandy from Astro has one request. She wants to bring in a climbing wall. JV stated that if she clears it with Park District and then the Fire Department and then Public Works, he has no problem with a climbing wall. The question was raised as to who to contact in the Park District as we have not had a liaison attending any of our meeting and we are unsure of who the liaison now is. JV stated to have Sandy to talk to Jane Olson at Village Hall. Jim Ferrara knows a number of the people at the Park District. He will contact the Park District about who is now liaison for the committee. He will contact Mary and then Paulette, who will pass it on to Sandy. Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—Not present. Karen e-mailed her report to Jane. Karen has the line up for the Main Stage. Friday we will have the group Infinity Saturday we will have the group American English Sunday we will have John Landecker and the Legends. Karen has signed contracts for all of the groups. Karen has also been in touch with Buffalo Grove High School and Stevenson to invite any high school rock bans to send a CD to try out for the Teen Stage on Friday and Saturday. If they want to perform, they are to submit a CD by April 1 st. Paulette stated that Karen has only spent $12,000 on entertainment so far. A question was asked about BG Idol contest. Paulette stated that that is still up for consideration. Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe— Doug stated that this year, they are planning on bidding out the sound and stage equipment. Doug mentioned that at last meeting, JV was to ask Sara about getting Sam Ash to sponsor the teen stage. JV stated that he is still working on that. PublicijyL Penni Jess -Not present Debbi Jess stated that Penni will be home in May. Glow Necklaces: Lori HackettNot present VIP Party: Pam Soracco— Pam asked if we wanted to go with the skirt steaks again this year. The decision was yes. Pam will start getting some prices for the food. She will also work with chamber to get food donations from the business community. Information Booth: Ken Lazar—Not present JV stated that the Information Booth will be there. Village Liaison: Bill Brimm—Not present JV asked if there are any questions. Pam Soracco stated that Culligan has committed to 20 cases of water for the committee for general use. JV stated that some of committee areas that need help are the Parade and Food Tent. Ron Jess stated this year, he will working on the committee as an actual member. He stated that he is no longer part of the Chamber. He would be interested in working on the Food Tent. JV stated that there may also be needed people in audio visual sub-committee. He said that last year we had more music in more places than ever before. Adam asked if we will be using the Rotary Green again this year for entertainment. JV stated that he felt we could plan for that JV stated that we will also need help on the Publicity committee. VIP party will need helping hands on the day of the party. The next meeting will be April 12. Mary Moodhe made a motion to adjourn. Rhonda Norman seconded the motion.
