VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE BOARD OF HEALTH
Regular Meeting
August 19, 2010
The Village of Buffalo Grove Board of Health regular meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. on
Thursday August 19,2010 in the Lower Level Conference Room of the Village Hall,50 Raupp Boulevard.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
New Business:
Activity Report—No comments
Flu Shots:
The Community flu shot clinic will be held on Oct. 91h and will be combination of the seasonal flu vaccine
and the HINT.
Buffalo Grove Days was discussed, not many changes from last year. A few new food vendors will be
there.
Mosquito Abatement:
Northwest Mosquito Abatement sprayed on Monday night 8/ 16/10 and Clarke sprayed on 8/18/10. Only
one more spraying is in the budget. Weather conditions will dictate if more treatments are needed. There
has been one positive test for West Nile Virus in the mosquito pools for Cook County in Buffalo Grove and
one for Lake County in Buffalo Grove.
Old Business:
Fertilizers containing phosphorus.
Governor Quinn signed House Bill 6099 on July 3,2010, which aims at preventing phosphorous
Fertilizer from ending up in Illinois Waterways. The new law prohibits lawn care services from applying
phosphorous fertilizer on residential lawns unless the lawn is new or a proven phosphorous deficiency
exists. The fertilizer can not be applied to lawns that are frozen or saturated. There are also restrictions on
spraying near a body of water. The bill takes effect immediately.
On-going recycling, Sharps and Prescription Drug Disposal Programs were reported on.
The Farmers market was discussed.

The next regularly scheduled meeting is October 21, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lower level Conference
Room of the Village Hall,50 Raupp Boulevard.
