The meeting was called to order at 7:13 PM.
Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg
JV stated that we are not too far away from the fun.
Most issues for the festival are closed up.
Paulette stated that the newsletter is at the printer. She reviewed it one last time and caught some
spelling errors. It will be in the residents' homes the week of August 7. Jane Olson has the disk
of the newsletter for the web site. Mary stated that she was unaware of the disk and is unsure
what will be placed on the web site.
Paulette stated that she pulled the schedule of events out of the newsletter to print up for
handouts. The printer will make up copies for the information booth.
Paulette said that the ads are at the paper. There will be two in the Daily Herald and two in the
Pioneer Press. The Daily Herald ad will run Wednesday through Friday, August 7 through the 9.
The Countryside ad will run the week after that.
Paulette said that chairpersons are being interviewed for the insert of the Daily herald.
Police: Mike Millett-
Mike thanked everyone for welcoming Tony so well at the last meeting. He was very impressed
with the committee.
Mike said that Tony is working the day of the softball game, and he will take care of the foot
traffic crossing Lake Cook Road after the game. Mike said that if someone feels more assistance
is needed, use their cell to call 911. Mike will be on duty and will take care of it.
Mike said that the Police staffing is completed and posted with overtime for full coverage.
He is working on the parking permits for the festival. Mike knows that Karen usually needs them
early for the entertainment. As Tony mentioned last meeting, the west Police lot will be used for
handicapped and police parking.
JV stated that the Vendor meeting will be August 22 at 6:00 PM at the Chamber office.
Everything else is a go.
Rick asked about handicapped parking spots in front of the Clubhouse. Mike says he has never
done anything about reserving those spots. JV stated that Dave has always taken care of that.
Dave said he just puts up a signs and that takes care of it.
Park District: Terri Ebner—Not present
JV mentioned that the $10 fee for the BG Idol is only for those contestants that make it to
compete.
Parade: Joe Tenerelli/Ken Lazar - Not present
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake - Not present
JV noted that at the last meeting, Roger reported he has the radios reserved.
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/Mo Welborn -
Rick stated that everything is set, both the food and the goodie bags.
Rick stated that since Mo has had surgery and may not be available, he is requesting help for
shopping at Sam's for the Fun and Food Program. Paulette stated we need to find out what is in
the cage before we do any shopping.
Rick said that he has been informed by the Park District that Miracle Field will not be ready in
time for the Buddy Softball game. He has changed the site to Busch Grove Park, at 950
McHenry Road, next to the golf dome and the splash park. He will use the west softball field.
Rick said that there is plenty of parking at the site. Dave said that he heard that the Park District
will use the parking lot to stock pile materials for field work, such as gravel etc. Rick will check
into it.
Next meeting, Rick will have a sheet to sign up to be a buddy for the game. Sharon asked how
old someone needs to be a buddy. Rick said 14 to 15 years old.
Rick said that for the courtesy shuttle, he may have it covered on Sunday afternoon during the
game. Time for the game will be the same at the new field.
When questioned by JV, Rick said that Monday is all the same, no changes.
Fire Department: George Michehl - Not present
Public Works: Dave Haisma/Brett Robinson -
Dave said that everything is pretty well set, with some contracts received and waiting for other
contracts to come in.
JV stated that if anyone on the committee needs a sign, Dave's department will take care of it.
Just give him the size and material you want. Dave said that some of the signs are already made.
They don't get rid of them each year.
Jim asked if they still have the magnetic sign for the Arts and Crafts shuttle van. Dave will check
into it.
Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover—Not present
Chamber/Corporate Sponsorship: Sara Herman/Sharon Feld—
Sara stated that Corporate Sponsorship is progressing.
Sara stated that 10 sponsors from last year did not comet back. They have a number of new
sponsors this year. They are still working on it.
For the Business Fair, 18 booths have been taken. They have 2 more companies that want double
booths. Paulette said that she may have someone who wants a booth at the Business Fair.
Sharon stated that they have 17 restaurants.
She is trying to get Jillie's to serve at the Teen Stage area.
They have left a number of messages at Fluky's about serving at the Teen Stage but have received
no response.
Food Tent: Steve Schultz/Sandi Carothers -
Steve stated that he talked to the Boy Scouts. They will be charging $1.50 for the cans of soda.
Their price is based on what others are charging for beverages in the Food Tent. Na'Amat Aviva
Club is charging $2.00 for water. Crohns and Colitis is charging $3.50 for lemonade.
In regards to the ice issue, Adam got a price on Jefferson ice with the ice chest.
It works out to the same price as to what the boy scouts charge for ice.
Steve has 9 not-for-profits in the Food Tent.
Setup/Take down:
Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak -
Jim stated things are starting to get busy with calls and emails. Other than that, he has no report.
Dessert Challenge: Jane Primack/Joan Pawlak -
Jane said that she is still working on the judges.
She has two applications submitted for the Adult division. The Village Hall front desk reported
that they were making extra copies of the applications as they were disappearing, but there have
been no further submissions.
There was an article in the Countryside paper last week about the BBQ Showdown. They added
on some information at the end about the Dessert Challenge so Jane hopes that the applications
will start coming due to that article.
Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Ken Carothers
Chuck stated that he has received no applications yet.
The article was in the Countryside paper last week and there will be a few ads coming out in the
next few weeks.
He is close to having a full group of judges and thanks the Chamber for helping with that.
Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Jess - Not present
Paulette had Debra's report. Debra reported that the presale tickets will be dropped off by the
first week of August at Village Hall.
Next week, she will have the sign up sheets for the carnival ticket booth. Paulette reminded
everyone that 90% of the money for the festival comes from the carnival. Everyone is expected
to work one shift in the ticket booth. You have to be at least 16 years of age to work in the
booth.
One committee member must be in the booth at all times.
Paulette stated that they are still working on the truck parking problem.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—Not present
Paulette reported for Karen that all of the contracts have come in.
All the entertainment is booked.
Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe—
Doug stated that they have a revised quote for the back line, which is $1,275. Doug stated that
he thought Karen might be happier with that quote.
Doug stated that he understands that Bill is the contact for the Rotary Club. He needs someone
at the Rotary Club to approve the use their sound equipment again this year for the fireworks. JV
suggested Doug send an email to Bill.
Doug asked Sara if she could get the name of a contact at the Clubhouse, since it under new
management. He needs to plug into the kitchen there for the sound system for the fireworks.
Adam said that he had a contact and would take care of it.
Doug asked Dave when they will be allowed to tape down the power cable across the golf course
path. Dave will check.
Adam comments that last year, on Friday night at the Teen stage, they used the gator to transport
equipment. Adam asked for a pickup truck as some of the equipment was really heavy. JV
suggested a van with no seats. Adam said that might work. JV stated that he will take the seats
out of his van for the transport.
Jim said that we have the arts and crafts van, also. They could remove or fold down the seats in
that van.
Publicity: Penni Jess - Not present

Glow Necklaces: Lori Hackett- Not present
VIP Party: Sharan Tash/Arlene Kozemzak—
Arlene stated that we are having one.
Arlene stated that she is contacting everyone on the list who donated food last year. They have
no new people donating food thus far this year.
She contacted Costco who is willing to donate but needs a letter. Paulette stated that we can take
care of that.
Arlene called a contact person for Culligan to see if they are interested in replacing Hinkley and
Schmidt in the water booth. At this time, they will be donating water for the VIP Party only.
To clarify some confusion about the party, Arlene stated that the VIP party is at 6:00 PM on
Friday.
Sara stated that traditionally, they have asked for an RSVP but it has not been well adhered to.
Information Booth: Ken Lazar—Not present
JV said that they have ordered the information booth so there will be one.
JV also said that we are set for the 2-pager handout for the information booth.
BG Juniors:
Rhonda stated that she met with Paulette before the meeting and they came up with some ideas
for the Juniors.
She reported that a letter went out this week from the village to the Fire, Police, and Village
employees, asking if their kids would like to be involved in this committee. The letter mentioned
that kids would get service hours if needed for school or religious programs.

Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members
Jane stated that the August 15 meeting will be at the Police Department due to a conflict with our
usual meeting place.
Pam said that she will help to get water at the festival as she use to work for Culligan.
Paulette also asked if anyone needs T-shirts or name tags, to sign up tonight.
Rhonda made a motion to adjourn. Jane seconded the motion.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:55.
