Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg JV stated that we start with the two meetings per month this month, leading up to the four meetings per month in August. Paulette stated that the Illinois Treasurer's office wants to come back with the Cash and Dash program. Paulette stated that we will find them space at the festival. The ATM machine contract has been signed. We will get two machines on one trailer. We will put them in the same area as last year. Raceline Motors has cancelled all community events this summer. There is another company that Paulette is talking to about coming to the festival. Paulette stated that there is a strong possibility the time capsule will be buried before BG Days but the dedication of the site will still be happening on Monday, approximately 2 PM. Mo will not be present. She gave her report to Paulette. The float rental cost is $700. The idea has been dropped. Police: Mike Millett- Mike stated that they are on schedule with the manpower. Other than that, Mike has no report. Park District: Terri Ebner— Teri was not present. She e-mailed her no report to Jane. Parade: Joe Tenerelli/Ken Lazar - Joe was not present but gave his report to Paulette. Joe has the parade applications done and it will be up on the Village web site this week. The parade theme is "Happy Birthday Buffalo Grove". Mobile Com: Roger Remblake - Roger stated that he is proposing to go with a new radio vendor. The owner lives within the village, and is eager to get the business and work with the Village. Roger stated that they already tried the radios out. The worked well and exceeded their expectations. It will cost a little more, due to the fact they offer covert earpieces. Last year, we paid $800. This year, they will cost $900 for the newer equipment. Pam made a motion to accept the proposal. Rhonda seconded the motion. The motion was carried. Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/1VIo Welborn - Rick stated that they are getting the food in order. Weiner take is all signed on. Kaleidoscoops will be serving the Buddy Baseball participants after the game. Lou Malinati's will be serving lunch. Buddy Baseball will be on Saturday, probably at 11:00. Fire Department: George Michehl - George was not present. Public Works: Dave Haisma/Brett Robinson - Dave was not present. Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover— DeAnn was not present. She e-mailed her no report to Jane. Chamber/Corporate Sponsorship: Scott Fishkin/Sharon Feld— Sharon stated that they are doing great and have raised substantial funds. Sharon stated that they have a number of new corporate sponsors. The Food Tent is all set. All of the booths are booked. There are a few minor changes of food. JV stated that he had reviewed the changes and did not see a problem with them, so approved the changes. Restaurants confirmed to serve at the festival are as follows: Brothers Ribs Buca di Beppo Cold Stone Creamery Continental Restaurant Culver's Dominick's Dorfler's GrillWorks at eSkape Kaleidoscoops Ice Cream and More Lou Malnati's Pizzaria The Melting Pot Nino's Pizzeria Penguino's Pizza Stoney River Legendary Steaks TGI Friday's Village Bar and Grill Yen Yen Restaurant Thursday Jillie's Little Italian Pizza The Business Fair has one booth left. Food Tent: Steve Schultz/Sandi Carothers - Steve was not present. He e-mailed his report to Jane. All the not-for-profits vendors have contacted Steve and are in again for this year's event. The final applications were mailed a couple of weeks ago and three have responded so far. They are: Na'Amat: Good Humor ice cream, bottled water, candy Knights of Columbus: Basketball Toss; Rotary Club: Bingo on Thursday, Pancake Breakfast on Sunday Steve expects the rest to respond by the end of this week. Setup/Take down: Steve Antman— Steve was not present. He e-mailed his no report to Jane. Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak - Jim stated that the number of signed vendors has doubled from last month's at 32 vendors. They have a lot of new vendors and a lot of returning people. Dessert Challenge: Jane Primack/Joan Pawlak - Jane stated that she met with Marie from Chocolate Marvels regarding her concerns. She will be changing the top award from a plaque to an inscribed coffee mug. There have been no new applications received since last month. Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Ken Carothers Chuck said that he has received prizes, including t-shirts from the Chicago Wolves, and tickets for a soccer game. Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Jess - Debra stated that one of the rides, the Freakout, needs a weight on it. The carnival reports that they use water for the weight. JV stated that Debra will have to talk to the Park District about that. They will need to know how much water is going to be used. Penni stated that we will be getting one ticket booth that will hold 4 to5 people. It will be a free standing booth. Roger asked about the location of the booth as they usually have the security camera mounted on the flag pole. Penni stated it should be in the same location. Entertainment: Karen Danenberg— Karen stated that she has 3acts left to book. Everything else is done. The Main Stage has been booked. Sunday afternoon, there will be a block party birthday party. There will be a DJ with 50's type of activities. She has 2 dance groups at the Arts and Craft Fair on Monday. The Wheeling Jazz band will be at the Rotary Village Green on Sunday night before the fireworks. We will be able to tap into their PA for the fireworks music. The late night Beer Tent is booked. Karen has booked two new bands for the Beer Tent, Visual Cue and Blood on the Tracks. There will be a big variety of entertainment at the Beer Tent, including Whitey O'Day, a country singer and Salt and Silver who will be performing more 50's music. Bennie the Bull and Staley Bear will be there, as will Elvis on stilts. Karen stated that because Friday night is 50's night, she will need the people selling the glow necklace to be dressed in 50's style including poodle skirts. Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe— Doug stated that they are waiting for the final contract from Diversified Audio. Doug said that they can get more wireless equipment from RentCom if they need it. He said that they want more directional antennas. They are getting the backline from Andy's Music. They are waiting for the final contract from them. Publicity: Lori Hackett/Dan Olbur Lori stated that they are doing well. They are done with the rough draft and are working on the corrections. When questioned by JV, she said that it will be in the same format with more pictures. When questioned, Lori stated that it is too soon for getting information for the papers. Information Booth: Ken Lazar— Ken was not present. Iceman/Cell Phones: Ron Jess - Ron asked if ice is needed on Thursday night. Paulette confirmed that it was. Ron stated that he ordered 175 bags of ice, plus the cost of dropping off and picking up the trailer for the same price as last year. Paulette stated that we get the ice cost us $3.50 a bag and we sell it for $4.00. Ron asked if we need telephones. Roger stated that the bus drivers all have radios. Paulette and JV decided that we don't need phones this year. If kids want to call their parents, they can use Paulette's and JV's cell phone BG Juniors: Rhonda Norman - Rhonda stated that she has no report. She will not be present for the next meeting. In July, she will start with the permission slips and parent contracts. Village Liaison: Bill Brimm— Bill was not present. Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members Paulette stated that next Saturday is the Car Show, which she is in charge of She will need help with selling raffle tickets, both during the day for one set of prizes and later in the evening for another set of prizes. She will also need help with the clean up at night after the sock hop. The car show is from 8:00 to 3:00 and the sock hop will be from 7:00 to 10:00. From 4:00 to 6:00 will be their turn around time. Anyone with nothing to do is invited to help during the day, the evening and especially at the clean up after the event. BG Days will have an unmanned booth that will have applications for the Dessert Challenge and Barbecue Challenge. The Village will also be selling the Buffalo Bobbies and the key chains. Costumes for the day are optional. JV reminded everyone that there are 7 more meetings before festival time. Jim made a motion to adjourn. Chuck seconded the motion.
