GRANTING VARIANCES FROM SECTION 14.36.010
OF THE BUFFALO GROVE SIGN CODE
WHEREAS, the Village of Buffalo Grove is a Home Rule Unit pursuant to the Illinois
Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, the Petitioner, Parvin -Claus Sign Company, on behalf of Podolsky Northstar
Realty Partnership, Inc. Has requested a variation for the hereinafter legally described real
property, commonly known as Lot 3 on the east side of Weiland Road, south of Deerfield
Parkway, and Lot 2 on the south side of Deerfield Parkway, east of Weiland Road, Buffalo Grove,
Illinois, from Section 14.36.010 of the Buffalo Grove Sign Code, pertaining to Real Estate Signs,
for the purpose of installing two (2) leasing signs for the office building on Weiland Road, south
of Deerfield Parkway; and,
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals has held a public hearing, received testimony,
prepared minutes, made certain findings, and has made an affirmative recommendation on said
request for variation; and
WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the Village of Buffalo Grove hereby determine
and find that said variation is in harmony with the general purpose and intent of the Zoning
Ordinance, and 1) not allowing the variance will cause undue and unnecessary hardship due to the
Petitioner, 2) granting the requested variance would not be detrimental to the property owners in
the vicinity, 3) unusual conditions apply to the specific property that do not apply generally to
other properties in the Village, and 4) granting the variance will not be contrary to the general
objective of the Sign Code of moderating the size, number and obtrusive placement of signs and
the reduction of clutter.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF BUFFALO GROVE, COOK AND LAKE COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS, as follows:
Section 1. The preceding WHEREAS clauses are hereby adopted by he Corporate
Authorities.
Section 2. A variation is hereby granted to Section 14.36.010 of the Village Sign Code
to the following legally described property:
Lots 2 and 3 in the Busch Weiland Subdivision being part of the Southeast quarter of
Section 28, Township 43 North, Range 11 East of the Third Principal Meridian in Lake
County, Illinois.
The specific variation will allow the Petitioner to install two (2) leasing signs for the
proposed office building on Weiland Road. One sign would be located on Lot 3, on the east side
of Weiland Road, south of Deerfield Parkway and one sign would be located on Lot 2, on the
south side of Deerfield Parkway, East of Weiland Road.
Section 3, The following conditions apply to the variances: The copy, "Available
November 1999" is to be omitted from the signs.
Section 4, This Ordinance shall be in effect from and after its passage and approval.
This Ordinance shall not be codified.
