1999-066• . 0 ORDINANCE NO. 99 -66 GRANTING VARIANCES FROM SECTIONS 14.20.030 AND 14.20.070 OF THE BUFFALO GROVE SIGN CODE Strathmore Square 1202 -1300 West Dundee Road WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is a Home Rule Unit pursuant to the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and WHEREAS, the Petitioner, Raybec Management, on behalf of Strathmore Square Shopping Center, has requested variances for the hereinafter legally described real property, commonly known as 1202 -1300 West Dundee Road, Buffalo Grove, Illinois, from sections 14.20.030 and 14.20.070 of the Buffalo Grove Sign Code for the purpose of installing new copy on the existing ground sign which is located closer to the lot line than is permitted. WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals has held a public hearing, received testimony, prepared minutes, made certain findings, and has made an affirmative recommendation on said request for variation; and WHEREAS,the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Buffalo Grove hereby determine and find that said variations are in harmony with the general purpose and intent of the Sign Code, and 1) not allowing the variances will cause undue and unnecessary hardship due to the Petitioner, 2) granting the requested variances would not be detrimental to the property owners in the vicinity, 3) unusual conditions apply to specific property that do not apply generally to other properties in the Village, and 4) granting the variances will not be contrary to the general objective of the Sign Code of moderating the size, number and obtrusive placement of signs and the reduction of clutter. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, as follows: SECTION 1. The preceding WHEREAS clauses are hereby adopted by the Corporate Authorities. SECTION 2. Variations are hereby granted to Sections 14.20.030 and 14.020.070 of the Village Sign Code to the following legally described property: The east 22 acres of the south 60 across of the south 1/2 of the south east 1/4 of Section 6, Township 42 North, Range 11 East of the Third Principal Meridian, except the north 470 feet as measured on the south line thereof of that part lying south of the north 470 feet as aforesaid and except the east 80 feet of the west 280 feet of the south 225 feet as measured on n lJ ri U the south and west lines thereof and except the south 170 feet of the east 233 feet as measured on the east and south lines thereof except the south 50 feet lying east of the west 280 feet and lying west of the east 233 feet thereof and except the east 50 feet lying south of the north 470 feet and lying north of the south 170 feet thereof, (except that part taken for Arlington Heights Road) in Cook County, Illinois. The specific variations will allow the Petitioner to install new copy on the existing ground sign pursuant to the exhibits submitted to the Zoning Board of Appeals. SECTION 3.
