this year. They will be almost like book bags. His committee is out looking for donations so that

will be here this year. Rick asked if any committee members have anything for the goodie bags,
to let him know.
Fire Department: George Michehl -
George said that this year is the 25th anniversary of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department. He is
hoping to do more in the parade with a float this year. He said that he was not sure of the process
in choosing the Grand Marshal. His suggestion is to recognize in some way, the three people who
have acted as the full time fire chiefs in the history of the BGFD. JV stated that the committee
would be unable to recognize any active employee of the Village in that way. JV asked George to
talk to Joe about his idea for Grand Marshal, regarding the other two ex-fire chiefs. George said

Paulette announced that one of the new venues at this year's festival will be a Grilling Challenge.
Chuck will chair the subcommittee. Chuck said the committee will co-host the event with the Fire

space available. The application will state adults only, no professionals, village employees, or
elected officials. There will be a $5 entry fee to help defray the cost of the contest. There was a
suggestion from a member that the entry fee should be $10. It was decided to keep it to $5 since
this is the first year. Sara suggested Weber as the corporate sponsor of the event. Chuck hopes
for someone on the committee with connections to Weber to help with the obtaining prizes. He
hopes for a Weber grill as the first prize. Chuck said that he is open for any ideas on this new

of the Park District programs. It will be a kid afternoon of talent. The clowns and Austin Powers

was too subdued and that the Beer Tent was too loud. Arlene hopes to coordinate that better this
year. She has not yet met with Sharan. Arlene does know that the theme will be Mardi Gras.
Arlene said that she will need volunteers. Lynn Schneider will send out letters to the restaurants
for food donations. Arlene said that she would like an RSVP to the party this year. So much of
the food is left over.
Information Booth: Ken Lazar—Not present
BG Days Juniors:
Paulette stated this is another new subcommittee that has been created for kids 13 to 16. This
would be for committee members kids who would like to assist during the festival. They could
help where they are needed such as the Walk Arounds, the VIP party, the Dessert Challenge, and
the Grilling Challenge. They could also help sell glow necklaces.
JV has wished to run a food drive at the festival in previous years and the BG Days Juniors could
run that also. They will get tee-shirts if they come and work for 2 hours. Paulette stated that we
still need a chair for the subcommittee. She has someone in mind but will take any volunteers.
Anyone interested should see Paulette after the meeting.
Village Liaison: Bill Brimm—

Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members

Village Hall. The deadline is May 31. Jane also requested that everyone check the roster at the
front table to see if all their information is correct including their
e-mail addresses.

open to anyone. Paulette and JV want everyone to link up to a subcommittee to have a project.

Respectfully submitted,
Jane Primack
