The meeting was called to order at 7:02 PM.
Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg
JV stated that this is the first of two meeting this month, July. He also announced that he and
Paulette have called off the meeting on August 18rh'since our meetings go into September and we
would have 6 meetings in a row. That is the night of the vendor meetings.
Paulette stated that she has a list to sign up for name tags and shirts, including the tie dye for
Monday. Everyone will need to figure out the sizes, as they come in men's sizes only.
Paulette stated that the Cash and dash program will return this year. They have specifically
requested to be present our festival. They will be on campus from 12:30 to 5:00 Saturday and
Sunday.
Paulette also received a request that the US Army is offering their services at the festival. They
can supply a football toss, a climbing wall or participate in the parade. Paulette will get back to
them.
Police: Roy Bethge -
Roy stated that all of the overtime has been approved. Other than that, he has no report.
Park District: Terri Ebner—
Teri stated that the Emmerick Park District building has been rededicated.
Teri also announced that Buffalo Grove has been nominated for the best park district for the size
of the village. The final winner will be announced in October in Utah.
Parade: Joe Tenerelli/Ken Lazar -
Joe stated that the first mailings have gone out for the parade. He has received two entries thus
far. Murray will be helping his out this year, along with Lee.
Rick wanted to know if the Buddy Baseball players can be in the parade. Joe will check into it.
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake -
Roger was not present.
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/Mo Welborn -
Rick stated that all of the food vendors are back.
They are working on the art exhibition. They will make it work.. The show will be on Monday.
Buddy Baseball will be on Saturday at 4:00
Fire Department: George Michehl -
JV stated that hopefully they will get the fireworks off on time. They will be bigger and better for
the festival than for the 4rh. The new antenna will be up by then.
Public Works: Dave Haisma/Brett Robinson -
Dave e-mailed Paulette about the need for requests for signs and banners that the Public Work's
needs to make to be submitted. They need to be approved by either Paulette or JV to come to his
department for a request.
Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover—
DeAnn announced that Buffalo Grove has been voted one of the top 65 best cities to live in,
partly due to the BG Days festival.
Chamber/Corporate Sponsorship: Scott Fishkin/Sharon Feld—
Sharon was unable to attend but e-mailed her report to Paulette.
The Chamber needs one more restaurant. Buca's has backed out. They have been sold. They are
looking at possibly Pannera Bread.
Lynn sent out some letters about discount tickets for blood donors for Saturday.
Donations are a bit slow, with $19,000 raised thus far.
The Chamber will be selling Sutter Homes little wine bottles this year in the Beer Tent.
Food Tent: Steve Schultz/Sandi Carothers -
Steve was not present but e-mailed his report to Paulette. He has responses from everyone,
including the lemonade people except for the Girl Scouts (roasted corn). He will try to call again
today regarding their status.
As far as the lemonade people go, he received some documentation from then but e-mailed them
last week requesting they send additional support. He has not heard from them and as of right
now, their spot is now up in the air. We need to discuss how to proceed on a replacement. If he
receives any additional information before the meeting, he will try to get that to the committee in
time for the meeting.
Steve also requested the day and time of the vendor meeting. so he can let the not for profits
know.
Setup/Take down: Steve Antman—
Steve was not present but e-mailed his report.
If we were to consider ceiling fans, Indestructo recommends 10 at a cost of$200a piece which
they would have to install. JV will check into it with Bill Brimm.
Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak -
Jim states that they have 46 crafters signed up and will have a few stragglers. He stated that a lot
of crafters are not coming back.
Jim also stated that it is time to start talking about someone to take over the operation and
scheduling of the van for the Arts and Crafts. Eric Gordon is interested in running the program.
Kids Crafts: Betty Lou Manso:
Betty Lou is trying to get a sponsor for the event.
Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Ken Carothers
Chuck stated that Sweet Baby Ray's will be sponsor for the event, giving $500 in gift certificates.
Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Jess -
Debra stated that they have the ticket prices for the rides.
Thursday night will be $20 wrist bands. Saturday afternoon 12-5 will be $20 wristbands.
It will cost $1.25 per individual ticket.
The presale price for 30 tickets will be $30. We can start selling on delivery, August 3 d. Debra
will talk to Scott, but sales will end by Wednesday September 2.
The Carnival will continue to run the disability program on Monday.
The committee presale tickets will be 30 tickets for $24 on August 11, 25, and September 1.
The posters will have the prices, wrist bands, parade times, and the fireworks on it.
The hours are the same as last year.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—
Karen stated that the entertainment is booked except for one time slot.
On Saturday, from 3:00 to 3:30, she will have a ventriloquist and hopes to have him over by the
Kids Craft Tent.. She also will have a juggler in the kid area.
She has had a number of calls and e-mails about the absence of the Teen stage this year. She has
bee contacted by Kiss FM, who Rhonda Corchin's son is involved with. They can provide a DJ
demo for the teens. Karen will have to talk to the police department, determine where park
district has picnic tables available, or behind the police station, set up with tables. Our space on
campus is tight. She is told that four different DJ's will each do a 20 minute set on Friday
night.They will be broadcasting live from their tent, for a cost of$500 for the presentation. Karen
will speak with the police about it.
Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe—
Doug stated that they are set to go. They tested out the remote for the fireworks on the 4th.
They will not be responsible for any delay in the timing or the fireworks.
Paulette stated that she needs a final count of risers. Adam stated that they need a minimum is 10,
but would like a couple of extra. Paulette stated that last year, they had 13 risers, including those
in the craft area.
Adam stated that they need 6 for the Beer Tent, 6 for the Main stage and 2 for the craft area.
They may need a couple more if a Teen area may go on.
Publicity: Lori Hackett/Dan Olbur
Lori gave thanks to Paulette for all her work on the newsletter. They are in the final stages of the
newsletter before it goes to the printer. They are also making arrangements for the brochure to
be printed. The newsletter will be printer by August 3, and in the homes by the week of August
15.

Glow Necklaces: Lori Hackett-
Lori stated that she has 1000 of necklace ordered. That is the same number that we ordered last
year.
VIP Party: Arlene Kozemzak/Pam Soracco/Betty Lou Manso —
Arlene stated that they will try for a wine tasting party this year. Cooper's Hawk will do the wine
tasting for the party.
Information Booth: Ken Lazar—
Ken was not present.
Iceman/Cell Phones: Ron Jess
Ron stated that it is frozen. Other than that, no report.
BG Juniors: Rhonda Norman -
Rhonda is not present. She is half to way to Wisconsin.
Village Liaison: Bill Brimm—
JV stated that Bill Brimm says hello but was unable to be present.
Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members
It was announced that the 2009 Bill Reed service award went to Paulette Greenberg. Everyone
congratulated her for her award, honor and work she had done for the community.
Paulette announced that this weekend is the Buffalo Grove Art Festival. The Commission for
Residents with Disabilities will have a cart for transport and a senior walk around. There will also
be a disability walk around.
Paulette stated that this year, besides a regular van for the arts and crafts area, we will get a cargo
van, in case need to get things moved around.
Ron made a motion to adjourn. Joan seconded the motion.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:56.
