CFL Recycling ProgramCompact Fluorescent Lightbulb (CFL) Recycling
The Buffalo Grove Health Department along with the Solid Waste Agency
of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) is sponsoring a CFL recycling
program. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recommends the use
of CFL’s in order to minimize energy use and help provide for a cleaner
environment.
Generally, each CFL contains a small amount (5mg) of mercury. The CFL
recycling program was designed to help ensure the environmentally safe
recycling of these bulbs and to remove this potential mercury contamination
from the waste stream.
CFL bulbs can be dropped off at the Buffalo Grove Village Hall 50 Raupp
Blvd. Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Any questions can be
directed to the Health Department at 847-459-2530.
