Chairman's Report: Tom stated that JV will not be here tonight. Tom states he has no report. He said that he contacted the clean up crew from the last number of years and they have expressed an interest in doing the clean up again this year. Police: Mike Millett- Mike stated that he has nothing new to report. He continues with the scheduling and staffing and it is looking fine. Park District: Terri Ebner— No report Parade: Joe Tenerelli - Joe stated that he has sent out over 125 applications and a couple of them have come back in. Most groups procrastinate until the last minute to apply. August 15 is the deadline for the applications. If he gets anything good after that date, he will accept them. Joe stated that he has given 3 names to the Village President to choose from for Grand Marshal. Joe wants to keep the names he submitted private until the decision is made. Too often, the names leak out and people are disappointed. Rick suggested that if there are any servicemen back from Iraq or who are in the area, to nominate them for Grand Marshal. Joe was unsure of how to contact them. It was suggested that he contact veteran's organization, who should be able to help locate these people. Penni noted that there was an article in the Daily Herald asking for antique cars for the parade. Mobile Com: Roger Remblake - Roger stated that he is good to go. Everything is all set. Fun and Food: Rick Kahen - Rick stated that Outback and Connie's are on board again this year for food for the Fun and Food program. All the food is set up. Rick wanted to thank Mike and FOP 174 for their donation of$200 toward goodie bags for the Fun and Food Day. The RIC express will be here again, this year. We will have some form of the buddy basketball. RIC suggested a wheelchair clinic with the kids. Rick said that he has not figured out all of the logistics yet. We will start the wheelchair basketball exhibition at 12:30 this year. Rick is also talking about starting the carnival at a later time, at 11 instead of 10:30. He is not sure if we will change or not. Rick said that people tend to wander over to the food tent early looking for the food and wander away from the tent before the entertainment starts. Rick said that he has another sponsor for the shuttles, Aim Business Printers. Sunrise has also signed up again as a sponsor. Rick mentioned that we will have to clear the parking lot for the basketball game. He also questioned Mike about people pulling up on Lake Cook Road and Raupp, looking for handicapped parking. Rick is suggesting signage to help the situation. Mike will look into it. Tom stated that Dave could make the sign. Rick said that he will need help for shuttle drivers this year. His wife, who usually drives most of the weekend, will not be able to drive this year. He will have a sign up sheet closer to the festival. Fire Department: George Michehl -Not present Public Works: Dave HaismaBrett Robinson -Not present Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover—Not present Chamber: Sara Herman— Sara stated that she has some changes for the restaurants. Cravings closed its business last Friday. Culver's is the only other restaurant wanting to do hamburgers and hot dogs. With the closing of Cravings, Culver's would now like to do hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, and custard. Sara said that she has more information about Dominick's, who wants to serve the whole weekend, but not on Thursday. Their Panini sandwiches will be either ham or turkey. They also wish to serve a '/z slab of ribs and their Signature soup with a bread bowl. They also want to add bags of grapes. It was agreed that this might appeal to parents with kids. Sara stated that the only restaurant set in stone for Thursday is Little Italian. Buca de Bepo wishes to serve their Bruchetta, Mini Italian Sausage Sandwiches, and Mini Chocolate Cannoli. Stoney River wishes to serve Beefsteak Tomato and Buffalo Mozzarella Salad and Steak Medallions. Sara stated that there are no items of conflict with the changes. The changes and additions were approved. Tom questioned how many booths she has filled in the Food Tent for the restaurants. Sara replied that she has 15 booths plus two more have been inquiring. One is the Arboretum Grill and the other is the Windham Hotel restaurant. Sara stated that both of the sub places dropped out as did Dairy Queen this year. Tom questioned about one spot from the past year that they received from the not-for-profits when they could not fill the booth. Steve has one more not-for-profit that is interested in getting a booth but they have not yet provided their food items. Steve will follow up about the not-for-profit if they are still interested in serving at the festival. Business Fair: Sara has 18 companies signed up and a few more communicated that they have an interest. Sara has 20 spots available in the Business Fair. Sara has the Enterprise van scheduled for use at the festival but she will need a list of drivers. Corporate Sponsorship Sara Herman— Sara stated that they have raised considerable funds and are still working on it. Food Tent: Steve Shultz— No report Setup/Take down: — Tom stated that on Thursday we will set up and on Monday we will take down. Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak - Jim stated that they have 42 spaces filled. Desert Challenge: Paulette Greenberg - Paulette stated that she needs someone to help co-chair the Dessert Challenge. It will run from 1:30 —3:30 on Saturday afternoon. Jane volunteered. Carnival: Paulette Greenberg - No report in regards to the carnival. Paulette presented a new process developed by Debbi and herself, in regards to carnival tickets for the committee members, after consultation with JV and Tom. Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—Not present Karen is not present and e-mailed her report to Jane. Karen reported that the deadline for BG Idol tapes is this Friday. So far, she has received only 4 tapes. If no others come in, the contest will be cancelled. This year neither the BG Symphonic band nor the BG Singers will not be performing. Sara states that she has a sponsor with a child who would like to apply to the BG Idol contest. This sponsor wishes to give $100 and Sara thought that if the child would be performing, the sponsorship money could go to the BG Idol contest. Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe— Doug has no report. Adam is working on wireless equipment for the fireworks music. Doug said that the power is less of an issue Adam asked where the people congregate for the fireworks. Tom stated that people view them from the Rotary Green Park, from Connie's at the golf course, from the BG campus area and from Willow Stream Park. Publicity: Penni Jess - Penni stated that the drop-dead date for publication in the news letter is today, July 12. She still needs a list of the not-for-profits for the letter. Steve will get her the information tonight. Penni questioned about the times for bingo. It will be the same time as last year, 6:30-10:30. Penni asked if there will be a blood drive during the festival. The Park District will let Penni know. Penni stated that the Daily Herald ran an article about the Desert Challenge a few days ago. She did not catch the article herself. She was told it was quite small. She stated that the Herald must have greatly trimmed the article she sent to them. Glow Necklaces: Lori Hackett-Not present VIP Party: Sharan Tash-Misholum— Sharan is not present. Sara has Sharan's report. Sara stated that they would like to do a theme "Putting on the Glitz" with balloons and that type of thing. They already have 9 restaurants who have donated food for the party. Sharan still needs to follow up to see if Dorfler's will be cooking. Pam stated that they need 2-3 people to help cook. It gets hot behind the grill and it helps to rotate the people. Sara requested Pam call Sharan about specific logistics about the party. Sara stated that Sharan has gotten a symphony student from Northwestern who will sing with her boyfriend for background music. Adam stated that there is music piped in from the Beer Tent until 7 when the main stage act starts. Sara will discuss this with Sharan, who can decide about the live background music. Information Booth: Ken Lazar— Ken said he will get together with Paulette and have the tickets and food envelopes ready. Village Liaison: Bill Brimm— No report Joe Ternerelli made a motion to adjourn. Mary Moodhe seconded the motion.
