The meeting was called to order at 7:08
Chairman's Report: JV Springman/Paulette Greenberg
JV noted the passing of Joe Tenerelli, who had run the BG Days parade for 25 years.
We will have a remembrance at the information booth.
The wake will be on Friday night at Kolzack's and the funeral mass at 10 at St. Mary's Church.
JV stated that he will be missed.
JV stated that there will be meetings on August 23rd and 30rh. There will be no meeting next
week, August 16rh
JV stated next week will be the meeting for the Business Fair and Food Tent people at the
Chamber office. Scott, Dave, the health department, the Chamber, police and fire will be there.
Paulette stated that Scott Desoto will make a banner for Joe with pictures to honor his passing.
This will be displayed at the information booth.
JV stated that this is the last night for name badges. You will not be able to add your name to the
list after tonight.
JV stated that if you need signs, ask Paulette. No one is to go directly to Dave.
Rhonda will need a couple more signs for her Juniors to hold during the parade.
There will be 2 signs for the grand marshals, a sign for Joe, and a sign for the winner's of"I love
Buffalo Grove" contest. There will be a total of 5 signs with 10 kids needed.
There will be a master book at the information booth for sign ups for volunteers and to sign in and
out when on campus.
Police: Scott Eisenmenger
Scott stated that he is good.
Parade: Ken Lazar/Lee Orlov/Murray Sprung. Rodney Odelson
Rodney stated that he needs a lot of parade marshals to keep the parade moving and possibly at
various intersections along the parade route.
New this year, due to construction on Arlington Heights Road, the parade will enter in staging
areas from different streets.
For bands this year, he has signed up Buffalo Grove High School, Wheeling High School,
Stevenson High School, St. Mary's band and the navy band.
There are 82 participants in the parade this year. He is way under budget.
The Shriner's have 8 groups in the parade this year.
Mobile Com: Roger Remblake
Roger stated that he is getting 25 radios, some with headsets.
He stated that they are going to repeat the glow sticks warning system again this year. Each
person issued a radio in the evening will have a glow stick to take with you. If something
happens, particularly on the field, you can wave your glow stick to give your location.
Roger stated that they have a new mobile com 3 vehicle.
Roger said that at the last meeting, he will spend time on protocol of radios.
Steve asked if there is any number for someone to use if they see something and they have no
radio. Roger instructed the person to call 991. The police will document it and send out the
message to the needed personnel.
Fun and Food: Rick Kahen/Mara Sabath
Mara stated that all of the food is done.
Culvers will be supplying custard cups.
City Sub's is providing sub sandwiches.
Family Benefit Solution's will provide chips.
Memorable Events will supply bottled water.
Outback will supply chicken fingers.
McDonald.s will provide cookies.
For the Buddie baseball game,
Home Safe Home will provide bottled water.
Family Benefit Solutions will provide goodie bags.
Lou Malnatis will provide pizza.
Indian Trails Library will provide the baseballs.
Jon Sabath, Public Adjuster, will provide popsicles.
The goodie bags for Monday are good.
They still need napkins.
After discussion, from now on, the Fun and Food program will allow a family of 5 to participate
free. Any family members beyond 5 will be charged $10 per person. This is a decision from the
Disabilities Commission. She stated that they will need a committee member to sit and collect
money
Mara asked about lights on the golf carts. There will be lights.
Mara stated that they are hoping for 500. They will allow unlimited numbers into the program.
No one will be turned away..
Fire Department: George Michehl
George stated that they are working to support the BBQ Challenge,
On the education side, the tent will be set up with the slide pole.
Park District: Teri Ebner
Teri had a question about when the shuttle bus begins running on Sunday. She was told they
begin at 9:00.
She said that the Park District will run their own buses from 6:30 to 8 AM.
JV wants the Park District drop off at the same stops as the shuttle buses to avoid confusion.
Public Works: Dave Haisma/Brett Robinson
Dave stated that they are prepared.
He said that if anyone needs signage, they need to go through Paulette.
Paulette reminded the Chamber about giving Dave the names of sponsors for the Big Board.
Chamber/Corporate Sponsorship Scott Fishkin
Alan stated that they have 18 restaurants, with 5 on Monday and 3 on
Thursday.
They have 13 booths for the Business Fair.
The last day to give to the Friend of the Fest is August 19rh.
Alan stated that they continue to raise money in corporate sponsorship.
Food Tent: Sandi Carothers/Steve and Mari Antman
Steve stated that he is still waiting for a few letters of intent and checks from the not for profits.
The not for profits meeting will be nest week.
Other than that, he is ready to go.
Event Setup/Take down: Ron Greco
Ron stated that he has the sign up sheet for all the events where help is needed. He also asked
that the sub chair persons check to see the times are correct.
Arts and Crafts: Jim Pawlak/Joan Pawlak
Jim stated that he has 50 crafters. He is waiting on a couple of stragglers.
He will need one electric booth.
Van Man: Eric Gordon
Eric stated that he is covered for Saturday morning, but needs coverage for most of the other time
slots. He is trying to schedule in 2 hour shifts.
Roger asked about putting a mobile radio in the van so he would not be tying up a regular radio.
Kids Craft Tent:Betty Lou Manso/Debi Moritz
Betty Lou stated that she needs place to store her pots for the craft tent.
BBQ Challenge: Chuck Posniak/Murray Sprung
Chuck stated that he has 12 plates, with 5 people cooking.
New prizes will be awarded this year for the People's Choice and Celebrity Choice..
Carnival: Debra Jess/Penni Raphaelson
Price for the presale tickets at Village Hall will be $30 for 30 tickets. Individual tickets cost $1.25
per ticket.
Penni also asked Karen if they could borrow the pop up tent for Monday.
Entertainment: Karen Danenberg/Marlene Kozak
Karen questioned George if the Fire Department was going to "pass the boot" for Muscular
Dystrophy this year as they had in the past. George did not know about a plan but since it had
done in the past, he told her to assume it would happen again..
Karen told Scott she would need Village Hall for some groups changing clothes and requested
females as volunteers for monitoring activity in Village Hall.
Karen stated that as the Food Tent vendors donate food for different activities during the
weekend, she is looking for donations of food for the entertainment.
The Police will be doing a Drive and Don't Text program with Allstate.
Plugs and Wires: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe
When questions, Karen stated that a blow up with a very large space tunnel will be set up on the
field from 2 to 4 PM Sunday.
There is a Monday marshal arts program in the Arts and Crafts area. They will need a
microphone.
The drum kit for BG Palooza has been ordered. There is a request by some bands for a drum
riser carpet. Doug said no problem. They spent $600 for the drum kit.
There will be 2 flat bed golf carts. Ron and Ken will man those. They will also need radio
assignments.
Eric stated he will need electricity at the BBQ Challenge
Publicity: Alan Danenberg
Alan stated that the brochure went to the printer today, thanks to Lisa.
Alan informed the committee they can down load the complete PDF file from the web site.
Alan also stated that there is a slide show up on BG TV for the public. This is on the community
access station.
Alan stated that the press releases will go out in the next couple of days.
Alan also stated that Joanne Johnson is plugging things into the Patch about BG Days.
She is trying to do something every 3-4 days in a blog. She is trying to hit the main topics for BG
days,

Glow Necklaces: Lori Hackett
Lori stated that they have been ordered and delivered,
They have 110 sticks for Monday's Fun and Food Program.
They will cost $2 each, 3 for $5 for the public sales.
Lori stated that she has sign up sheets this year to help with the selling of the glow necklaces.
VIP Party: Judith Katz/Pam Soracco
Arlene stated that they have 13 confirmed vendors.
They will give the final list to Paulette for the signage for sponsors.
They will get a keg of beer from the Chamber.
They will needs lights and a microphone in the tent.
They will need water and ice.
They will have wine tasting from Linford's.
They will be making up the rest of their grocery list in the next two weeks and get it to Paulette.
Arlene stated that there is a sign up sheet in front to help with the party.
They will need drivers to help pick up food, help with set up, help during the party from 6 to 9 to
serve food and clean up.
Information Booth: Ken Lazar/Mo Welborn
Ken stated that he has the sign up sheet, which has lots of blank spots.
Iceman: Ron .Jess
Ron stated that everything is good.
BG Juniors
Rhonda stated that she will restructure Saturday's schedule of Juniors with 2 kid events occurring
that day. She will schedule a couple of kids for each event.
Rhonda will have about 15 to 20 kids helping in the parade.
Rhonda stated that they will be there Monday to help out
Village Liaison: Scott Anderson
Scott has no report.
Trustee Liaison: Beverly Susman/Steve Trilling
Bev asked about moving some porta potties on the parade route. JV stated moving them does
not work.
The van will be available to take people back and forth to the bathrooms.
Steve has no report.
Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members
A discussion occurred about trying to keep the kids from running into the streets during the
parade.
JV stated that in honor and remembrance, Joe Teneralli made a motion to adjourn. Everyone on
the committee seconded the motion.
