Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg Paulette stated that on April 27, there is another birthday event at the Public Works campus from 11:00 to 4:00. They will have tents set up. All committees and commissions will have a table. Paulette needs volunteers to staff the table. We will have a continuous loop of the pictures from last year's festival. We will have a sign up for the BG Juniors. We also will also be selling Buffalo Bobby, the stuffed toy buffalo, for $6. Paulette stated that she has already ordered a second batch. Mo offered to run the volunteer list and coordinate the event for the committee. Paulette stated that the ATM guy bought more machines so we will get 2 machines, one on the carnival side and one near the information booth. We also will get an increase for each transaction this year. Police: Mike Millett- Mike was not present. Park District: Terri Ebner— Teri stated that Kim Cashmore, handed her information about Sedways, wondering if the committee might have use of them during the festival. It was decided that it would not be safe for the residents. Lindsay Grandt& Aly Stanczak are working with Karen Dannenberg again on BG Idol. Due to the theme of BG Days 2008, the event will be titled, "Buffalo Grove Idol: Fifties Flashback," and all song selections will be from the 1950's. The show will be held in the afternoon on Saturday, August 30th. Auditions for area residents age 9 and up will be held at the Alcott Center on August 6th. She also offered to pay for a professional emcee! She has a guy who can dress up in 50's-gear and who apparently does this kind of thing a lot. Teri requested that the committee place the Park District's events in the schedule in the newsletter that is sent out to residents and the programs handed out to residents at the festival. This would include Saturday, the dog show, disc golf and the BG Idol contest, On Sunday, would be the Buffalo Gove Stampede. Paulette stated that would be fine but the due date for the newsletter for the Park District to get their information in is June 30. Teri stated that the Park District wanted to thank Karen for all the work she did to move the BG Idol contest to Saturday. Parade: Joe Tenerelli/Ken Lazar - Paulette stated that if anyone has ideas for the parade marshal, please submit them to her. Joe will not be involved in the process of choosing the grand marshal this year, per his choice. Karen suggested that we have a contest for the best 50 year old in the village. It was decided that that would be too hard to judge and make a choice. Mobile Com: Roger Remblake— We will have two quotes for radio rentals this year. A village resident has approached the village requesting to provide proposals for radio rental for any event. In addition, we will receive a quote from our original vendor Lakeland Communications. I will request a vote on one of the two vendors at the April meeting. He said that they will be at the open house on April 27rh Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/Mo Welborn - Rick stated that they will have the buddy baseball game on Saturday morning at 11:00 this year. It will be better for attendance and will avoid any problems with the heat. Fire Department: George Michehl - He said that the new fire chief will be a judge for the Grilling challenge. He stated that there will be changes with the companies providing fireworks this year. Refer to DeAnn Glover, Trustee report. Public Works: Dave Haisma/Brett Robinson - Dave was not present. Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover— DeAnn stated that the fireworks display has been sent out for bids this year. There will be a new company, Johnny Rocket, providing the 4rh of July display and the previous company, Melrose, providing the Labor Day weekend display. The Board will compare the two and make a decision afterward as to who will get the contract next year. Melrose has been doing both of the Buffalo Grove displays for years. Chamber/Corporate Sponsorship: Scott Fishkin/Sharon Feld— Scott said that there is no report. They are ready to go. Food Tent: Steve Schultz/Sandi Carothers - Steve was not present. Setup/Take down: Steve Antman— Steve Antman stated that Steve Schultz, chairperson of the Food Tent, has stated that he has a book of how to do the set up for the tent but has not shared it with Steve Antman yet. JV will look into it. Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak - Jim has no report. Dessert Challenge: Jane Primack/Joan Pawlak - Paulette stated that there will not be a pie eating contest this year. It is too messy, without sufficient wash facilities available to the contestants afterward. Jane stated that she will be making some changes in the contest for this year, cutting back on some categories and getting rid of the Teen section. Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Ken Carothers Chuck stated that he is looking into inviting food critics from the TV or radio stations to judge. He will have to see who will show up. Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Jess - George stated that as soon as Debra and Penni get the layout for the carnival, he needs to see it. Debra has no report. Entertainment: Karen Danenberg— Karen stated that Friday night, she will be getting a 50's band. Saturday will be the BG Idol. It will also be the day of the official birthday celebration. They will be bringing the trustees, village officials, fire and police representatives on the Main Stage that night. Sunday, she has a contract with American English to perform before the fireworks. Karen announced that there will be no teen stage this year. Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe— Doug has no report. Adam stated that everything is the same. He told Karen that he will need the riders for the bands as soon as she gets them to know what their need will be. Publicity: Lori Hackett/Dan Olbur Lori stated that they will go shiny or glossy for the newsletter this year. Photography: Hal Norman/Jim Pawlak - Hal and Jim have no report. Glow Necklaces: Lori Hackett- Lori has no report. VIP Party: Sara Ciolli/Arlene Kozemzak— Arlene was not present but e-mailed her no report to Jane. Information Booth: Ken Lazar— JV asked for a volunteer for this subcommittee as Ken does not want to head it again this year. Mo volunteered to be chairperson. BG Juniors: Rhonda Norman - Rhonda has no report. Village Liaison: Bill Brimm— Bill was not present. JV stated he had no report. Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members Lori asked if any establishment or business has been in Buffalo Grove for the 50 years. The answer was no. Scott asked that if Raceline is not coming, could they could have 2 more tents for the Business Fair. Paulette will check to see Raceline"s status JV stated that the Food Tent will be set up the same way as last year. Paulette stated that we will be selling Buffalo Bobby at the April 27rh party and at the car show/sock hop in June. Jim made a motion to adjourn. Rhonda seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00.
