Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg JV introduced Bob Boxer and stated that he is a sound guy with ESPN. Paulette stated that she has a not-for-profit vendor that wants to sell Italian ice. Paulette will run it past Steve. A question has come up on how much the not-for-profits actually donate to the charity. Discussion occurred on how to find out the amounts donated. Paulette will talk to Steve about it. Police: Roy Bethge: Roy stated that he is working on manpower issues. He will have officers for the Main Stage at night. Everything else is going well. Park District: Terri Ebner— Terri had a question about the teen stage, but was told by Karen there will not be a teen stage this year. Issues were discussed about where we could put the stage if we do have one. JV asked if the stage could be placed on the new tennis courts. Terri stated that the committee would be responsible for any damage to them. Terri said that their first choice would be Emerick Park east, which is east of the football field. Karen stated that is would be too close to the Main Stage. There are no lights there and we would have to bring our own lights in. Karen asked about Emmerick Park west. Terri will check. JV wishes to do without the Teen stage this year. Terri stated that the BG Idol is going great. Auditions will be held on July 29 for ages 9 years old and up. The MC this year will be Mike Terson. Parade: Joe Tenerelli/Ken Lazar - Joe was not present. Paulette stated that the parade marshal will be named by the next meeting. Mobile Com: Roger Remblake - Roger was not present. Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/Mo Welborn - Rick stated that he has no report. Rick stated that he needs to know how much room he has in the tent for the displays of the artists with disabilities. He also stated that he needs 20 cases of pop and needs water for the program. Ron Jess can help getting donations. Rick will have space to store it until the festival if he gets it early. Fire Department: George Michehl - George was not present. Public Works: Dave Haisma/Brett Robinson - Dave was not present but e-mailed his report to Paulette He reports that the contracts for the power, porta potties, bus service and trailer for the Main Stage are being worked on but not yet signed by Bill Brimm. Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover— DeAnn stated that she was contacted by Helping Our Heroes. They want to know if they can do something at the festival as a not-for-profit in the tent. They wish to increase awareness of the program. Paulette will talk to Steve, but we have 2 to 3 not-for-profits on a waiting list to sell. Chamber/Corporate Sponsorship: Scott Fishkin/Sharon Feld— Sharon and Scott were not present. Paulette stated that Lynn and Mark are asking us to reconsider having a VIP party. They feel it is too drastic a drop off with no party at all. Last month we voted to do plaques and pictures, with Rhonda and Jim taking care of that. The Chamber has asked for cookies and coffee. Paulette likes the idea of having wine, beer and cheese, with the Chamber providing the beer. Arlene suggested an adult only party. Paulette stated that we will then have a wine and cheese party, with beer also served, for adults only. She said that we can still do the plaques but a question was raised if we want to get pictures of the presentation during the event. We want to thank the right people. Further discussion will occur next month. Food Tent: Steve Schultz/Sandi Carothers - Steve was not present. Setup/Take down: Steve Antman— Steve Antman was not present. Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak - Jim stated that they are starting to get applications in. He has too many applications for jewelry. Kids Corner Tent: Betty Lou Manso, - Betty stated that she has sent out a letter out to three companies for sponsorship of the event. Paulette stated that Lynn at the Chamber can help her with getting sponsors. Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Murray Sprung Chuck has no report. Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Jess - Debra stated that they have a tentative diagram of the set up for the carnival, for those people needing to review it. She said that we will have completely different rides this year. Entertainment: Karen Danenberg— Karen stated that she is pretty well set, with only two slots open. There will be no teen entertainment this year. Everything else is good. Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe— Doug stated that they will need a full standard sound system for the beer tent, due to the size of the bands playing there. Adam stated that the Beer Tent stage will be the same stage as last year. He added that we might consider looking at a bigger stage in the future. Adam gave report on sound equipment needed and ordered including the back line. JV asked if they need the same number of risers for the beer tent. Adam stated that they will need one or two more risers depending on a different configuration for the bee tent. Publicity: Lori Hackett Lori stated that she has submitted articles regarding the festival for the village news letter with the newspaper and radio stations. Photography: Hal Norman/Jim Pawlak - Jim stated that they are ready to go. Glow Necklaces: Lori Hackett- Lori stated that she will order the usual number of necklaces again this year. VIP Party: Arlene Kozemzak— Arlene stated that the VIP party was back on. It will be a wine, beer and cheese party. She requested that the letter the Chamber sends out to state no children. Information Booth: Ken Lazar— Ken was not present. Iceman/Cell phones: Ron Jess; Ron stated that he contacted Home City Ice. They are coming in at the same price as last year. We get a total of 690 bags of ice and two ice boxes with doors on each side of them. They are to be delivered Thursday, September 3rd with payment due on delivery. They will deliver ice during the weekend, as needed. They deliver a minimal of 40, 22 pound bags of ice, at $3.50 per bag. Ron gave Paulette the contract for signing. She will pass it on to Bill Brimm. BG Juniors: Rhonda Norman - Rhonda stated that she has no report, but yes she has kids. Village Liaison: Bill Brimm— Bill Brimm was not present. Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members Adam asked why restaurants in BG can't get in to the Food Tent. The festival parking takes up all their available parking spaces. The restaurants can't get the business in during the festival. Discussion occurred about how restaurants were granted space in the Food Tent. Paulette stated that the library wants to come Saturday from 11:00 and 2:00. They will not be reading stories, but will raffle off stuffed animals, have information to register for library cards, and have some give away items. They want some advertisement about their presence at the festival. All they ask for is water, a table and two chairs. Betty Lou stated that 1100 is too early. Karen stated that she can get Chuck Fields, the ventriloquist, in the Kids Corner, on Saturday. Betty Lou would love to have him. .Karen asked if the tent will be too close to the grills for the Barbeque Challenge that is on Saturday also. Both the Kids Corner and the Barbeque Challenge will be using the VIP tent. Paulette stated that we can move the grills and use pop up tents for the Barbeque contest. It was decided to start the Kids Corner at 12:00 to 12:30 Debbie Moritz stated that the BG environmental action team that wants some presence at the festival. Paulette stated that they can have a tent next to the information booth and can have a table. Debbie stated that they are part of the Park District. Penni wanted everyone to know that Scott Anderson was awarded volunteer of the year for the United Way. They will be honoring him for in June. .The Secretary of BG days will send a letter of congratulations from the committee. Ron made a motion to adjourn. Arla seconded the motion.
