The meeting was called to order at 7:06
Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg
JV stated that next month, we start with 2 meetings a month. Then in July we will have 2
meetings and according to the schedule, there are 5 meetings on August. One will be cancelled,
but he and Paulette are not sure which meeting will be cancelled.
Paulette stated that she has been asked by the village about the bgdays.org website. They want to
know the difference from the vbg.org/bgdays website. Jim stated that there are more photos on
bgdays.org, that it is closer to the newsletter. He wishes for a link from the vbg.org website.
Paulette will check with them about it.
Paulette stated that there are 56 members on the committee. She said that we are closed to new
members this year. Brian will be an official volunteer but not appointed this year.
Police: Roy Bethge—
Roy stated that they are working on the schedule and engaged in the pre planning for the festival.
Other than that, he has nothing to report.
Parade: Ken Lazar/Lee Orlov/Murray Sprung. Rodney Odelson -
Rodney stated that we will have a parade this year. Rodney stated that he spoke to Jane Olson
about what he needs to know. The sub committee has their own e-mail address, bgday
paradeggmail.com.
Rodney stated that he has spoken to several people and they are starting to get things in order.
Paulette suggested that they stay in touch with Bill Brimm about the money needed for the
parade. She informed them that they have a budget.
DeAnn wanted to know if there is one person who will take the lead for this subcommittee as
there are so many involved. Rodney will lead and will be the contact person. He checks the
e-mail and Jane Olson contacts him directly with questions or issues.
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake -
Roger was not present.
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/Mo Welborn -
Rick stated that he has confirmed food donations for the Fun and Food lunch from the Village
Grill, Weiner Take All and TGI Friday's.
Rick stated that they received a cash donation from Shari Schneider at"Family Benefit
Solutions". They are also providing gift bags to all players of the Buddie Baseball game.
Fire Department: George Michehl—
George was not present.
Park District: Teri Ebner—
Teri stated that she has no report.
Public Works: Dave Haisma/Brett Robinson—
Dave was not present.
Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover—
DeAnn has no report.
Chamber/Corporate Sponsorship: Sharon Feld/Scott Fishkin—
Alan stated that they havel4 of 18 restaurants signed up. They have 6 to 7 Businesses out of 20
booths signed up.
When questioned, Alan stated that it is too soon for Corporate Sponsorship. The letters just went
out.
Food Tent: Sandi Carothers/Steve and Mari Antman -
Sandi has no report.
Steve was not present, but e-mailed his report to Jane. He stated that the Girl Scouts will be back
and they are looking to serve corn, pretzels and nachos with cheese. Na'Amat Aviva Club will be
back serving bottled water, Good Humor ice cream and candy. Troop 140 BSA will be back
requesting 2 spaces and providing cola diet cola, cherry cola, Sprite and diet Sprite. The troop
leader indicated "and water when no one else is selling water". Steve will get clarification on
potential duplicity of sale items well in advance to prevent any conflict. Steve stated that the
Knights of Columbus will be back doing the basketball toss in the lot.
DeAnn asked about having 2 different Boy Scout troops, one on each side, selling soda.
Paulette stated that they thought of that last year but no one else applied for the second booth.
DeAnn suggested that one booth could have coke products on one side and Pepsi
items on the other. JV asked Jane to make some calls about another Boy Scout troops interested
in manning the second booth.
Setup/Take down: Steve Antman—
Steve was not present.
Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak -
Jim and Joan have no report.
Van Man: Eric Gordon
Eric was not present.
Paulette stated that she received an e-mail from Eric, asking about the second van. JV offered his
van for use if a second one was needed.
Kids Craft Tent:Betty Lou Manso/Debi Moritz
Betty Lou was not present.
Jane stated that besides e-mailing committee members for egg cartons, that she placed a wanted
post on freecycle. Betty Lou and Jane have been picking up a number of cartons. Ron suggested
going to Continental Restaurant and Buffalo Restaurant, asking them to save their egg cartons.
Ron will call and Jane can pick them up.
Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Murray Sprung
Chuck stated that he is having problems with getting Sweet Baby Ray's as sponsor this year.
Chuck stated that he still needs a big sponsor. JV stated he might be able to help with that.
Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Jess -
Penni stated that they are working on getting a diagram of the carnival layout by next meeting.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—
She stated that everything is going well. The contracts are all out and she is waiting for them to
come back.
Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe—
Doug stated that they have one stage fixed and another one on hold for the BG Palooza..
Doug stated that everything else is going fine.
Publicity: Lori Hackett
Lori stated that they will get everything together and ready by June for the newsletter.
Lori stated that Jane is working to help with the bands' bio's.
Paulette confirmed that we are using the same graphic designer as last year.
Paulette stated that we need a theme for the festival this year and will discuss it later in the
meeting.

Glow Necklaces: Lori Hackett-
Lori has no report.
VIP Party: Arlene Kozemzak/Pam Soracco —
Judy stated that they have no report.
Information Booth: Ken Lazar—
Ken has no report..
Iceman: Ron Jess —
Ron stated that he has the contract for the ice. He is saving the committee $40 as he got the
company to give him a discount.
BG Juniors: Rhonda Norman—
Rhonda has no report.
Healthy Kids: Lori Hackett/Mari Antman
Lori stated that she was still working away on it.
She is working to get Northwest Community Hospital involved with a dietician. They will get
back to her this week. JV suggested getting the heart association involved.
Lori stated that she has the Diabetes Association awareness group involved She has a
demonstration of tae kwon do scheduled, along with a food demonstration,. She has a doctor
who will be present for instruction and questions.. She is trying to work with the Park District for
a trainer for healthy kids.
Village Liaison: Bill Brimm—
Bill was not present.
DeAnn stated that the Monday June 7th will be Bill's last Village Board meeting. He will then be
going on vacation. JV asked DeAnn to tell Bill the committee would like him to attend the June 8
th
meeting.
Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members
Murray asked about setting up a recycling center for cell phones at the Information Booth.
Murray has now been assigned to this project by Paulette. Debi Moritz stated that the
Environmental Action Team could take it on to collect the cell phones.
Debi talked about the bike valet program and is investigating about the bike racks from the
Village and where to put the bike racks. Comments were made that the bike racks from the
Village are bolted into the sidewalk and are not free standing. They are removed for BG Days.
Debi stated that they need a place for the bike racks, but there are no village bike racks to use.
Debi will work on it. Debi stated that the committee needs to publicized the bike valet program
and the place to leave the bikes. Debi was told that if the Environmental Action Team could fine
bike racks, that would work. The committee would find room for them. Debi will call Dave
from Public Works for follow up.
Paulette stated that we need a theme this year for BG Days. Discussion occurred and the decision
was A Healthier and Greener BG Days with the letters in green.
Ron made a motion to adjourn. Rodney seconded the motion.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:43.
