Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg The new committee members introduced themselves. Paulette stated that the official photo album for BG Days 2006 is completed. She has it if any committee members wish to review it. Paulette thanked Hal and Jim for their hard work. Paulette reminded everyone that there is a new system for reimbursement if committee members buy anything for their sub committees. She must fill out a blue sheet, and submit it for reimbursement to Village Hall. JV suggested that if anyone wants to buy anything, to check with Paulette before buying it to assure reimbursement for the items. Paulette stated that she has ordered 2 ATM machines for the festival. We are guaranteed one machine. The company will tell us later if we will get the second machine. Paulette stated that we used the same company last year and we got 50 cents for every transaction. We did well last year with this arrangement. If we get the two requested machines, one will be on the festival side, the other on the carnival side. Paulette stated that we will most probably get it the second machine. Police: Mike Millett- Mike has no report. Park District: Terri Ebner— Teri was unable to be present. Kim Cashmore is representing the Park District tonight. Kim stated that the Park District would like to do BG Idol on the Main stage this year but would be happy with any arrangement that can be made. Parade: Joe Tenerelli/Ken Lazar - Joe is not present. Paulette stated that everything has to be in to Laurie by July 5rh for the newsletter. Joe has to pick a Grand Marshall by that time and needs to start getting nominations for the position. Paulette suggested that we get it out on the web site and to the newspapers, to start getting in nominations. Sharon said that the Chamber wanted to know if there will be a theme for the parade this year. Paulette said no, because of the Fire Department theme last year and the 50rh anniversary celebration theme next year. Mobile Com: Roger Remblake - Roger is not present. Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/Mo Welborn - Rick stated that on Monday, Fun and Food will sponsor the Arts for Life program. It is a group of developmentally challenged people who work in the arts. He wants to set them up in the Food Tent. They will bring their art for display and for selling. They will also have an interactive exhibit for the patrons. Rick stated that if anyone wanted to check out the group, their web site is www.artsoflife.org. It is a not-for-profit organization. Steve stated that the Food Tent is noisy on Monday. He suggested the Beer Tent will be empty and that might work better. Rick prefers the Food Tent. It will be too hard to get wheelchairs to the Beer Tent. There will be more people in the Food Tent for more exposure. Rick stated that it would run from 11-4. Jim stated that there would be no conflict with the Arts and Crafts show. Rick wants to firm up things before presenting the papers. DeAnn stated to that she would have to run it by Mr. Brimm for approval. Ron made a motion to allow the Arts for Life program to show their artwork. JV seconded the motion. The motion was carried unanimously. Fire Department: George Michehl - George is not present. Public Works: Dave Haisma/Brett Robinson - Dave is not present Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover— DeAnn welcomed everyone back this year. She is happy to be back as our liaison. She will be the liaison for the next couple of years. She said that next year will be extra special for everyone, as Buffalo Grove Celebrates their 50'h anniversary. She is looking forward to the September 2007 festival. JV welcomed DeAnn back. Chamber/Corporate Sponsorship: Scott Fishkin/Sharon Feld— Sharon stated that they have nothing yet. April V, they send out their first corporate sponsorship letters. JV asked about sending letters in the first mailing to Stoney River and Buca's. He said that they have been very good to the committee, helping out in the past and JV wanted to be sure that they had a first chance to get in this year. Sharon stated that she thought that they were in the first mailing, but would check. Karen asked about a corporate sponsorship for the Main Stage for Saturday. She is not asking for the entire amount for the entertainment, but $10,000 would help with the cost of getting a good group. The sponsor would get top billing as sponsor and the big balloon as main sponsor. Sharon asked about sponsorship for all three nights. Karen said she would always take sponsorship for each night, but wants to be realistic and get the sponsorship for that one night. Food Tent: Steve Schultz/Sandi Carothers - Steve stated that he will send out letters to the not-for-profits members from last years in the next few weeks. When questioned by Paulette, he said that he does not know if the Knights of Columbus will have the basketball toss. They were not there last year. Paulette is looking for that spot for the race cars. Setup/Take down: Steve Antman— Steve has volunteered to be chair for this sub committee. Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak - Jim stated that they have sent out 90 applications to participants from the last couple of years. He has already gotten some hits on the web site. Dessert Challenge: Jane Primack/Joan Pawlak - Jane has no report. Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Ken Carothers Chuck has no report. Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Jess - Debra has heard for Teri Ebner that the carnival can use the small parking lot east of the carnival as long as they lay the appropriate wood to protect the driveway surface. Debra also said that late May, she will have the diagram of the layout for the carnival rides. She will ask the Park District to approve the layout so there will be no last minute changes. Entertainment: Karen Danenberg— Karen has no report. Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe— Doug has no report. Publicity: Lori Hackett/Dan Olbur - Paulette stated that Lori will redo the newsletter this year as we have 16 pages this year. Photography: Hal Norman/Jim Pawlak - Jim stated they will be there...everywhere. Glow Necklaces: Lori Hackett- Lori is not present. VIP Party: Sara Ciolli/Arlene Kozemzak— Arlene and Sara are not present. Arlene e-mailed Jane to say she has no report. Information Booth: Ken Lazar— Ken is not present JV stated that the Information Booth will be up and running. BG Juniors: Rhonda has no report. Village Liaison: Bill Brimm— JV saw Bill Brimm, who said hello to everyone. Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members Debra asked about sweatshirts this year. She will get prices for the next meeting. Another consideration may be provide blue denim shirts to put over the t-shirt if it is only slightly cold. JV stated that if you do not have a sweatshirt, t-shirts, or the tie dye shirt, there will be a sign up sheet the next few weeks. Each member gets 2 teal shirts and one tie dye shirt for the Monday Fun and Food program. For anyone needing name tags, there will be a sign up sheet for that also. Ron asked about cell phones for festival and buses. JV stated that we may not need 10 phones this year. JV and Ron will look into it. Ron made a motion to adjourn. Steve seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 7:33.
