Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg
JV stated that he, Paulette, Sarah, and Elliot taped a video regarding BG Days on Monday. It will
be shown before the festival, airing in August.
JV stated that he had questions for the chairs of the Grilling and Dessert contests and the VIP
people. JV was informed that last year's 30x30 tent was a tight fit so will get a 30x45 tent this
year. Discussion occurred as to the placement of the tent. This will be determined later when the
trees will be taken into consideration. The new size of the tent was approved by all chairs.
Paulette stated that she has ordered the ice trailer with 175 bags. If we need more, they can
deliver. Our price per bag is $3.50 and we will sell for $4.00 per bag. Last year, we sold 165
bags.
Paulette stated that she got in touch with the owner of Sanroman Cleaning Co. He is happy to
accommodate us with extra hours this year, with a start time of 12:00 on Saturday and Sunday.
Police: Mike Millett-
Mike stated that he has no report. He said that things are status quo. He is looking at his
scheduling options and is voicing his opinions to his boss about man power issues.
Mike stated that he knew that Karen had issues about the Teen stage. So did Mike.
The Police department does not want the Teen Stage. The proximity of it to the carnival and the
limited manpower make it very difficult. Mike has already contacted the gang police unit from
AH, Wheeling, and Palatine. Mike stated that when we did have the Teen Stage with teen bands,
there were fewer problems. The problems occur when the DJ comes in. JV suggested that we
work up something that will not promote the gang involvement.
Park District: Terri Ebner—
Teri wants to remind everyone that there is no smoking allowed on Park District property. JV
stated that there is actually no smoking allowed in the Village. All she asks is that if any
committee member sees someone smoking, to remind them that no smoking is allowed on Park
District land. Sandi Theabault, from Astro Amusement, was present and asked where her
workers would be allowed to smoke. She was told beyond the carnival on Raupp. She is worried
about what the neighbors may think. JV stated that there is no smoking allowed on St. Mary's
field also.
Teri stated that BG Idol is working out well.
The parking lot is ready for use this year. Sandi stated that they would be using wood blocks
when parking the trucks.
Parade: Joe Tenerelli/Ken Lazar -
Joe stated that he has 3 applications for Grand Marshal. Joe will talk to them first to see if they
want to be the Grand Marshall. Joe stated that there are only two requirements for someone to
qualify to be Grand Marshal. They must live in the village and must be engaged on volunteerism.
If someone wants to nominate anyone, they need to write a short resume and get it to Joe. His
committee picks three names and turns them over to the Village Board to make a final decision.
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake -
Roger was not present.
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/Mo Welborn -
Rick stated that he has some food pledged for buddy baseball. Lou Malinati's will be providing
food for all the players. They are still working on the miracle field. He hopes it will be done by
the game this year. Rick said that the parking will be a big problem for the game. We will need
busses for transportation to the field. It was noted that there is a big parking lot across the street
from the miracle field for the other softball field.
Rick has prepared the press release for the Arts of Life program. They will at the Fun and Food
program Monday.
Fire Department: George Michehl -
George was not present.

Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover—
DeAnn was not present.
Chamber/Corporate Sponsorship: Sara Herman/Sharon Feld—

The Chamber has 14 restaurants signed up. She has the food items but will leave that for the
Chamber next month.
In regards to corporate sponsorship, they continue with fund raising with pledges and money
coming in. They have 14 sponsors signed up so far. There are still sponsorships available. If
anyone gives $25, they will be listed as a Friend of the Festival.
Food Tent: Steve Schultz/Sandi Carothers -
Steve was not present.
Setup/Take down: Steve Antman—
Steve was not present.
Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak -

Dessert Challenge: Jane Primack/Joan Pawlak -
Jane stated that she and Paulette met with the marketing manager of Whole Foods about the
cooking demonstration. They have a different focus that does not match the contest. Whole
Foods e-mailed her with a declination of appearing at the Dessert Challenge for a cooking
demonstration this year. She has since talked to Trader Joe's who appear interested except for
limited availability over the Labor Day weekend. She has her sponsor, Chocolate Marvels, again
this year.
Jane has sent out letters for judges for the contest. She will be sending out letters for prize
donations later this month.
Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Ken Carothers
Chuck stated that Dorfler's will be a co-sponsor for the event. Anyone who is doing burgers will
give free meat from them. They will sell other meats for cost to the participants. Weber is also a
sponsor for the event and is donating grills and gift certificates, totaling $400. Chuck has been
talking to a company that sells buffalo meat from Minnesota. They are very interested in doing a
cooking demonstration for the event. Sunset Foods is the area supplier for their buffalo meat.
Chuck asked Jane to consider Sunset Food for a cooking demonstration, due to the probability of
the company providing a concurrent demonstration. Jane will consider that if Trader Joe's does
not work out.
Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Jess -
Debra stated that she has no report. She said that she will get the plan of where the rides will be
placed next month. She will require everyone to sign off on the plan so there is no confusion
about placement of the rides.
Debra also stated that she would like lights over the porta potties at the carnival, by the creek.
Dave will see what he can do.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—
Karen stated that most of headline entertainment is booked. High Infidelity, who plays Boston,
Journey and Stix songs are booked for Friday, August 31 for 9:00 to 10:30.
Karen has also gotten the youngest Beatle band impersonators in the world for Friday night,
which is called Stockwood. Saturday night Karen had booked Chuck Negron formerly of Three
Dog Night, with a warm up band called Ode Tope Imi, which is a Caribbean sound band. Sunday
night Karen has booked a band called ABBA Salute.
Bennie the Bull and Staley the bear will be there as walk arounds.
Also, for the Walk A Rounds, there will be no Spiderman this year. Karen will have Shrek, Dora,
the Purple Care Bear, Austin Powers, and Strawberry Shortcake.
Karen stated she needs 8 rooms for 2 nights for the bands.
Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe—
Doug stated that they are working on the contracts for the stage and the sound.
Adam stated that Andy's Music will provide the back line for the Main Stage.
Publicity: Lori Hackett/Dan Olbur-
Lori stated that they got together with the graphic designer to plan the newsletter. They will need
to do bios on various areas in the festival. The theme of the newsletter will be family, fun and
food. Lori stated that the deadline date is June 26 for any articles to be printed in the newsletter.
Dan stated that the BG web site will have a lot of information on the festival. Leisa is helping out
with the web site information. Dan stated that Tracy Butler, weather person on channel 7 AM
broadcast, will talk about the festival on a newscast closer to the festival.
Nadia at the Daily Herald will help in getting articles in the paper starting near the end of the
month.
Photography: Hal Norman/Jim Pawlak -
Jim stated that they will be there ready to go.
Glow Necklaces: Lori Hackett-
Lori has no report. Paulette asked about a clear necklace that sparkled all night long. Members
stated that that necklace cost more to purchase.
VIP Party: Sharan Tash/Arlene Kozemzak—
Arlene is happy with a bigger tent. The theme has not been picked. Since they have so much left
over from last year's Mardi Gras, they could make it a Tiki Lounge or Hawaiian theme. Arlene
questioned and was told that the Chamber is responsible for sending out letters to the previous
year's donors of food. Arlene stated that we buy 300 serving from Dorfler's of meat and potato.
We will need people to grill. Pam's husband has always helped out. Arlene will check with Pam
about availability. Arlene also stated that committee members came too early last year. Arlene
stated that committee members must come later in the evening for a meal.
