The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM.
Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg
JV stated that this is the last meeting in July.
Paulette stated that she has a bag of BG Days tee shirts of various sizes if they work for anyone
who needs a shirt.
Paulette also stated that the Daily Herald's reporter, James Kane, is looking for new comments
and a fresh copy about the festival. Paulette stated that she gave him some names from the
committee to talk to. She warned everyone to be aware of what they say when they talk to a
reporter.
Police: Roy Bethge -
Roy stated that he has nothing to report. Everything is doing great. All the overtime has been
approved. He also stated that the police department is pleased that the Teen Stage is gone.
Park District: Terri Ebner—
Teri stated that the Autumn Park District book is out. Teri stated that additional parking areas
for disability should be ready. The Park District is working on it now. Teri stated that there is
handicapped parking at the Alcott Center, and will be accessible for those people with disabilities
who want to view the parade.
Parade: Joe Tenerelli/Ken Lazar -
Joe stated that some people are backing off of the parade. Dominick's is stating that it is too
expensive. He hopes to call Dominick's headquarters to follow up. Joe states that Wheeling
High School now wants more money to appear in the parade. Bill Brimm had approved an
increase but Joe is still uncertain if they will participate in the BG Parade.
Joe states that he has received 40 applications and expects that he will receive a number of late
comers. Joe states that he is still in need of parade sponsors. He says that he will need signs for
the parade. He was instructed to contact Dave for them.
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake -
Roger was not present but Adam stated that they are good to go and all is set.
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/Mo Welborn -
Rick stated that they are all set food wise. The Buddy Baseball kids will not be in the parade.
The artists for disabilities will go on and they have 5 to 10 entries so far. Rick asked about
cordoning off an area in front of the Main Stage for people with disabilities. He requests that the
committee put up a sign with a rope to designate it as a disability area. He stated that Arlington
Heights has an area for people with wheelchairs. Paulette is not sure where and how to do it but
will work on it. Rick also asked about disability viewing for the parade. Teri stated that there is
handicapped parking at the Alcott Center. Paulette will see about getting it into the newsletter
about disability parking and viewing for the parade at that location. She will also see about
getting it on the village blotter.
Rick was asked when people should show up for Buddy Baseball. He said that people usually
start arriving around 3:30 with the game at 4:00. Rick informed that committee that the walk
around, Ronald McDonald is not longer a part of the McDonald company and he is unsure if he
will show up for the Fun and Food progam. Rick also stated that he has a sponsor of Family
Benefit Solutions, who will be supplying the goodie bags for the Fun and Food program.
Fire Department: George Michehl -
George stated that they have prepared the shift assignments for the education demonstration both
for the festival.
He will meet with Chuck about the judges for the Barbeque Challenge.
Public Works: Dave Haisma/Brett Robinson -
Dave was not present and did not e-mail a report.
Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover—
DeAnn commented that there have been discussions in this meeting about Schaumburg's festival
but stated that they have a deficit of funds for their festival. She said that all villages with festivals
are cutting back. She reported that she attended the finance meeting last night and they will be
looking at different things for next year's BG Days. Everyone will be expected to tighten their
belts financially.
Chamber/Corporate Sponsorship: Scott Fishkin/Sharon Feld—
Sharon was not present but e-mailed her report to Jane. The restaurants are set as to who is
coming and what they are selling. Paulette is aware of the extra 17rh restaurant.
The Business Fair still has one opening. Money for the Friends of the Fest must be received by
August 19rh. The Chamber continues to raise money in Corporate Sponsorship.
Food Tent: Steve Schultz/Sandi Carothers -
Steve stated that all of the not-for-profits groups are in, but the lemonade guy is not coming
back. There is one more spot for the not for profit or the Chamber can have the spot if someone
is on the waiting list.
Setup/Take down: Steve Antman—
Steve was not present but e-mailed Jane that everything is good.
Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak -
Jim stated that things are progressing ever so slowly. He has extended the deadline for receipt of
the applications. He is just hitting 40 crafters now and is hoping to get 50 for the festival.
Jim stated that he is happy to pass the driver's keys to Eric Gordon for the van, who has
volunteered to coordinate the schedule for driving the van. Jim reminded everyone that if you
even think you may drive the van, to get a copy of the front and back of your driver's license
drive a van. When asked, Jim stated that all of last year's information was shredded after the
festival.
The Van Man: Eric Gordon
Eric has no report.
Kids Craft: Betty Lou Manso/Debi Moritz
Betty Lou reported that they will be doing the following crafts: Sun catchers, picture frames,
ribbon barrettes, gecko magnets, marble painting, bead jewelry and tattoos. There will be a
juggler and a ventriloquist present at the Kids Craft Tent. The library will have a table and Igby
will visit for a while. She will string a rope up in the back of the tent to hang paintings to dry for
later pick up by the kids.
Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Ken Carothers
Chuck stated that he has no report.
Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Jess -
Penni asked that the Park District and Public Works make their final check of the carnival layout
to approve and finalize set up. When asked, Penni stated that last year's carnival tickets are still
good this year.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—
Karen stated that the KISS FM for the Teens will be a no. The decision was made by the police
and everyone involved. They wanted more money than Karen was willing to pay.
Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe—
Adam stated that they had questions about the Destination contract that came without the size of
the group or the needs for the band, including no phone number or whatever. Karen will get back
to them on that.
Adam also asked about the entertainment in the Craft area, about what Audio needs they have,
particularly the dance groups. Karen stated that the dance groups always bring their own music
CD. Adam stated that the CD is often burned on a home computer and they have problems using
it on the system we have for the Arts and Craft area. The groups expect them to have the means
to play and broadcast the music for the acts. Karen will look into it. Adam stated that they want
to know the names of the dance groups that are performing. Karen confirmed that here is no DJ
this year in the craft area.
Doug stated that they are good for the sound for the fireworks. JV asked if they would be able to
broadcast the sound to all those viewing the fireworks. Adam stated that he can guarantee
broadcasting the music to Willow Stream Park and the golf course. He has a range of at least 5
miles.
Publicity: Lori Hackett/Dan Olbur
Lori stated that the Daily Herald is asking if there is an admission fee for the festival and the hours
of the festival. Lori will get back to them with the information. Lori also sent the Daily Herald a
copy of the cover page from the newsletter. Paulette stated that the newsletter is ready for
sending to the printer tomorrow. Corrections have already been made.

Hal stated that they have no report.
Glow Necklaces: Lori Hackett-
Lori stated that the glow necklaces have been ordered and delivered.
VIP Party: Sara Ciolli/Arlene Kozemzak—
Arlene stated that they had a meeting tonight before the BG Days meeting. They now have a
copy of the letter that was sent out by the Chamber for food donations. Judy Katz will help with
the party also. They already have several food donations for the party. They also have a list of
invitees and they will follow up this week in regards to requested donations.
The party will be serving wine, cheese, snacks and cakes. They will have less food than in the
past but still will be picking up donations and will need volunteers to help with that.
Karen confirmed that the VIP Party will have music piped in but not live music.
Information Booth: Ken Lazar—
Ken was not present.
Iceman: Ron Jess
Ron was not present but JV stated that the Iceman will be helping to provide ice before the
festival.
BG Juniors: Rhonda Norman -
Rhonda stated that she has 24 parental permission slips printed up and are the front table. She
will e-mail the form to Jane, who will e-mail it to all committee members before the next meeting.
When she gets all of the permission slips, she can begin scheduling. Rhonda stated that last year
the ride tickets reward for volunteering got abused. She hopes to come up with another method,
as in a gift card for food from a local restaurant. Teri stated she could get them from Culver's
and/or Burger King. She will give Teri a number in a few weeks of how gift cards she needs.
Village Liaison: Bill Brimm—
Bill Brimm stated that he had no report and it is good to be back.
Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members
JV announced that Buffalo Grove has been sited for being the 65rh best village in the US for a
population of 50,000.
Rodney made a motion to adjourn. Dave seconded the motion.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:53.
