JV thanked everyone for working the festival last year. We broke records and we did not lose any chairs. Paulette told the new committee members that after a couple of meeting, they should see if there is a sub committee in which they want to volunteer. .. She reminded all members to sign in at the front desk to be counted as attending the meeting. Jane Olson will e-mail to all members the conflict of interest statements to be signed and returned to her by April V.. Dane and Scott at Village Hall have a budget for this year's festival. There will be a meeting for all sub committee chairpersons after the general meeting to discuss the budget and our limitations. Paulette stated that we will be going in some new directions this year and some things will be coming back. Every committee member is expected to work a minimum of 12 hours during the festival weekend. . Alan Danenberg will be the sub chair person for the restructured Publicity and Marking sub committee, which will include the festival website, stories, newspaper articles, ads and the newsletters. We have a green light from Village Hall to do new things this year. We will now be able to go outside the Village, as a committee, to solicit donations for the festival from such companies as Waste Management, Comcast, phone companies, and audio stores like Best Buy. This will become part of the Publicity/Marketing committee. The Chamber will continue to solicit money within the Village boundaries. Paulette stated that we have received bids on the big tents, tables and chairs. Bids have also been received on the sound equipment. Walgreen's is interested in participating in a large way in the Healthy Kids Fair. They wish to have a health booth, giving blood pressure tests etc in addition to donating bottled water. Last meeting, Paulette discussed her disappointment in the lack of people power when it was most needed on Saturday and Sunday mornings/afternoons. She personally cleaned St. Mary's field on Sunday morning for 2 hours before the maintenance company came. This year we have created an Event Set Up/Take Down committee to tackle this problem this year. We will also go back to having the Information booth manned in 2-3 hours shifts. Info booth is a gathering place for all, but there were many times no one was there last year. Police: Roy Bethge— Roy has no other report. Parade: Ken Lazar/Lee Orlov/Murray Sprung. Rodney Odelson - There is no report. Mobile Com: Roger Remblake - There is no report. Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/1VIo Welborn - There is no report. Fire Department: George Michehl— There is no report. Park District: Teri Ebner— There is no report. Public Works: Dave Haisma/Brett Robinson— There is no report. Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover— DeAnn welcomed back all committee members. She stated that we are the Village committee that has the most fun but works the hardest. We make the Village look good. She stated that JV and Paulette are the best co-chairs ever. Chamber/Corporate Sponsorship: Scott Fishkin— There is no report. Food Tent: Sandi Carothers/Steve and Mari Antman - There is no report. Event Setup/Take down: Ron Greco Paulette stated that we will ask people to sign up to move chairs and tables around for various venues during the festival. We will have specific times of need for volunteers and will have a sign up sheet for that Ron Greco will be in charge of this newly revamped sub committee. JV stated that last year was the best on parking cars on the festival campus, especially thanks to Sandi. Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak - There is no report. Van Man: Eric Gordon There is no report. Kids Craft Tent: Betty Lou Manso/Debi Moritz There is no report. BBQ Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Scott DeSoto Chuck stated that Scott DeSoto will be his co chair for the sub committee. Other than that, there is no report. Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Raphaelson There is no report. Entertainment: Karen Danenberg/Marlene Kozak Karen stated that Friday night Main Stage is booked with Mike and Joe. Sunday night before the fireworks is also booked. She has the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band performing. This will most likely include the Jazz ensemble. . Karen stated that Marlene will be a co chair for the sub committee. Audio/Visual: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe There is no report. Publicity and MarketingL Alan Danenberg Paulette announced that Alan Danenberg will chair this restructured sub committee, which will now be Publicity and Marketing. This will include management of the web site, newspaper articles, advertisements, the newsletter, and general PR. Paulette stated that if you enjoy writing, this is the sub committee for you. She said that after meeting with Village officials, the committee will be allowed to solicit business outside the village for corporate sponsorship. This committee will be coordinating with Ghida on the corporate sponsorship. Glow Necklaces: Lori Hackett- There is no report. VIP Party: Judith Katz/Pam Soracco There is no report. Information Booth: Ken Lazar Paulette stated that we have to have schedule shifts for the information booth this year. Last year, the booth was left unattended at times. She wants Ken to make out a schedule and this will be hours available for committee members to volunteer. Iceman: Ron Jess There is no report. BG Juniors: Rhonda Norman There is no report. Healthy Kids: Lori Hackett/Mari Antman Lori has no report. Rhonda stated that Walgreens wants to make a big presence at the festival this year. They have 3 stores in Buffalo Grove. They are considering having a float in the parade. They are donating water to the committee. They are looking for some type of health and screening booth. They would be pooling all stores resources together. Rhonda stated that exactly what they will do is still in question. Maybe they could join it with the Healthy Kids and the Kids Craft area.
