The meeting was called to order at 7:08
Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg
Erwin Borowsky was introduced as a new member tonight.
Paulette stated that we begin 2 meetings in June and July, then every week in August.
She is working on updating the blurbs for the sub committees for the newsletter. She requested
that the subcommittees submit their own blurbs in the next two weeks.
Paulette stated that they are looking for a volunteer to get gift cards or in kind prizes for the Fun
and Food program. Eric volunteered.
Paulette also asked about getting water donated from Jewel and prizes for the kids craft area.
Paulette stated that we used 23 cases of last year for the Fun and Food.
Paulette apologized for the switch to this room. She was notified at 4:10 about the switch.
Police: Roy Bethge—
Roy introduced the new police intern, Becca, who has a parent on the CERT team.
Parade: Ken Lazar/Lee Orlov/Murray Sprung. Rodney Odelson -
Rodney stated that they have a new group. The people at the Schwaben Center have shown some
interest. Rodney stated that the Medina people will follow the horses with pooper scoopers for
the droppings.
He said that other than that they are looking good and will be sending out applications tomorrow.
Arla asked about letting people know that street will be closed for the parade. Rodney stated that
paper signs will be placed out the night before along the parade route. These will include no
parking signs..
Murray requested there be a porta potty at the beginning of the parade route for the participants.
JV stated that the problem with that is in moving it back and forth.
JV stated that Arla was named to the blood commission last night.
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake -
Roger has no report.
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/1VIo Welborn -
Rick was not present but e-mailed his report to Jane.
Their planning continues and other than that, he has no report.
Fire Department: George Michehl—
George stated that he is working with Chuck on the Grilling Challenge. He has secured the three
big grills for the contest.
He is working on the Fire Department public education program for the side street
Park District: Teri Ebner—
Teri was not present but e-mailed her report to Jane.
Teri stated that the Buffalo Grove Park District has 2 portable bike racks that the committee can
use. If the committee would like to use them, she is asking where the Park District should place
them.
Other than that, Teri has no report.
It was suggested that the bike racks be place on the north side of Public Works, in the grassy area
facing the police station.
Public Works: Dave Haisma/Brett Robinson—
Dave was not present.
Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover—
DeAnn was not present.
Chamber/Corporate Sponsorship: Sharon Feld/Scott Fishkin—
Sharon stated that they had 17 out of 18 restaurants filled, with one more opening available.
The Business Fair has filled 7 1/2 out of 20 booths.
Corporate Sponsorship continues. .
Adam talked about the banners for the Main Stage. He said that we still need sponsors for
banners.
Food Tent: Sandi Carothers/Steve and Mari Antman -
Steve stated that everything is going well and smoothly,
He has had an issue the scout troop that sells the Coke products. They have two booths. There
is another troop with an interest in selling beverages at the festival. St. Mary's troop is quite
large. The other group is a combination of two troops, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. St. Mary's
does not want to give up their two booths.
Paulette stated that we will talk more about this next meeting.
Setup/Take down: Steve Antman—
Steve stated that all is well.
Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak -
Jim stated that 28 booths are taken. They are on their way, but it is a slow go with the economy.
He does not anticipate much of a change until July.
Van Man: Eric Gordon
Eric asked about parking for the Craft Fair.
Jim explained the procedure for the crafter parking.
Kids Craft Tent:Betty Lou Manso/Debi Moritz
Betty Lou stated that she does not need prizes for the Kids Craft Tent. She also thanked all those
on the committee who have been saving egg cartons for her.
Betty Lou stated that she has been contacted by an insurance agent that he wishes to donate $300
for sponsorship, but wants to set up a tent to give out coloring books with the agents there to talk
to parents. The idea was vetoed.
Grilling Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Murray Sprung
Chuck stated that he is still looking for a food sponsor. He is looking for $400 in gift certificates
as a major sponsor.
Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Jess -
Penni sated that they have the layout of the carnival for the groups that need it;
There will be a new ride, a wacky mouse two story family roller coaster.
The water ride, the Freak Out will return.
Tilt a Whirl will return for Karen, along with Pharaoh's Ferry, and Gravitation
The ticket booth will be in the same place as last year. There will be three wrist band days,
Thursday night, Saturday afternoon 12 to 5, and Monday 12:30 to 6. All wrist bands will cost
$22. Presale ticket will go on sale at Village Hall August 2nd through August 30. Sales will be
22 tickets for $30 and 55 tickets for $60.
The committee will have a separate presale. They still need to figure out the price.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg—
Karen stated that she has just about booked everything.
She will have Sonic the Hedgehog for the kids for the buddy baseball game.
She has a juggler, an organ grinder with a monkey and a ventriloquist.
For BG Palooza, she has 8 bands booked Saturday and Sunday, which will run from 1 to 7 each
day.
Friday night, we open with the White Saddle Band followed by Hi Infidelity. On Saturday, we
open with Cover Story, followed by American English. On Sunday we have one band, 25 or 6 to
4.
Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe—
Adam stated that it will cost $1,750 to drop off the stage, then $500 per day to keep the stage.
He said that we need to figure out where to put the stage before it gets here. . He said that
putting it in the previous location is too expensive.
Adam also stated that Diversified with give us the sound system for $400 per day.
We will need the sound system for Saturday and Sunday.
Publicity: Lori Hackett
Lori stated that they are working on articles for the newsletter in the next two weeks. They will
also be working on rearranging the layout.

VIP Party: Judy Katz/Pam Soracco —
Judy has no report.
Information Booth: Ken Lazar—
Ken asked about putting not for profit information for pick up at the information booth, JV
stated that he will let him know. Ken suggested a side table for that purpose.
Iceman: Ron Jess —
Ron has no report.
BG Juniors: Rhonda Norman—
Rhonda had no report.
Healthy Kids: Lori Hackett/Mari Antman
Mari and Lori are working on a relay. They are trying to break it down into age brackets.
Families can sign up on the web for the relay.
Village Liaison: Bill Brimm—
Bill had no report.
Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members
Paulette stated that Bill Brimm was named and crowned Grand Marshall of this year's parade two
weeks ago. She stated that he has been issued an apron, a blue shirt and a tie dye shirt. He has
yet to complete his talent bank application and his conflict of interest form.
JV announced that Bill will not leave the committee. He has been a tremendous support of the
committee and the festival. JV said that at his last village board meeting last night, he received
two standing ovations.
Bill thanked the committee for allowing him to be a part of the group. He has worked on the BG
Days committee since 1978, and he is honored to be the Parade Marshal. He looks forward to
continue working with the committee.
Rodney made a motion to adjourn. Rhonda seconded the motion.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50.
