SAFETY PROCEDURES
1. Align on hoist properly (see Safe Performance Guide)
2. Maintain level position while raising and lowering vehicle
3. Use jack stands when working under a raised unit

SYSTEMATIC SEQUENCE FOR
'PM-A' INSPECTION
RADIATOR
1. Radiator core, water pump, cylinder head, block, heater, hoses and connections - inspect
for leaks.
2. Inspect coolant level and add manufactures recommended coolant if required.
3. Radiator coolant - inspect for signs of oil or combustion leakage.
4. Pressure test if evidence of leakage is present.
BELTS
1. Inspect all belts for condition and adjustment. Replace if required.
FUEL SYSTEM
1. Engine covers on all vans and trucks equipped will be removed for every P.M.
2. Inspect fuel lines, carburetor, fuel pump and governor for chafing, kinks or leaks.
3. Inspect fuel filter, replace as required by manufactures recommendation. Update service
level to “C”
4. Inspect all air filters, engine intake, HVAC clean or replace as necessary.
5. Test operation of throttle, accelerator, shut off and choke controls for binding.
6. Diesel only: a) Inspect primary and secondary fuel filter, replace if damaged or
required by manufactures recommended interval.
Update recorded service level to “C” if replacement necessary.
b) If replacement not required, open petcock and
drain water from primary filter, or water separator.
c) Test emergency stop control - with engine off
d) Air cleaners - clean and refill reservoir with manufactures
recommend oil. Replace dry filter as necessary.
ELECTRICAL/STARTING SYSTEM
1. Inspect all electrical connections and mounting bolts for starter, generator, alternator,
battery, etc. clean and tighten if necessary.
2. Battery: a) Remove cables, clean terminals, reinstall cables,
use fiber washers.
b) Test voltage.
c) Test cells specific gravity with hydrometer unless sealed. If sealed
complete load test
d) Examine level of each cell, add distilled or RO water if required.
e) Examine box, cover, clamps where required.
3. Test all lighting. Repair or replace as required.
4. Test all accessories. Repair or replace as required.
ENGINE
1. Inspect all oil lines for chafing, kinks and leaks.
2. Crank case breather and oil filter cap air cleaner - clean or replace.
3. Inspect intake manifold for leaks.
4. Inspect engine pan gasket, timing chain cover, torque if necessary.
5. Inspect valve cover gaskets, torque if necessary.
6. Inspect engine mounts for deterioration or looseness.
7. Inspect fan clutch and fan.
8. Check engine lubrication oil level adjust as necessary. If lubrication change required
update service level to ‘B’
TRANSMISSION/AUXILIARY/TRANSFER CASE
1. Inspect for leaks.
2. Check fluid levels, add if necessary.
3. Inspect transmission cooler lines for leaks.
4. Inspect clutch controls for any abnormal condition, inspect clearance and adjustment.
STEERING/SUSPENSION/BRAKES
1. Check power steering pump reservoir fluid level and inspect hoses for leaks.
2. Inspect power steering cylinder for leaks.
3. Check lubricant level in steering gear housing.
4. Inspect steering gear play in steering wheel.
5. Tighten steering gear housing to frame.
6. Inspect front ball joints on both wheels for excessive looseness.
7. Inspect front kingpins and bearings on both wheels for looseness.
8. Inspect front springs for shackle looseness and wear.
9. Inspect leaves for breakage and misalignment.
10. Inspect pitman and steering arms, drag link and tie rod.
11. Inspect propeller shaft, check all brackets, flanges, hangers, constant velocity joints,
universal joints, and center bearings for tightness and lubrication.
12. Inspect rear springs for loose or worn shackles, broken or mis-aligned leaves.
13. Inspect rear axle lubricant level add manufactures recommended lubricant if required,
clean breather.
14. Inspect shock absorbers for leakage or worn bushings.
15. Inspect tires for wear and or damage. Replace if worn or damaged.
16. Adjust tire pressure
17. Inspect chassis lubrication system, refill as necessary.
18. Inspect service and emergency brake systems repair or replace as required.
