Comments: Commissioner Loeb had sent an email to Peggy Starczowski with concerns about the Board of Health and their role in the Village. Peggy Starczowski indicated that the main day to day responsibility of the Board of Health is to keep abreast of local, regional and national health concerns, as they relate to the health and welfare of the community and to bring forward issues/programs that they feel may benefit the community. From time to time the Village Board of Trustees may request the Board of Health to review an issue, or concern, and to provide a recommendation to them for their use in making a final decision on the issue. History tells us that the Board does not often do this. Commissioner Kersky has spoken with Commissioner Loeb about this. Other members agreed, that the Board of Health should become more active in the Village. Commissioner Kersky mentioned that everyone has a medical background yet they have not been asked for any input on medical issues in the Village, such as water contaminants. Commissioner Kersky went on to say the Board of Health could do some type of education to residents such as the hazards of cleaning up a broken cfl bulb to adult immunizations. Discussion ensued. Peggy Starczowski indicated that the Board of Health could do an article in the Village Newsletter, with some type of: Healthful Hints". Everyone was asked to come up with title for the article and some ideas for upcoming newsletters. ANNOUNCEMENTS The next regularly scheduled meeting is May 19,2011 at 7:30 p.m.in the Lower level Conference Room of the Village Hall,50 Raupp Boulevard. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 8:25 P.M.
