ROLL CALL Commissioners Present: Commissioner Goldberg Commissioner Kuffel Commissioner Stone Commissioner Gould Commissioners Absent: Commissioner Kersky Commissioner Loeb Commissioner Wigodner Also Present: Peggy Starczowski Health Inspector APPROVAL OF MINUTES New Business: Josie Gould was welcomed to the Board, she is currently employed by the Cook County Health Department and is a nurse. Activity Report—No comments Buffalo Grove Environmental Action Plan was discussed. The Board was pleased with the progress the Village has made in implementing the program. The Farmers Market will be held starting June 271h, each vendor must be approved by the Health Department. Old Business: Fertilizers containing phosphorous and its impact on water quality was discussed. Everyone previously received a packet of information. Commissioner Loeb was not present and she had been the one to request the scientific studies on the matter. Topic was tabled until next meeting when Commissioner Loeb would be present. Also the State of Illinois is also looking at enacting something statewide on use of fertilizers containing phosphorous. The topic of licensing landscapers was brought up, due to the potentially harmful pesticides they use. However, any company that uses a pesticide must be licensed by the Department of Agriculture. Therefore the Village would not be able to charge to register them. Any complaints about companies not being licensed should be directed to the Department of Agriculture. On-going Sharps and Prescription Drug Disposal Programs were reported on. An email will be sent out to all members to see if anyone can make the regularly scheduled August meeting or if it needs to be rescheduled. Results of the Document Destruction Event were discussed. ANNOUNCEMENTS The next regularly scheduled meeting is August 19,2010 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lower level Conference Room of the Village Hall,50 Raupp Boulevard.
