Activity Report—No comments
Unfortunately no one was able to attend the last regional Medical preparedness committee meeting. The
commissioners felt this was a worthwhile committee and would like to be aware of future meetings.
The Health and Wellness Fair was discussed. The attendance was down this year. Some Commissioners
thought maybe people were confusing it with the senior fair the Park district holds. More attention should
be given to the family part of it. It was also suggested to combine it with another event such as the senior
health fair, however that seems to be outgrowing its space now. The Health fair could also serve as a
packet pick up for an upcoming family run that was held around the same time. It was also suggested for
Life Source to hold a mobile blood drive at the same time. Churches and synagogues in the area should
also be notified so they can publish the information as well.
As part of the effort to make the Buffalo Grove Board of Health more visible,we will be submitting articles
for the Village Newsletter under the name"Healthful Hints". Commissioner Battinus will work on a logo.
The next newsletter comes out July 1. It was decided we would do a West Nile Prevention article for this
issue. Members are asked to come up with ideas for future articles. The newsletter comes out 6 times a
year.Basically the articles are due a month prior to delivery date.
A document destruction event will be held on Saturday June 11 from 9AM until 11 AM at the Public
Works lot.
An electronics recycling event will be held on Saturday September 24 from 9 Am until Noon at Siemens at
920 Deerfield Pkwy.
