The meeting was called to order at 7:09 PM.
Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg
JV stated we are T minus 5 weeks to the festival.
JV stated that tonight is the last night to sign up for t-shirts, the Monday tie dye t-shirts, and name
tags.
JV asked Dave if he has all the contracts in. Dave said yes. Paulette has all her contracts, as does
the sound and entertainment.
Paulette said that she has the official newsletter with her that will be going to the printer next
week. It must go back to the graphic designer on Friday for final corrections. This is to ensure
that the newsletter is in the mailboxes the week of August 13. Paulette asked that everyone help
proofread the newsletter for errors after the meeting.
JV stated that if anyone wants to become a Friend of the Fest, they could donate $25 or more.
The check would go to the Chamber. Your name goes up on the Big Board of sponsors.
Police: Mike Millett-
Mike stated that the staffing is good. He has been able to provide more manpower and lessen
overtime with the schedule. He says that there are a number of new officers who can work the
lights. It will be safer for everyone all around.
Tim Gretz will be at the festival with Reaper the dog for demos. Everything is good to go for
that.
Sgt. Scott Kristiansen felt that there will be no problems for parking for the Buddy Baseball.
Parking is allowed along Aptikisic Road.
JV asked if Lake Cook will be completely one lane all the way through the festival area.
Bill will ask if the road construction crew will pull the barricades to create more lanes when we
get closer to the event.
Doug asked about the drawing he sent to Mike of the route for the performers to get to the Teen
Stage. Mike will have people ready to help out to direct and stop traffic if needed to allow the
performers access to the Teen Stage area. He stated that it is much easier if the performers come
from the west and asked if they could be given directions to do so.
Park District: Terri Ebner—
Teri stated that Jillie's does not want to sell food at the Teen Stage. She said that the Park
District has not finalized the carnival placement yet; they still have some questions. Debra will
address their concerns.
Parade: Joe Tenerelli/Ken Lazar -
Joe was not present.
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake -
Roger stated that he will rope off staffing for Friday and Saturday nights. He will have 3 staff
members present instead of the usual 2 people. He said that the phones and radios are ordered.
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/Mo Welborn -
Rick stated that they are ready for Monday with the food all set. The food and everything else is
set for the Buddy Baseball game on Sunday. Rick said that the Arts of Life group has pulled out.
He said that the NWRSA will loan us a bus for transportation to and from the Buddy Baseball
game. When asked, Rick stated that the NWESA bus route will include stops at the Golf Dome
and the skate park then over to the Miracle Park.
Fire Department: George Michehl -
George stated that the Fireworks contract from Melrose Pyrotechnics is signed. The Fire
Department will be at the festival with public education displays. He said that he is working on
the grilling Challenge with Chuck. He was told by JV that August 14 will be the meeting for the
vendors, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at the Chamber office. The Fire Department will need to be
present.
Public Works: Dave Haisma/Brett Robinson -
Dave stated that everything is on schedule. He still has some questions about the carnival rides.
He needs to get the measurements for one ride, Mystery Machine.
Dave asked when the deadline for sponsors is so they can start working on the signage.
Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover—
DeAnn has no report.
Chamber/Corporate Sponsorship: Scott Fishkin/Sharon Feld—
Sharon stated that they continue to raise money for corporate sponsorship. The 20 Business Fair
booths are taken. The restaurant, Stoney River is out due to staffing difficulties. Brothers Ribs is
in. They have 16 restaurants for the weekend and 4 for Thursday night.
Food Tent: Steve Schultz/Sandi Carothers -
Steve has no report.
Setup/Take down: Steve Antman—
Steve stated that there still will be set up and take down. He said that he wants the Hoovers up
and running.
Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak -
Jim stated that he has 44 crafters signed up and is hoping for 10 to 20 more.
He stated that any committee member that wants to drive the van for the weekend, on Saturday,
Sunday and Monday, to let him know. He will need a copy of their driver's license front and
back. It will require 1 to 2 hour shifts for the drivers.
Dessert Challenge: Jane Primack/Joan Pawlak -
Jane stated that she has only 4 applications for the contest. She still needs one more judge.
She stopped by Trader Joe's of Arlington Heights to drop off applications for the contest.
No more donations of prizes have been received so she will be buying a few prizes for the contest.
Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Ken Carothers
Chuck stated that he is low on applications, but has some neighbors who plan on entering.
He will be opening the contest to non residents.
Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Jess -
Debra stated that the tickets for the advanced sales will be dropped of next week in the morning
at Village Hall. The pre sale tickets for will be a sheet of 20 for $24 for the public. She will have
sign up sheets for the carnival booth tickets sales closer to the festival. She does not want to do it
too soon as people forget their schedule. The posters will be delivered to Village Hall next
Monday. She is happy with this timing as we will have them before the Chamber meeting the first
Tuesday of August and they can be distributed there.
Discussion occurred between Debra and Teri regarding the bouncy ride and its placement at the
carnival.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—
Karen stated that everything is completed. She read a letter she received from a resident in
regards to the Beer Tent entertainment.
Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe—
Doug stated that they are on schedule. They will begin calling the bands in August to determine
their specific needs.
Publicity: Lori Hackett/Dan Olbur
Dan asked that as many people as possible stick around and help edit the newsletter.
They still need pictures of the Beer Tent entertainment for the newsletter.

Lori has no report.
VIP Party: Sara Ciolli/Arlene Kozemzak—
Arlene stated that nothing has changed and that everything is moving along. Arlene stated that
she is waiting for a list of food donations from Lynne. She understands that 7 businesses plus
Dorfler's are donating food so far.
Information Booth: Ken Lazar—
Ken was not present.
BG Juniors: Rhonda Norman -
Paulette stated that she and Rhonda came up with a permission slip for those Juniors participating
in the program. The information includes emergency numbers. The slip also includes a statement
that the child understands they are responsible for shifts of 45 to 60 minutes and will show up
smiling and ready to work. T
Village Liaison: Bill Brimm—
Bill had no report.
