Chairman's Report: Tom stated that JV and a few others are over at the Chamber office for the Business Fair and Food Vendors' meeting tonight. Tom stated that we are 2 weeks and 2 days from the festival. He also said that Bill brought along the Village newsletter tonight. Police: Mike Millett-Not present Mike is at the Business Fair and Food Vendors meeting. Park District: Terri Ebner— Terri stated that Mike Rylko is on vacation and will decide, when he returns next week, about the enforcement of the no smoking ordinance on Park District grounds during the festival. Parade: Joe Tenerelli - Joe stated that the deadline ended last night and he now has 71 units in the parade. He will not be accepting further entries unless they are worthwhile. As stated last week, the Navy Band cancelled. In its place, he got a Dixieland band to play. He has a total of 7 bands this year, which is the most he has ever had. Mobile Com: Roger Remblake - Roger stated that he is ready to go. Fun and Food: Rick Kahen - Rick stated that he is ready to go. No report. Debbi Jess asked if there was a possibility of getting a list of Boy Scout volunteers for the Fun and Food to identify them for the wrist bands. Rick said no. Paulette was going to give Rick the wrist bands to give out at the food part of the program that day. Fire Department: George Michehl not present George is at the meetings of the Business Fair and Food Vendors. Public Works: Dave HaismaBrett Robinson Dave was not present. Brett said that Dave said that everything is ready to go. Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover— DeAnn had no report but asked if this is not the best newsletter and map we have ever had. Chamber: Sara Herman— Sara stated that everything is progressing well. She had one restaurant that cancelled out, the Melting Pot. She has already found one to fill in. Uniquely Sweet is coming, offering comparable items. The new restaurant was approved. Franella's was told no nachos as there is a conflict with another food vendor. The Business Fair is going well and everything is set. She has a waiting list. Sara said that there will be red, white and blue wrist bands for the committee members to get beer. Sara reminded everyone that committee members cannot wear their Buffalo Grove Days shirts and drink beer. The members must change out of their shirts to drink. Sara reminded everyone that if they wish to give to the Friends of Fest, the minimum donation is $25. She asked that you please make out check to the Village of Buffalo Grove. Corporate Sponsorship Sara Herman— Sara stated that they continue to raise money. Food Tent: Steve Shultz—Not present Steve is at the Food Venders meeting tonight. Setup/Take down: —Everyone/Anyone Tom reminded everyone that on Thursday night, we will need volunteers to take down the Bingo Tent and put up the Food Tent configuration. Tom stated that due to injury, he has been designated an official cart driver. Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak- Jim stated that they are moving right along. They have 71 spaces filled. He signed one more up today. He has 8 more that are 80% coming. He figures the number will push to 80 for the show. Build a Bear is signed and sealed. He had a request from someone that does personalized children's books. That is one of the crafters that he is not sure about yet. Jim still needs volunteers to drive the van. When questioned, Jim stated that he is still working on the sisters for the not for profit booth. Dessert Challenge: Paulette Greenberg -Not present Jane is reporting for Paulette. There are 4 more applicants for the Dessert Challenge, three boys and their mom. That brings the total to 7 so far. Jane redistributed the applications at the Buffalo Grove area synagogues and churches as the previous distribution was using applications with the old deadline date. The new deadline date is August 31. She also redistributed them to the Dominick's and Jewel stores. Carnival: Paulette Greenberg -Not present Debbi stated that she has tickets available tonight to sell to committee members and subsequent meetings until the festival begins. She also has the sign up sheet for the ticket booth. She reminded everyone that the ticket booth is bug free and air conditioned Entertainment: Karen Danenberg— No report Adam asked if Karen has talked to anyone from the group, Cover Gurl, who is scheduled to play at the Beer Tent. The lead singer, Jessica, is still involved in the show "Rock Star—INXS". Karen will check into it, but stated that she has a signed contract that they will be performing and they have to uphold the contract. Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe— Doug has been working with Bill Balling about using the Rotary Club sound system for the Village Club House. The Rotary Club has agreed to lend the sound system to the committee for use during the fireworks. Doug noted that with the new parking lot at St. Mary's, there is no ramp to get vehicles into the field where the main stage is located. Karen also asked if the mountain of dirt will be gone. Tom will be talking to Tom Healy, who is in charge of the grounds at the church, about access to the field. Adam stated that they will test the wireless system on Thursday to see if it covers the whole area. Publicity: Penni Jess—Not present Penni is back at school. Tom asked Debbi to pass on the committee's thanks for all her good work with Lisa on the newsletter. Glow Necklaces: Lori Hackett-Not present VIP Party: Sharan Tash-Misholum— Sara asked that those who want to volunteer for the VIP Party, to meet at 3:00 on Friday to decorate the tent. After that, everyone will go to pick up the food donations. Jane volunteered to just pick up food donations after 4. Sara stated that the Beer Tent is in need of beer servers on Sunday night from 6-12 PM. She asked for everyone to check with their family, friends and neighbors to see if anyone would be interested in volunteering. If they are, they are to call 847-541-7799 to sign up. Information Booth: Ken Lazar— No report Village Liaison: Bill Brimm— Bill stated that the Village newsletter will go out this week. He has copies of the newsletter and the new maps with him for anyone who wants a copy. Lisa put the information on the Village web site. The Daily Herald insert is done. Tom stated that for anyone who needs shirts, they are in a box in the back. Go ahead and grab one. If anyone needs a name tag, sign up and JV will get them one. Rhonda made a motion to adjourn.
