Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg JV announced that Mike Millet has retired from the Buffalo Grove Police Department. JV read a letter he wrote to the Chief of Police regarding how outstanding Mike was as an officer.. Paulette congratulated Jim for a joining the alarm clock and rush hour folk as he now has a job. Paulette announced that DeAnn is retired from the committee as Trustee Liaison but now has the title of Trustee Liaison Emeritus. Paulette introduced Bev Sussman and Steve Trilling as our new Trustee Liaison. Paulette noted that it took two people to replace Leann. Paulette announced that the new Village liaison will be Scott Anderson. Paulette stated that Chuck found an ATM company that will give back 75 cents per transaction. They will monitor the machine 24 hours per day. We will be receiving 2 machines. They will charge users $3 per transaction. Paulette will send over a contract as is agreeable to the committee. It will be addressed to Scott Anderson. JV introduced our guest Bill Baling, past village manager of Buffalo Grove. He is presently president elect of the Buffalo Grove Rotary, club. Bill is requesting for the Rotary Club to participate in an additional event during BG days. It would be a .duck race event on Buffalo Grove Creek at Emmerich Park. The plan is for the event to take place on Park District property. The Rotary Club will be selling ducks to flow along the creek. JV stated that presently the Rotary Club runs Bingo on Thursday night, and the pancake breakfast and raffle on Sunday. Debra stated that there is probably a contract about a game on the carnival side. The carnival should have input on this. They do have a duck game at the carnival. Bill stated that they will only need about 100 feet of the creek for the course. It was suggested that the Rotary Club set it up at the Golf Course, with the start in the rough and end before Lake Cook Road. Bill will take that under consideration. Paulette asked Debra to call the carnival and ask them about the Rotary proposal. If this can be worked out, the committee does not have a problem with the event occurring. Debra will check with the carnival about the feasibility of the event. Bill stated that they are looking for a time frame on Monday from 1:30 to 2:00 but that is negotiable. JV stated that the committee should know by the June 14th meeting. In the meantime, the Rotary will cover bases with the Village and the Park District. The Rotary will also work with the Chamber regarding the location for their booth inside the storm fence. They would like to sell the ducks during the weekend, maybe sell them near the Beer sales booth. JV noted that Jeff Berman is here tonight. Police: Scott Eisenmenger Scott has no report. Parade: Ken Lazar/Lee Orlov/Murray Sprung. Rodney Odelson Rodney stated that the little train will be back again this year. He also announced that Bill Brimm agreed to do the commentary for the parade this year. Rodney stated that they have 6 entries in the parade. Mobile Com: Roger Remblake Roger was not present. Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/Mara Sabath Rick stated. they will have the shuttle carts again this year but they will have one running on Wednesday for the softball game. Fire Department: George Michehl George was not present. Park District: Teri Ebner Teri stated that at the last meeting, there was a discussion about a bus to transport the runners back and forth from the Park District run to the Pancake breakfast. Teri stated that the Park District will get their own bus, but thanked the committee for their efforts. Public Works: Dave Haisma/Brett Robinson Dave was not present. Trustee Liaison: DeAnn Glover Bev stated she is happy to be a member of the BG Days committee. Steve concurred. Neither has a report. Jeff stated that he is not a liaison to the committee, and was here unofficially. He has no report. Chamber/Corporate Sponsorship Scott Fishkin Scott was not present. Food Tent: Sandi Carothers/Steve and Mari Antman - Steve was not present but emailed his "no report"to Jane. Event Setup/Take down: Ron Greco Jane is working on the cell phone lists and the quick list for Ron. Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak - Jim stated that he has had many inquiries from jewelry crafters. He is waiting to hear from last year participants. Van Man: Eric Gordon Eric was not present but e-mailed his "no report"to Jane. Kids Craft Tent:Betty Lou Manso/Debi Moritz Betty Lou has no report. BBQ Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Murray Sprung Chuck stated that he will have one, Chuck is trying to get celebrity judges from local restaurants as judges this year. Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Raphaelson Debra stated that she has the layout of the carnival for those who need them, including the Fire, the Police, the Park District and the Trustees. Debra stated that we are getting back the rides we like, We will be getting Freak Out and Wacky Mouse, We will have 17 rides. Debra will check with the carnival about the committee putting an ATM on the carnival side. Entertainment: Karen Danenberg/Marlene Kozak Karen invited Mike Danenberg to talk about the BG Palooza. Mike stated that last year's location was not optimal so they are making some changes. They are eliminating the Palooza stage and the focus during the day time will be on the Main Stage. There will be 5 local bands from the area, to draw in people ages 14 to 30. Infinity will be the headliner on Saturday night. Mike talked about Chris Medina, from American Idol who was eliminated about a month ago. His band is called the Able Body, will draw more people because of the American Idol show. His performance is not set in stone yet. Combining everything on Saturday from the Palooza to the end of the Main Stage performance, there will be entertainment on the Main Stage from 3:00 to10:30 PM. There will be 30 minutes sets for each local band. When asked, Mike stated that Infinity has 9 members in the band. He does not believe there will be any conflicts with the Kids entertainment. Karen stated that on Friday night, Mike and Joe will be the headliners. Saturday night we will have Infinity as the headliner. On Sunday, we will have Gone to Paradise, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band. All the contracts have been returned signed. The cartoon walk arounds have been eliminated. New this year, there will be dueling pianos in the Beer tent Friday night. The BG Jazz band will play first on Friday night before Mike and Joe show. The will be a pocket circus in the craft area on Saturday. They will also have the McNulty dancers and a Martial Arts performance in the Craft Area. In the Kids Craft Tent, there will be a reptile show and ventriloquist. Route 66 and Whitey O'Day will return in the beer tent. Tommy Hawk will be one of the walk arounds this year. All major sports teams will be represented including the Black Hawks, the Bulls, and the Bears. For Monday, she will have the usual DJ. Karen stated that they are on their way with entertainment. Plugs and Wires: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe Adam stated that they will need extra risers this year. After discussion, Paulette will order 15 risers with the number to be adjusted closer to the festival. Adam also wanted to know what entertainment will go in the kid area. Publicity: Alan Danenberg Alan stated that they are getting their printed materials from a new graphic designer. Evan Hill, who did the 50 year book, will do it en gratis. There will be a 4 page insert to go out with the Village newsletter and then a tri/quad fold for handing out. Mike has done a face book page for the BG Palooza, Alan stated that it is easier to do a mobile website. VIP Party: Judith Katz/Pam Soracco Judith has no report. Information Booth: Ken Lazar/Mo Welborn Ken asked about the hot list of volunteers. Jane will take care of compiling the list. Paulette stated that we don't want the information booth to be empty for staffing. Iceman: Ron Jess Ron stated that the ice machines broke and there will be no ice, BG Juniors: Rhonda Norman Rhonda has no report. Healthy Kids: Lori Hackett/Mari Antman Lori and Mari were not present. Village Liaison: Scott reported his first official nothing to report to the committee. Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members JV stated that if anyone on the committee needs any signs, they have to go through Paulette. Debbi stated that the Buffalo Grove environmental team will be back and are requesting a booth again this year. They will have recycling cardboard boxes around the campus for recycling cans and bottles. Ron made a motion to adjourn.. Rodney seconded the motion.
