village and the Chief of Police about this issue. Mike stated that the decision was made years
ago by a former chair person of BG Days, not to allow people to throw candy from floats.
This decision was reversed, due to pressure from people higher up. The throwing of candy is

Food Tent: Steve Shultz -
All the not-for-profits have responded. Steve has 9 spots filled. He has two new booths in
the tent. One is JCYS who will offer a pickle on or off a stick. The other is the Buffalo
Grove Orchestra which will sell cotton candy.
Steve stated that in the past, there was a range of prices charged to the not-for-profits for their
booths. Steve would like to standardize all the prices. He is suggesting $125 for everyone.
He stated that it will come out to be the same amount of money. Food Tent vendors pay the
same amount for their booths as does the Business Fair. Steve felt there is a need to
standardize the charge for all not for profits booths. Steve made the motion to standardize the
price for the not-for-profit booths at $125, starting this year. Adam seconded the motion.
Howard made a motion to increase to the charge for the booths to $150. Steve rejected
Howard's offer. JV stated that if we are trying to make money off the not-for-profits, we
have problems. Steve's original motion was carried.
Steve stated that he has one more not-for-profit that would like to be in Food Tent. All the
not-for-profit spaces that Steve has are occupied. Last year, a not-for-profit dropped out and
the Chamber used it for a restaurant in the Food Tent. Steve wants to know if the Chamber
has a spot for his not-for-profit group. He said that the group is the Buffalo Grove K of C,
who does not have a product yet. JV will look into how many spots may be available from the
chamber. JV stated that the Chamber pays for part of the food tent, for the beer tent and for
part of the chairs and tables.
The following is an addendum to the Food Tent report from the June 14, 2005 meeting.
Per an e-mail sent to Tom Johns, The following is a list of the not-for-profits that will be

Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—
Karen stated that the schedule is full. She is signed, sealed, and delivered, and is under
budget.
Friday at the teen stage, there will be three bands, one from BG High School and two from
Stevenson. Saturday, there will be two bands and A to Z from 8:30 to 10.
JV asked if audio knows what is needed. Karen said yes.
Doug requested security for Friday night at the teen stage due to the equipment that needs to
be stored there overnight. Mike stated that they have one patrolman for the entire grounds on
a golf cart patrolling all night. Mike wants to see what equipment will be there. JV said it is
hard to protect the equipment with the stage close to the woods. Doug hopes to bring chains
and locks. Mike said an extra watch is no problem. JV said that the small stuff can be moved
to Public Works and we chain and lock down the big equipment.
Adam suggested that they put the stuff in a van and leave it at Public Works locked up. JV
stated that they will figure it out.
Karen stated that the BG Idol contest will be on the front page of the BG newsletter. If she
does not have enough applicants by July 15, she will cancel the contest and will find an
entertainment replacement for that spot.

Strawberry Shortcake, Dot the Dino. The Blue Dog, the purple and pink care bears, Shrek,
and an Austin Powers look alike.
Adam asked about power in craft area for the entertainment. Karen stated that on Saturday,
the entertainers bring their own boom boxes. , and Sunday's entertainment does not need
power. The craft fair entertainment just needs to know where to plug in.
Karen stated that the Countryside paper ran an ad for BG Idol contest.
Penni requested a schedule of entertainment so she can work on the publicity.

last year's information for the newsletter this year.

VIP Party: Pam Soracco—Not present.
Sharon e-mailed Jane that she will be meeting with Lynne on Monday, June 27 about the VIP
party. She anticipates a theme of"Mardi Gras" or"Broadway Rhythms".
Pam e-mailed Jane, Tom, and JV her report. She will forward the quote from Dorflers so that
Sharon can get going on the VIP party. She stated that most of the work needs to be done by
the Chamber, i.e. sending out invitations, and the letter soliciting for food donations. She
suggested that Sharon get copies of the letters from Lynne as she does not have copies. Pam
will also try to get all her files and information together regarding the party before the next
